Detailed Reviews
I like the villa very much. Many things to do including table tennis and a trampoline in the villa which is great for the kids. The facilities are fantastic with a tennis court , football pitch and a park which is suitable for younger ages. There are 4 bedrooms , 2 of the bedrooms are single beds and 2 are king size with en suite, which means you could fit up to a total of 8 people in the villa at a time. There is a lovely roof terrace with a Sun lounger and a comfy sofa. The pool is great and is heated all year round which you will have to pay extra for but it’s definitely worth it if you like those early morning swims. Overall I like the villa and will defiantly be coming back next year 👍

We stayed in Villa 63 for 11 nights at the beginning of June. A couple of days prior to our departure we received a message to advise the oven had broken. Sadly, this remained the case throughout. This only one of a couple of negatives though. This has to be the best equipped Villa we’ve ever stayed in (even to the point of having a pump for the inflatables we took with us). Also, (and special thanks to Carola for recovering our daughters lost soft toy!) the staff were always very helpful on the rare occasions we needed them. The Villa was very spacious and the pool was to die for. I think the Villa could do with a little TLC (and definitely some new pillows) but the place was spotless and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. We didn’t venture too far away - Salema and Luz for beaches and eating. Slide and Splash well worth a visit, dolphin watching a must. If we head back to Portugal, I’d be surprised if we didn’t use Alma Verde as our base again. Despite the couple of negatives, this was a wonderful home from home. Our daughter was in tears the night before leaving which better sums up this place than my words.

This villa has wonderful views overlooking the national park looking West and whilst part of the Alma Verde development is not overlooked at all and has perhaps the biggest swimming pool on Alma Verde .
It has parking for 3 cars at least and is very peacefully located and very we'll appointed . We had a wonderful time here and the villa easily accommodates two families of four .
We would highly recommend both this and the Alama Verde development ; lots of restaurants and beaches within a ten minute drive and the lovely unspoilt fishing villages of Burgau and Salema within easy striking distance . Highly recommended !

We stayed at Villa 142 for 3 weeks in July 2012.
Very good, modern villa on a fairly new estate. Building on this estate has "stopped completely" due to the current financial crisis, though will double in size once normality resumes. There are around 100 villas now. Problem is that there are no facilities there yet, apart from tennis. The promised WiFi system was not working for the whole of the 3 weeks we stayed there.
Location is good, about 2/3 miles from Burgau.
Do not trust the "Cool Air" system. There is no air conditioning on site as this is a "green" development. We went in July, queried why the cool air system was not working, and were advised that it was, and was working to full capacity !! We slept a few nights by the pool as inside the villa was unbearably hot at night.
Facilities lacked a bit - nice space on the roof, but this space was wasted as there were no chairs or tables up there and none of the lights worked (six lights / no bulbs working)!! Four sunbeds by the pool, for six people !! Glass table by the pool which was certainly not health & safety compliant!! Problems with the drains whilst we were there!!
Could have been much better, £4,100 for 3 weeks was expensive for what you get.

+1
Firstly, the reception staff are amazingly friendly and their response to any issues-extremely quick. The villas and the site are so beautiful, the surrounding area and local fishing village is very convenient-but it is a good walk away or primarily a place you need transport for. The village (Burgau) has good restaurants, a nice bunch of craft/gift shops etc, lovely beach and fab cliff-side walks. There's a supermarket not far from Almaverde-few mins drive that has the best supplies, cheap and great collection of everything you could possibly need. We booked a villa via OwnersDirect but although the villa was beautiful-had real problems with ants-while the Amlaverde staff were amazing and did everything-and the holiday was still fantastic the owners-were not so responsive and pretty dissapointing attitude-I would not book privately again-but highly recommend having the assurances of booking with the resort direct! However-this was only one villa and I'm sure other owners are not all like this. I don't want to necessarily slate the owners but if you want to check which villa we stayed in-contact me direct.
This is a great place if you want quiet but friendly peace, coupled with lots of spa treatments on offer, good facilities-kids play area, tennis etc. Amazing countryside and amazing swimming pools!!!! I would recommend a villa with a roof terrace-just amazing to sit up there at night and in the morning, you get good views too! Also, we chose to be on this side of the Algarve as there are many places to the West that are authentic and a real treat. It's worth the visit to Sagres, also Silves-and Lagos-is a must, a really buzzing place with an amazing harbour, lots of funky shops and places to eat. Interesting crusader fort and lots of boat trips. We travelled as a family group (not my usual, solo or couple), four adults and three kids-all in all it was really entertaining for the kids and utter peace for the adults! Well-sort of, considering the bambinos in tow, haha. (Apologies for lack of interior shots-testimount to the fab weather and spending most time outdoors!)

