We typically do not chose B&B preferring anonymity of hotels but we intrigued by staying at the farm house and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. The hosts have an amazing ability to offer suggestions / company when desired while providing you with the privacy you require. We used Beachfront Farmstay as a gateway to Oparara Cave/ Oparara Arches, a wonderful excursion and a great place to walk. We arrived on Christmas when everything was closed and arranged for the dinner with Dianne and Russel. So we started with a dinner... This was one of the best dinners we had in New Zealand, the tasty and natural ingredients, I am still thinking about home made ice scream, potatoes with the sour cream, etc. We ended up having all of meals at the B&B as the food was simply spectacular (we only like one other restaurant on our 4 week NZ trip Craggy Range winery) Right across the house is what looks like a never ending beach with not a soul in site. A very special palace to walk and walk. The room was good, comfortable bed, excellent shower, and a great view. Being 15km or so from the city, the stars you could see outside are amazing. This was one of the rare places that is a destination in it self. Highly recommended. While NZ is 20+ hours from us, next time we will in NZ we will be sure to visit again.…
We had a very enjoyable stay for only one night with Dianne and Russel. The room was spacious, nice and very private. We also booked the dinner option and Dianne cooked a delicious meal, it was a very nice evening with an interesting conversation and some nice wine. We enjoyed our stay very much.
This stay was truly wonderful. Diane and Russell are a breed of their own. They were kind. welcoming and generous. Dianne's cooking was excellent and the accommodation, of the highest order, was very comfortable with privacy well respected. Beyond the essentials(food and accommodation) both Dianne and Russell were more than generous with their time and help. No question these are genuine people inviting you to share their home. I am looking to return and spend more time in this beautiful part of the world. Special mention and extra pats for the wonderful dogs who I met when I ventured further onto the farm.
My husband and I were looking for rest and relaxation after a busy year and this B&B definitely provided it. We were extremely impressed by the care and attention from Russel and Dianne. They were very welcoming hosts and did lots of extra touches to make your stay the best, such as home baking placed in your room with the latest magazines. The location is very peaceful, my husband and I went for walks on the beach across the road and had a spa one night under the masses of stars. The breakfast was the most lavish we have ever had and all food from their garden and farm. We also experienced a delicious dinner which was lamb, venison and fish freshly caught when Russel took out guests for a fish. You won't be disappointed from this accommodation!
I really enjoyed my stay here. The bed was really comfy, lovely warm room with views out over the country side. They were excellent hosts very friendly and welcoming. I had the best shortbread ever and breakfast was excellent leaving me well set up for the rest of the day. Its nice and quiet with farm life going on around. The perfect place to spend a couple of nights while exploring Karamea.
