A relaxing and quiet space (if you don't count the roosters haha). Super clean and tidy with all the basic needs. Friendly and always helpful hosts. Easy to contact as needed. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a bit of a retreat - book directly :-)

The location was ideal for accessing different parts of the island. A quiet part of the lagoon was a 5 minute walk down the hill (you do have to walk back up the hill). Super close to the night markets and convenience stores including a great fish shop. Easy enough to get on and off the bus at the base of the hill. Simon and Denise went out of their way in every way to make sure we had the best time and were very informative helping us find our way around the island and learn more along the way, but were also happy to leave us be and explore ourselves. Couldn’t fault them or the apartment. Added bonus was the beautiful view from the top balcony.

The most accommodating and welcoming owners ever. Both Simon and Denise are the friendliest owners that I've ever had. Always checking up on you from the day you arrive to when you leave. You can tell that they both love the island because they know all the amazing spots to snorkle too. Thank you so much! Stayed here for our honeymoon and birthday celebrations . What an absolute gem - Thank you Simon and Denise for making our stay special. This place is secluded but also close enough as a great location. Close to shops and restaurants - plan ahead in the off season as lots of them will close early / stay closed. Beach and lagoon - great for snorkeling - about 10 mins walk away. Take swimming shoes if you wish to swim out as corals can be sharp. Thank you Simon and Denise for kindly letting us borrow some snorkels. We loved the warm welcome at the airport and the flower garlands - what a way to kick start our time on this beautiful island! Lovely home-like touches like flowers and lovely paintings. We were treated to fresh fruit and biscuits. Milk in the fridge came in useful. Our room was airy, spacious and had a large balcony to watch the beautiful sunrises from. We enjoyed the large TV with pre-loaded films - which had an excellent collection of many genres. We found the welcome packs and informative emails useful to find our bearings around the island. Communication with our hosts was easy. We loved how hospitable and warm Simon and Denise were. Honestly had the best time - can’t wait to be back again as you've made us fall in love with this beautiful island. Keep up the good work guys and see you soon!…

Great little hidden gem. Inland from the main road. We were upstairs and had a great view. Has everything you need and great little shelterd area next to the pool for some privacy. Definitely recommend for a different stay on the island away from the resorts.

This place is excellent - I would highly recommend it. This is away from the main road but it's a quick walk to the beach - I would recommend you taking a torch if you are walking back at night. Phoebe (the owner) was so helpful - would definately stay here again.

I organized a trip for my husband, James, as a 50th birthday present. We went last November (2018). Having never been to the Cook Islands, I was just hoping I had picked the right place to stay. We really lucked out with Muri Retreats. Clean, beautiful apartment with a full kitchen, including toaster, single serving blender for smoothies, filtered water, hot plate, fridge and freezer. Stunning views, lush gardens. The property has a open air cabana with pool, barbeque, TV and DVD and book collection. There is also a laundry room. Docile, lovely roosters and chickens roam the property (and really the whole island). With only 4 apartments, it is very quiet, private, and serene. To make the stay even better, the owners Steve and Phoebe are fantastic sources of island information and just all around super wonderful cool people, very personable, helpful, friendly and kind. If we ever get back to Rarotonga there is no place else we would stay.…

We stayed 15 nights at Muri retreat and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The apartment was clean, well appointed and surrounded by lovely gardens. The view towards Muri Beach was great and the walk down was on a well surfaced road and only took 5 minutes to walk to the lagoon. The pool was small but great for cooling off in. Close to good eating places and the night markets. Steve and Phoebe were great, very helpful but not intrusive.

We absolutely loved this place. Phoebe was so friendly and helpful. We were here 8 days in July 2018 and it was perfect. It was in such a great location away from the busy places on the main strip. It had a beautiful scenery on the balcony overlooking the palm trees and the sea. I will definitely come back and stay here.
