I don't normally review anything unless I am either very impressed or the opposite. In this case "impressed" an under statement. I can say from many family trips & stays near & far that the cottage sits in my top 5 choices. The hosts were amazing & so kick back which made my family feel at ease right away. And the cottage itself has everything a family like mine needs. The view was amazing. Only downside was having to leave. I hope to stay again soon.
We had three nights here and I wish it had been double that. There are two large bedrooms upstairs, a decent sized bathroom and a large lounge area open plan to the kitchen. There is also a lovely garden. There is only one cottage - the owners live next door and were friendly and helpful. It is off the beaten track, quiet and the night time star vista was fantastic. The town Opotiki is a short drive away. Apart from there not being enough TV channels to get the cricket - this was just about faultless.
Peace and quiet! The birdsong is awesome too. Love to hear the sea at night! The night sky is so brilliant. Comfortable and clean with everything you need at hand. Owners are lovely people. What a treat!
Spacious and comfortable with everything you would need. Great views, quiet, clean and tidy, top class fittings and furniture. This is an excellent cottage with a lot of added benefits - owners live nearby and they are happy to chat. There's a visiting dog that just wants a scratch and is totally friendly and actually is a laugh a minute with his attempts to get said scratch. There are morporks calling at night and at any time a weka could appear stalking through the very nice gardens. Because its down a longish drive it's very peaceful and quiet. To be honest it is one of the best places we have ever stayed at - anywhere!
Capeview cottage is spacious and comfortable, private and quiet, has magnificent sweeping views and a lovely garden. It's a great place to relax and unwind, catch up on washing and cook yourself a meal which can be enjoyed on the deck while watching the sunset.
We spent one night at this property in August 2008. We found it via the official NZ tourist website and faound to be the only place offering a minimum standard of accomodation between Tauranga and Gisborne, on the Pacific Highway No. 2. We were pleased to find a nice and confortable two King bedrooms cottage ( just one cottage, yes, even if the name of the property mentions Cottages ). The place is peaceful and very private even though just a stone throw from the hosts' house. It is located on a high area rich of Kiwi orchards, just a couple of Kms from Opotiki: the view towards the East Cape is just amazing. Katleen, the proprietor, is a nice host and she make us feel like if we were at home. Everything is available in the nice cottage: TV, stereo, large kitchen with fridge, large bathroom, lounge area, .... The beds are generous kings on the second floor. A nice patio with barbecue, table and chairs is accesible from the living room. All the necessary amenities were at their place. The morning after we had a good continental breakfast prepared by Kathleen. We believe this is the best choice in the area and would certainly go back if in the area again.…
