Very good value for money with a spacious open lounge/kitchen, you also get access to kayaks, snorkel gear, and random kitchenette stuff like mosquito coils, blender etc
Des the owner was really responsive, the heat pump wasn't working and within a day it was fixed. We also locked ourselves out of the villa oops and Des came to our rescue within 20min.
We stayed for 10 nights and would highly recommend a car to travel around the island - it was really easy to hire one as we got it straight from Des at a competitive rate, within a 5min call with him we got the keys and were on our way.
We had no neighbours for the majority, but had company in the sister villa on the last night - we could hear them slamming the cupboards and bass from the TV but this would be expected in any semi attached property
The villa is serviced every 2nd day, very handy to have fresh towels and the bin emptied. You're in the tropics, bring your insect repellent, don't leave food on the bench or the ants will pounce on it, and take advantage of the private pool for you to jump into after a long day

We had 8 lovely nights at Rendezous and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are 2 villas and we were in Villa 1. They are both very private and a bonus is that you can swim nudey in the pool and nobody would know. Not ideal to swim out front at the beach but we weren't worried as we did a lagoon cruise and had the pool. The villa is serviced every second day by Susie who does a great job and is very friendly. Met Des a couple of times and was always pleasant and chatty. Sure some people have written a few negative reports on the villas but we had no problems. Everything in the villa was in working order and it was great to have a little fold up clothes line and washing machine/dryer. Also a bonus is having the sea breeze coming into your bedroom at night and if you opened the doors on the other side you got a through breeze. Lovely and quiet. Flies and mozzies are all part of the tropics and you should be prepared. Maybe putting coils into the villas would help too. Other than that a great stay. Thank you Des.

If your looking for space and location then this is the place for you. We stayed in villa 1 & we had everything we needed for 5 nights. Waking up in the morning to the sound of the ocean was magic, & dragging a kayak a few metres into the pristine water before breakfast was even better. Snorkeling right outside & a pool to have a dip was heaven. There are some things that could be better especially for the price! The moldy pillows that were on the bed along with dusty white decorative sheet above the bed was gross. The guy who was staring at us from the abandoned house behind us was beyond creepy & didnt make me feel safe, especially when we caught him going thru the bins. The shower head is missing its cover, the outside shower head was broken. The bidet was also not working properly. Lights were falling out of sockets and the sun lounger cushions needed replacing. It could do with an update. Definitely bring your bug spray. Some food items were out of date by miles. The hot water stopped working but to Des' credit it was fixed the next day.

We were picked up at the airport by friendly Chad who then showed us thru our villa no.2.
It looked just like in the pictures but never saw a pic of the shower, & the reason is the shower screen is covered in soap scum & it’s old.
I mentioned to Chad later about it & he said he’d cleaned it & the villa next door is the same & he’s
told the owner about them but nothing has been done. There is also nowhere to put your soap & shampoo except the floor.
The villa was serviced every couple of days which was nice.
When we opened the wardrobe it stunk of a damp musty smell & so we left the doors open the 2 weeks to try & get rid of the smell.
There is 2 air cons in the bedroom, 1 that works & the other that is old & yellow & not working but left there.
The king bed & pillows are lovely & the view from the bedroom & lounge across the deck to the water is beautiful.
But unfortunately you can’t keep the sliding doors open because the flies & mozzies come in early morning & later in the afternoon. We had to buy Aerogard & use the flyspray.
The lounge is very comfy.
There is a beautiful big fridge but you need your muscles to open the door sometimes cause the seal is so tight, a good thing I suppose.
The crockery & cutlery are very good & there’s a dishwasher, be careful because the bottom shelf rolls back really quickly when it’s opened.
When we opened the kitchen cupboards just to check out what was in there they stunk, except for the toaster/kettle cupboard. The same strong musty smell.
The electric frypan had been put away dirty, not that I wanted to use it.
The deck is so nice but the hedges seem to hide a lot of the view & get in every photo. Chad said the owner likes them that high. Maybe for complete privacy, but it takes away from the tropical feel of the island.
The hedge on the side of the stairs tends to be a spot for the locals to come & sit nearby to drink & eat snacks & leave their rubbish behind.
Unfortunately you can’t swim in the water out the front because it’s full of big brown rocks & coral on the sand. This has nothing to do with the villa but I was surprised it was so rocky cause have visited Rarotonga twice before & didn’t know there were rocky parts, I’ve only seen sand & the beautiful
lagoon with some coral where we’ve stayed before.
We love Rarotonga so much & found Lara to be very friendly & she drove us to the Airport but I’m just writing this review because the majority sounded so excellent & like luxury but it didn’t seem like that to us & feel the villa needs some TLC which I read in a couple of older reviews.
We will be coming back to the Cooks sometime, it’s paradise.

