Ey up if this isn't one of the best camp sites in New Zealand I don't know what is! Caretaker(s) marvelous friendly and knowledgeable, site immaculate, services perfect - where else do you get a play (pool/darts) room, TV lounge, kitchen and dining room all in their own space and furnished. Pots pan cups glasses all the utensils crockery you need all for half the price of most camp sites. And just over the bank a river to fish in! (+ free vegies put in fridge) The perfect site in paradise!

Stubbled upon this domain camping spot due to another being closed.
Great price to park up motorhome for a couple of nights. Well equipped kitchen and dining areas. Bathrooms good but prefer to wear jandels inside - signs say no footwear...ew!
Helpful caretakers as pointed out places to visit as well as assisted with 4WD hire.
Walking distance to local pubs, river and beach

Four couples from the same street in Christchurch all met up here after travelling from Westport in atrocious weather! We had booked earlier and were welcomed by Colin and Lesley, (Managers) who couldn't have been more helpful and found us all sites - on concrete - as the grassed areas were either flooded or too soft. The facilities were immaculate and shared by a number of semi-resident whitebaiters. We were invited to the Camp's Happy Hour later and greatly enjoyed hearing the local stories and friendly chat with all present. Pleased to say, the next day was pristine and we spent it taking in the local wonders! A very memorable two nights were had by all and grateful thanks to Colin and Lesley. Highly recommended!

We were welcomed warmly by a lovely lady who informed us about the facilities. She suggested the local Karamea Village Hotel for dinner… and we took her advice.
The complex is older but very well maintained and clean. The showers were good, the laundry facilities were good and there is a building with a snooker table, table tennis, a well resourced kitchen and family room.
We enjoyed her husband chatting and offering suggestions. We highly recommend this facility.

We were directed here from the information and resource centre. We rocked up and the caretaker and his wife could not have been more helpful. We booked our site and parked up. Aug/Sept is prime time for whitebaiters so space maybe an issue. It wasn't for us outside of school holidays. Everything was clean and tidy and the kids had a great time playing on the oval. We only stayed one night but next time we go over we will be staying again. Total gem of a place.

Stayed here as an extension or our west coast trip to avoidCyclone Charlotte weather, and what a good decision it was. The site is very quiet and the facilities are good but basic. It is also a smaller site so less people. We were going to stay just one night but had to hire a car to do the arches so stayed a second night. Colin the caretaker was excellent and very helpful as he organised the hire car.

I have stayed here before a couple of years ago, it was a real friendly welcoming atmosphere. This January I returned to the camp and was looking forward to my holiday. I found the caretaker to be very rude, abrupt, and arrogant. I will never return to this camp again and certainly will not be recommending it to any one.

The dômain camping ground is clean, tidy and provides plenty of space for motorhomes, caravans and tents. It has only two toiles, handbasins and showers but they are free to use and kept nice and clean by the current managers and as it is only a small site there wasn't any queue for the facilities. The kitchen was clean and provided everything you needed and the lounge area with large tv was a nice cumfy spot where campers socialised, along with the managers, who were very friendly, helpful and obliging. We were pleased with everything and found it the ideal spot for touring around Karamea. We even managed to hire e-bikes from the local i centre.c

This is a fabulous place to stay for only $10.00 a night for an unpowered site. Fabulous showers, fully equipped kitchen and cosy lounge. The caretakers are so friendly and helpful. Intended to stay just one night but with so many walks in the area two was not enough. Highly recommend stopping here.
