Detailed Reviews
Marion and Iain were by far our best hosts in the outer hebrides. Despite arriving much later than expected after a very long days cycling they provided us with a lovely 3 course dinner, a very clean and comfortable room and hot bath (including bubbles). Breakfast was also great.

Marion was very welcoming and the room was very comfortable with all facilities you could want. Marion no longer does evening meals but kindly collected us from the local pub after dinner after getting there by bus.

This was our second stay with Ian and Marion. Both are very helpfull to give you the maximum comfort. Breakfasts and meals were excellent. Rooms are comfortable very well equipped. Nice lounge too. The place Balallan is central for exploring the Western coast (Calanish standing stones, blackhouses, Uig coastline, Abhainn Dearg distillery) and near to the capital city Stornoway in the north and Harris in the south. Even Port Ness at the very top of Lewis is easy reachable.

We stayed at Gledfield with Marion and Iain for three nights and were warmly welcomed and shown to our room. A very comfortable room with lots of little extras in the room from toiletries to bottled water. Warm and well furnished with beautiful Harris tweed soft furnishings and a lovely ensuite shower room. Breakfasts were lovely and served in guest lounge and dining area. Would thoroughly recommend and it is ideally situated for exploring both Lewis and Harris

This place is certainly in a rural location, but thats probably most places on this island apart from Stornoway etc. Easy to find as its on the main road through the island and at the end of the 3 mile village !
Greeted by Iain who showed us around and to our room, which was clean and nicely decorated and had a large en suite shower room, Lovely little touches like shower gels, hot water bottle, slippers etc, and in the room were bottles of water, a mini fridge if needed, alarm clock.
If you so wish there is a lovely big lounge downstairs you can use to relax in but we found after a day exploring and a meal out we were almost ready for bed.
Marion cooks a nice breakfast, as well as offering porridge, cereals and fruit. Enough to set you up for the day.
A good central location for exploring both Harris and Lewis.

When I arrived at the Gledfield Bed & Breakfast, I was welcomed by Marion and Iain a lovely couple who run this fabulous B&B, the owners, could not be more helpful and the breakfasts Marion offers are of a greater variety than most B & B I have been to and are cooked to perfection. The rooms are very clean, spacious, and comfortable I had a lovely stay here and would most certainly go back when I’m next up in Lewis.

A little late in my review, I stay at the Gledfield back in 2017. Marion is such an amazing person. She really made me feel comfortable. I was on the island doing a photo shoot for almost two weeks and she really made sure I was well cared for. Her B & B is situated in a perfect spot to get anywhere on the island in quick order.

We stayed here on our way cycling back to Tarbert. Marion was very gracious to two wet cyclists. We had arranged dinner and had a great meal with huge portions. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. We were able to store our bicycles in their garage.

My wife an I stayed at the Gledfield B&B for two nights recently while visiting Lewis. This B&B is in a small village on the main road between Stornoway and Tarbet with easy access to the Calanish Stones and the western and northern parts of Lewis. Our room provided us with all the basics we needed. Marion is a very nice and helpful person and directed us to an Inn which is one of the few places that provide evening meals without returning to Stornoway. Marion will provide evening meals in her home on advance request and will also provide packed lunches again on advance request - this is very handy as it is difficult to find a cafe or lunch room in many areas of Lewis.

Under a sky of darkening cloud I was glad to arrive at Gledhill after my first full day of walking in the Hebrides. Marion and Iain gave me a warm welcome and saw me comfortably installed in a twin ensuite room overlooking the green rear garden. After a hot shower I strolled into the dining room where I continued to unwind and was treated to a delicious three course dinner. I slept well and had a good cooked breakfast in the morning – just what I needed with the wind gusting outside and the rain driving across the land from the south. Marion furnished me with a packed lunch by prior arrangement and I resumed my walking holiday. It was just the one night at Gledhill but I’d happily stay here again in future.