Theres no denying it Rendezvous Villas are beautiful. The location and all the amenities of the self contained villas are perfect. The service of the fantastic concierge who not only collects you from the airport but also cleans your room etc was top rate. A REALLY "lovely guy!"
All of this however has been sadly forgotten by us thanks to the owner of the villas who in effect ruined any nice feelings we have about the place.
We booked our honeymoon through one of the establishment'sbooking staff with the intention of staying at the other hotel's propertyTe Vakaroa Villas. Because Te Vakaroa had just opened they were having a heavily discounted opening special. Unfortunetly however there was a double booking at Te Vakaroa and we were offered Rendezvous Villas in its place for the same opening special price. A quote was sent to us, which we accepted and paid on the spot thinking we had got a great honeymoon deal.....nothing else occured UNTIL On the final day of our honeymoon we were presented with an unexpected bill for some $2000 of unpaid accommodation fees. We were confused and contacted the English expat owner to discuss the mistake that had obviously occured....He would not hear of it, insisted that we were lying and was very very rude on the phone. We were advised by a very "lovely guy" with first hand experience of what an [--] the owner apparently was and who could see we were being treated unfairly to go to an internet kiosk and print out all of the internet correspondence we had with his booking staff, including quotes and receipts, and present these as PROOF (which he quite obviously already had) to the owner. As if that wasnt bad enough on attempting to discuss this with the owner we were shouted at, swore at and called MANY many names. The whole experience was horrible, so innapropriate, unprofessional and very upsetting. It turns out we had been quoted and charged an incorrect amount for our stay by a booking staff member, a fact which we were totally oblivious of. Instead of honoring the quoted amount which is what any respectable establishment would do, we were being bullied to pay for a mistake which wasnt our own.
With all that in mind can I please suggest to anyone planning a trip to the Cooks Islands DO NOT stay at Rendezvous or Te Vakaroa Villas. I emphasis this EVEN MORE if you are Australian as the owner said some VERY horrible things about Australian people. Its just not worth it and for the money you pay, your better off staying somewhere where you know your hard earned cash is lining the pockets of a decent human being. I assure you that an experience like the one we hadcan sadly really ruin the way you feel about not only the place and the island but your whole honeymoon, which is the sadest thing of all becuase at the end of the day all you have is your memories!

It's hard to fault the location when you pull back the curtains in the morning and all you can see is beautiful blue water. The interior is also really nice, spacious and well laid out.

It has a great front deck with a nice little beach out the front however the problem was the wind blew directly onshore for the entire duration of our stay, so we didn’t use this deck once. I have since learnt that the trade winds blow from the South East throughout July & August (directly onshore at Rendezvous) & therefore we spent much of our time driving to the other side of the island which was sheltered. The back deck was also sheltered which is where we spent a lot of time. At this time of year, I don’t think I would recommend the Villas. Last time we visited Muri Beach it was in April and we had no problems with wind.

My main gripe however revolved around the booking system. Clearly reading other reviews, there is an issue with the Rendezvous Villas booking system. We booked for 5 nights + a late check out for which we paid additional for. A day before checkout we received 3 phone calls telling us that we had made a mistake with our booking and there were people due to arrive before we left. We were blamed for the stuff up and when I explained the late checkout had been arranged via email (including being paid for and flight detail provided), the response was that they were not privy to this information, despite us receiving confirmation from the reservations manager. In the end it didn’t adversely affect us but did leave a bit of a sour taste.

Despite these minor inconveniences, we still really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it, albeit with a few "howevers…”

From the 3-second walk to the beach, to the 2-second walk to our own private plunge pool, my wife and I were in heaven!

These villas are fully equipped for luxury without the high price! If the weather is not in your favour, there is always the 65-inch plasma TV with DVD/CD player to watch and listen to.
You can also cook in your fully equipped kitchen or rustle up some seafood on your own BBQ.

One thing I would recommend - hire a car or motor scooter to get around. There is only one major road that encircles the whole island, so it's very hard to get lost.

There are some fantastic restaurants on the island too. We ate at Trader Jacks, Sails and a few others for dinner.

We also experienced an informative and hilarious tour with “Raro Mountain Tours”. Very worth while and funny indeed!

All in all, it was a wonderful time and we would go back at the drop of a hat!

Oh yes, we had a regular visitor, a little black dog that was the most friendly thing you could ever want to meet. We even had him over for dinner a couple of times :-)

The location of the villa is perfect as it is close to the many eating establishments of Muri and you are able to walk the length of Muri Beach or go by road to get to them. If you are wanting affordable luxury (self catering) then this is the place for you. My partner and I had 7 nights here and the furniture and bedding was very comfortable, the facilities were lovely and relaxing. Even though you are right on the beach (throw your curtains open to enjoy the sunrise from your bed) you are never glared on by passers by (of which there are very few). I cant wait to return!

the standout for us was the privacy. these 2 ' mirror image ' villas were VERY private ... even from those that wandered past on the beach only yards away, the villa open plan kitchen and lounge were more than ample for our needs. the bathroom was large ... as was the bedroom and king size bed. the managers, chad and marisha, were very helpfull. there if you wanted them or need a question/advise ... but respected the privacy we wanted. we stayed at villas last week on June '14 so the plunge pool, whilst being full and inviting, was just a tad too cold for us. as opposed to the snorkling in the lagoon ... where the water was welcoming and the fish great. we didn't do the glass bottom boat tours though we saw them often going past the villa from our deck, as they stopped and snorkled, where we were snorkling anyway - about a 10minute walk up the beach. again. a lovely 10minute walk in the opposite direction, to the left of unit, took you to the more sandy swimming beach area. pleasant and very nice but more tourist commercial - in a low level way - than the villa beach area. because there is more rock formation around the villa frontage we found that that seemed to aid our privacy as it was not seen as the 'stopping' place for everyone in front of the villa. we used the kayaks provided in front of villa and made use of the provided snorkling gear as well. the villa well suited a week away in paradise for two ... who were looking more to privacy and romance than living on the doorstep of many in a resort.

A bit late for a review but me and my partner stayed in Villa 1 from the 5th dec to 19th dec and couldn't have found a better place to stay. Such a beautiful villa, from location to quietness, privacy and the 5star service Chad gave us. Have recommended to all family and friends and we will definitely be back soon.
