The way they take care of the customer, help with choosing the right hikes and the next places to stay in Tanzania is amazing. The hotel is in a stunning location with beautiful cliff views, perfect for solo travellers, especially those travelling with a tent and backpacker. A beautiful place to camp with clean sanitary facilities and amazing hospitality.
I will definitely be back soon!

I spent 2 nights in Uvi House and had an amazing time in this absolutely scenic location. The restaurant (where you get delicious home-made breakfast and dinner) and the bungalows all face the stunning valley... fantastic view, if you're lucky you even get to see Kilimanjaro!

The bungalows are very cool, rustic but clean. There are great hiking options and Dagmara and her lovely stuff are very nice and helpful. Definitely the highlight of our Usambara Hiking Adventure!

Beautiful place with one of the most picturesque views I saw in Tanzania! Sunsets in this place are remarkable and there's no better way to end a day in the mountains than sitting on a terrace drinking whatever it is you like drinking ;) To that, friendly and helpful staff, mostly local people working there, so the support for the local community is part of the package. I can highly recommend visiting!

Uvi is the perfect place to forget about all your worries. Situated high on a escarpment, where your eye can enjoy a wonderful view of the valley during the day, and the stars will fill your peaceful sleep at night. A great base for mountain trips. Delicious food. A very nice and helpful team, thank you for organizing transport and for the great care on site. I am absolutely in love and highly recommend it to everyone who wants to take a break from the rush of everyday life. We will definitely come back. Thank you Dagmara and the entire staff, you created a paradise.

Beautiful view and great experience! Dagmara and staf are very helpful. Additional activities are available for example clifs walk and cooking with mama. Highly recommend for people who want to feel the authentic moments with locals. Morning coffe with view for Kilimanjaro tasted better than in any other place.

Unfortunately we had booked at Mambo Viewpoint (which was very overpriced and not worth the money at all!) and wished we had booked at Mambo Cliff Inn. The rooms have the most incredible view & are very cheap. We will definitely be back here to stay and we give it our highest recommendation.

We´ve been staying at Mambo Cliff Inn for three nights in July 2015. After a loooong bus ride on Fasaha we arrived starving at Mambo village junction from where we were brought to the Cliff Inn on the back of some local motorbike drivers (3000 TSH,10 mins ride).

Immanuel (the manager of the place and one of the best hosts we have ever met in our lifes) welcomed us warmly and showed us our hut. Rooms are tidy, african style furniture, decent beds and small bathrooms with running water (every now and then hot). 40 Dollars a night are fairly cheap for the location and....and THE VIEW!! Forget everything you've seen before. Even the pictures can't describe how beautiful it is. Stunning!! The balconies offer a unique setting and great views on the plains and the surrounding mountains.

Did I mention we were starving? Not anymore after we had the delicious buffet style dinner at the main building which contains a bar and a big room with a cozy atmosphere. The woman in the kitchen cook local dishes for a ridiculously cheap price (I think 8000 TSH, drinks almost supermarket prices). We couldn't stop eating it was so yummy.

Immanuel helped us find a local guide who took us to the nearby caves, the daily market in a village close by and the woman pottery shop. Part of the fee goes to the guide, part to the local community to finance infrastructure (electricity is planned, so far just solar panels). On the soccer pitch just outside the Cliff Inn were daily matches between the local teams and a good vibe among the spectators. When we started playing too, the "muzungus" were soon joined by many kids that loved football on the rough, bumpy pitch. People in the village were extremely friendly and open minded to tourists, great experience.

A little summary: Its a long drive from Arusha (11 hours), so plan to stop overnight somewhere. Mambo is 3 hours from Lushoto up the mountains. Know that its a very remote area where running water and electricity is a rare source (you can get internet and charge your devices in the nearby Mambo Viewpoint which is run by the same owner), but maybe this is why people here are extremely friendly, Immanuel and the staff are good people and the prices offer great value for money in a very real african community. Far from the beaten Safari and Zanzibar path, we enjoyed the authenticity of this rural spot. Highly recommended...

We camped here for icky a small fee. The place had the best views around and the staff were wonderful. The meals were great and well priced as well. If your want to go door a walk with a guide to the forest or any other place ask them to arrange Joseph as a guide. We did a walk with him for only half a day and can say it was a highlight of our 3 month trip. He was fantastic. I would highly recommend staying here and doing a guided walk with Joseph.

We arrived at night so it was a lovely surprise to wake up with this majestic view over the usambara mountains. The room was clean and comfortable, although the water in the bathroom stopped working, so we had to shower from the bucket (but staff were very helpful, and the bucket water was nice and warm). Dinner was local food, quite ok. And breakfast was pretty basic - but very appropriate considering the low-budget price.

It was a great experience, we would recommend this lodge to everyone. Just be prepared for the 2-3hour drive on bumpy roads from Lushoto :) But the view is worth it!

My family stayed at the Mambo Cliff Inn for one night on August 14th. We hiked from the Rangwi Convent with our guide Said Salim and it took us 6 hours to get to this beautiful place. The view from the cliff is absolutely amazing.

Our family had a whole cottage to ourselves. The cottage had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each bedroom can sleep two people easily. The cottage also had a private balcony. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Emmanuel who is an amazing host. He runs this place very well.

The food at the restaurant is simple but delicious. Dinner was buffet style and consisted of swahili rice, beans, beef, spicy noodles, kachumbari, bread, tea and coffee. Breakfast was very simple and included omelette, chapatti, coffee and tea. Despite the simplicity of the food, it was very tasty and we were very pleased.

Emmanuel is a nice person and he accommodated our needs very well. He even asked if I wanted to go in the kitchen and help the women cook...lol...and I happily accepted :)
I had a wonderful time. I got to put pili pili in the spaghetti dish the women were making for lunch.

The inn has a place for campfire. Usually people staying at the inn gather around the campfire after dinner and share their stories. During our stay we had the pleasure of having interesting conversations with people from Germany, France, and Holland.

The inn also has access to a soccer field. My kids really enjoyed playing soccer with the village kids here. Since we were so high up we could see the clouds cover the field and that was really cool.

There are a lot of activities one can do from this place, such as hiking along the cliffs, discovering caves, exploring the shagayu forest etc...walking through the pine forests is something one should not miss. Mambo village has a couple of places to eat as well. I would also buy some local jams made by the Usambara sisters.

Although the inn advertises free wifi it was not working during our stay. It seems that running water is also an issue here. We had to flush the toilets using bucket water. Hot water was available upon request if you had to take a shower. However, these issues were ignored considering the positives this place had to offer.

Overall, we had a wonderful time. This is an absolutely gorgeous place and staying here is once in a lifetime experience!!! If I am in the Usambara's some day, I would come to stay at the Mambo Cliff Inn again.
