Abother great stay at Muri Heights. Highly recommended. And Mii is a great hostess, atttentive, easy to communicate with but not overbearing or obtrusive.
The villas themselves are high enough to catch the breeze but close enough to Muri village with the coffee cafes and a dairy within walking distance. Two scooter and car hire places just down the hill and another 200 meters going north. And the Moorings, best fish sandwich on the island, very close as well. What else is there to say?

Third time staying here which says it all. Love the spaciousness and convenient location close to the lagoon, quiet (apart from the chooks which are an integral part of Rarotonga life☺️). The host Mii Kauvau is friendly and helpful and always ready for feed back on how to improve her service.

Mii was beautiful, and couldn't do enough to help us. She went above and beyond to look after us, and for that we thank her so much.
This villa was perfect for us, a family of 5. It had everything you needed, and the owner is but a call away if you need anything else.
The location is fantastic, and very peaceful setting. The lagoon across the road is absolutely beautiful and well worth staying here.
Wed reccomend these villas.

This holiday house was the best value for money and amazing location of our whole holiday. we stayed in a few other places over our trip and muri heights was the best value, the biggest house, the best balcony and the best location / view. its an older style inside, ..things arent new and sparkly..not modern furniture but still comfortable and clean and spacious. fully functional kitchen..except the blender wasn't working and I was looking forward to making fresh fruit smoothies after reading a previous review...:(..., and air con in master bedroom was sensational.... altho with the amazing breeze we opened all windows and hardly used air con at all. the decking was fabulous sitting outside most nights listening to the night time noises and even on days we had massive showers we could sit outside and enjoy the rain undercover,,
the only thing that may upset travellers is when our driver collected us they weren't 100% sure on where we were staying,,, as in they didn't know a place called Muri Heights... and there was no sign from road for muri heights, like lots of other rental houses have a sign from the main road up into the hills.., in fact there was a sign up a hill .. at our shared driveway.. for another property next door which confused the driver even more..and it was only because I could see the house from road and it was same as the pictures, did we find it ok. so a sign from road OR at least at the driveway.. might be beneficial for travellers who aren't as relaxed as we are.:):)
The owner called us several times to check in.. which was great!!
the only other thing I could say that's negative was that our BBQ gas bottle was empty and we were having friends up for a Sunday BBQ and had to rush off to a swap and go and change the bottle over ourselves.. which cost us $50NZ.
which isn't a major drama it just would have been nice for owners to have checked the gas bottles themselves as some travellers might not have a spare $50 to spend...
We loved it here. and would def. recommend the accommodation to everyone!!..

Thank you Mii for making our holiday in Muri such an enjoyable time. This is the most wonderful accommodation, not only with most facilities within walking distance, but also in a very peaceful setting. The deck is huge and a lovely place just to chill. I would recommend Muri Heights Villa as a definite for an accommodation option.

Muri Heights comprises two family rental homes, the one we stayed in was a good size, clean and spacious, and just a 5 minute walk from the village and beach. It was a good location for us, as it was back from the road, yet we could still hear the roar from the reef.

It has a fully equipped kitchen, so cooking is easy. If you would rather eat out, the best food and cocktails we found were at the Pacific Resort on the beach front.

Muri caters for tourists with an array of resorts and rental houses. There is a lovely white sand beach and three islands which can be swam or kayaked to, or waded to when the tide is out. A fun way to get about on the water is on a treddle-cat (a foot peddled catamaran, $15 an hour). The area is not very good for snorkeling, but a 20 minute walk down the beach takes you to a fantastic spot where the fish are varied and the coral is healthy.

Muri is a 25 minute drive from the town centre. It costs $7 return on the bus, or you can rent a scooter or car. However, you need to get a licence from the police station and take a test. Cost $30. It costs $20 a day to hire a scooter.

Highly recommend sun block and mosquito repellant! The Saturday markets are great and worth a visit.

We have both travelled to 5 other pacific islands and found Rarotonga to be the friendliest, safest and least polluted.

Arrived home from a fabulous 4 days in the Cook Islands for a wedding. Muri Heights villa accommodated for 5 of us comfortably. As I was looking for something affordable knowing the beach is never too far away this place was ideal. The place was located right in the heart of Muri, which hosts the night markets & has many restaurants & resorts to bar hop around. The villa was close to the scooter rental hire which was convenient to grab our scooters.
Happy sitting on the massive deck, and the place had everything you need and more. Facilities were well equipped. The place was very clean, tidy & presentable. The host Mii was friendly & easy to deal with. Would definitely recommend to others.
I also like to pick a couple of things to improve on just so the owners are always looking to make the stay better.
A shower door would be good, just to keep the water in the shower and not soaking up the bath mat, and the couch to sit on was not the most comfy couch. Definitely no problems for us at all but I always like to give feedback on things to improve on. Loved our stay over all & would definitely come back.

We stayed at Muri Heights Frangipani Villa for 6 nights in June 2015. Overall we really enjoyed our time there, it was very well equipped and fabulous value for money (a relief after Aitutaki which is so overpriced!)
The hot water system is solar, so if you dont get a sunny day, the water wont be hot but that didnt really bother us.
We loved the location; it was easy to walk to the beach, restaurants, even tikioka beach for snorkelling!!
We managed to get locked out of one of the bedrooms and Mii's daughter & her husband came to help us. Then my son had an accident off the balcony, thankfully he was fine. The family were great throughout these ordeals. Such lovely people
Would definitely recommend

We stayed at the Frangipani villa for 13 days. The villa is in a garden setting and was set back from the main rd. The Frangipani is just a five minute stroll to an outstanding beach and close to all that you need in Muri. The villa has a wrap around deck/veranda that provided views of the mountains behind and a Taro plantation to the front. Because the villa is elevated, we always had a breeze off the ocean. We were able to pick fresh passion fruit right off the deck. Shortly after arriving, Mii met us at the villa, she is a very gracious host and is very accommodating. The villa was well appointed with comfortable beds, a spacious kitchen & living area, great shower and of course the veranda. We highly recommend this wonderful villa and plan on returning.

We stayed in hibiscus villa of Muri heights villas for ten days with our two children. It was the perfect home away from home. Being just slightly set back from the main rd, made it a quiet haven with a beautiful outlook, yet so close to everything you need in Muri. The massive deck was fantastic, plenty of space for having our friends and family around for a BBQ. Mii was lovely to deal with, so welcoming and accommodating, she came to meet us at the house when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. We will certainly be staying here next time we come on holiday.

MJ asked a question Jan 2019

Hi, Do they supply with toilet paper and give a fresh towels sheets after week of stay
Answer from UpToSpeed
Auckland, New Zealand105 contributions25 helpful votes
Probably too late for MJ but for anyone else wh may be interested, a couple of rolls of toilet paper were available when we stayed, and then its up to you, the local store is only a minute or two's walk away. There's plenty of sheets and towels in the cupboard and there's a washing machine at the villa if you would rather wash your own.

Hi, How hot it gets inside the house ( Hibiscus ) since it is facing sun all day. Thank you
Answer from UpToSpeed
Auckland, New Zealand105 contributions25 helpful votes
Again. probably too late for MJ but yes its gets pretty warm inside but both villas have large shady decks. The one we stayed in (Frangipani I think, anyway the one at the back) could do with fans in the living room and master bedroom.