This was a great stay for my family, we had a villa that was really well equiped and very clean, with a maid service the area was very quiet and we really relaxed. The reception staff were very helpful and gave us infomation about the local beaches and golf clubs and activities.
We hired bikes and walked in the resort which has been kept very natural. If you are looking for night life this is not the place to come but if you like good portuguese restaurants and a relaxing holiday then I would recomend it.

We recently stayed at the Almaverde village in villa 138.
The holiday was absolutely perfect, exactly what we'd hoped for but exceeded expectations too.
Location: Easy access from the airport, so quick to get there and roads so easy to use.
Very central to lots of different resorts... Bureau, Lagos, Luz, salema and many, many more. We just didn't have enough days to go to everywhere we wanted to (all with 15 minutes!!)
Near to a supermarket (or 3!) so self-catering was easy, able to get meat for the bbq and another bottle of wine!
Villa: wow, even as we walked in for the first time I knew I'd never want to leave! Stunning decor, lots of space to relax, roof terrace to sunbathe/ relax in the evening, we love standing under the stars and the roof terrace allowed space to do this with no light pollution!
The gardens of the villa are incredibly well kept and frequented by beautiful butterflies, leading to some fantastic photos!
Kitchen is exceedingly well equipped making eating at home very easy, even with a coffee machine which eased getting out of the very comfy beds!
We spent our days by the pool, which was great for jumping in to in the heat! 4 nights out of 6 we ate out and had two bbqs at the villa.
We particularly enjoyed eating at No Patio in Lagos and Chiccas in Luz. Also enjoyed Atlantica bar in Salema. There really wasn't a shortage of places to eat/ drink and be merry! The reception staff were incredibly polite and helpful in helping us book restaurants to eat at. Which was made even easier by the great little basket in the kitchen with business cards of all the best places to eat and drink near the villa (and taxi numbers if you need them!!) the maps were useful when we got in to the towns too!
We didn't find the energy to cycle or play tennis, especially in the heat and the pool was so peaceful that we really didn't want to move. But I can see they'd be great options if your the energetic type!
There is only one word that springs to mind to describe this holiday, villa and location... Perfect! I will most definitely be back next summer!

We had such a great stay in this villa, the location was perfect for exploring the Western Algarve - although visiting the local town of Burgau is a must, we absolutely loved the chilled beach vibe there! As for the villa, we could not have wanted more. It is decorated beautifully and is very well equipped. We cannot wait to return!

A great villa in lovely surroundings. It’s comfortable and well equipped (the wi-fi was a particular bonus) and proved to be the perfect base for a wonderful holiday. We have already booked to return to 124 in September!

I pondered long and hard about our stay in the Algarve. The area, what type of accommodation.
It was special because out of four couples that went, two had their 60th birthdays out there. So we wanted the holiday to be memorable. It was.
We chose alma verde because the development is relatively new, therefore all mod cons etc . Also you can pick from a wide range of different villas to suit your needs. We chose 139 because of its quiet location and privacy. There is no other villa behind 139 as there are on other villas for rent on almaverde.
Villa 139 is spectacular, the villa's location is private, quiet, with fantastic views to the rear of the property. The pool is large and beautify warm. The sun patios are well equipped with a good barbecue to the rear. Inside the villa is very very clean, spacious, a kitchen which would provide for all your needs, bedrooms with large comfortable beds, and, and, the first floor bedrooms have their own sun balconies, large to the front and small to the rear.
This villa is very very special.
Almaverde is situated about 2 miles from the nearest village called Burgau. This village is so pretty with a fantastic beach and bar/restaurant on the beach itself. The village has just enough bars and restaurants to make eating out a variety of fun and good food.Don't worry about getting home in the wee hours, we called the local taxi at 2 and 3am who arrived with a smile and a laugh, great service.
The area surrounding Burgau is exciting, castles, beaches, markets, little picturesque villages and of course Lagos, a fantastic night out with lots and lots of bars, restaurants etc.
so I can recommend 139, Almaverde, and the area. It was " our perfect holiday".

No, this is a complex and while there is fitness classes and bike hire there didn’t appear to be kids club, but the pool is so fabulous ours wanted to stay in there all day so I wouldn’t say a kids club is needed!
Do not use Hertz for a car rental in Faro. I had the worst experience after years of traveling there. We waited 1.5 hours in line to get a car. Then they didn't have hot spot we reserved online. And they charged my card $2000 out the door when the Web site clearly said that the charge was to be no more than $187 advance. Another minor annoyance is that you pay extra charges for using a credit card that is not disclosed in advance. clearly you have to use a card for renting anyway.
You pay a daily fee for using their device to pay road tolls, in addition to the tolls. There is basically no way to get around that since you can't pay the tolls any other way if you are a tourist. I call these minor because these are small expenses that inflate the bill. then when I declined the insurance it stated that I was accepting all the coverages. I argued that I was declining but he refused to take them off. I should have walked out right there but I was sick and needed the car to get to the hotel to lie down after standing in line for so long.
