Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a wonderful stay at Müllers! Beautiful family cottages, nice green gardens, warm friendly staff and okay food. Staff took excellent care of us during our stay, lit the open fire place at night and guided our kids in looking for chameleons in the gardens. We found fresh flowers in our room every day, and thoroughly enjoyed this small hidden gem in the hills of Lushoto!

We stayed in this hotel as a family. Hotel has very large space, beautiful garden and flowers. one can play, walk on garden. We stayed near reception cottages which were great. There was slight service delay on food serving but upon us raising concern with manager she sorted it out.

Mullers is set in the Usumbara mountains at about 1600m altitude so its a good place to visit to get away from the heat in February. To us the setting and the main house seemed like stepping into a 1930's time warp and into a country home on the set of an Agatha Christie murder! The gardens are beautiful and the house was designed by a British architect in the 1930's in an "Arts and Crafts" style. Anther positive (at least for me) was the food. There are lots of vegetarian choices and all the veg comes from the organic garden attached to the house. For 3 of the 4 nights we stayed there we were the only guests and we found the staff very friendly and willing to chat to us.
So much for the positives. Unfortunately the place is let down by the rooms. We looked at a couple before deciding on the least-bad option. They are very basic - concrete floors painted red, dirty walls in need of painting, ill-fitting windows and doors that mosquitoes seem to pass through with ease and uncomfortable beds. If only someone would spend a bit of time and money to fix these. In the meantime you get the sense that the hotel is slowly decaying. A pity - it could be so elegant.

My friends and I always enjoy spending time at Muller's, the staff and owner are very helpful and welcoming. The rooms are clean and water hot. We had access to a guide to take for hiking and other nearby attractions like the Mkuzu waterfalls.
Very quiet and tranquil surrounded by trees and forest nearby.

We stayed here for 2 luxury nights during a camping cycle tour from Nairobi (Kenya) to Bagamoyo (Tanzania). For our 3 days in the Usambara mountains we stayed in this lodge.
Staffed by wonderful people and with -for us- great luxuries like a great room, WiFi and Gin & Tonics the lodge was a true haven.
Owner Tina Muller and the team were lovely and also connected us to the local community by facilitating that we plant 150 trees with the local primary school.
A great place and highly recommended for those wanting to spend time in these beautiful and lush mountains.

A beautiful place in a beautiful location.
Muller Lodge is like nowhere else we have stayed in Africa. 1930s German architecture in a gorgeous mountain setting.
We stayed here just one night enroute from Kili to Saadani game park - a perfect rest stop.
Warm welcome from staff and the lady owner.
Delicious food.
We stayed in one of the beautiful lodges.
The plumbing is “African” but it worked and the shower was hot.
Clean comfortable bed.
The mature gardens are a delightful place to relax - full of fascinating plants and some amazing trees.
The dark wood panelled lounge with its book shelves and fireplace seemed to have been airlifted from a National Trust house in the UK!
Unreserved recommendation for this gem in the mountains.
Shame we only had one night here.
Thank you for a great stay.

I felt very pampered at Mullers Mountain Lodge. Tina, the owner/manager, has really invigorated the place - everything looks fresh. The food is great. The staff are very attentive and charming. The historic building is picturesque and fascinating. The gardens are gorgeous. The air is cool. Extremely good value for money. This was my favorite memory from my recent trip to Tanzania. I loved having my morning coffee in the garden, and my evening glass of red, looking at the garden and the beautiful heritage buildings. I would definitely stay there if I ever go to Lushoto again.

It is my second time staying here with our guests during our birding trip.
I can not recommend Mullers mountain Lodge more highly.
The staff were so friendly and the service was incredible throughout our stay.
The meals are amazing, the complimentary breakfast meant you didn't need lunch.
If you are heading to Lushoto, look no further than Mullers Mountain Lodge.

Great lodge in the Usambara Mountains, very remote, so you need a car in any case, but then you can enjoy the absolute peace, the climate and the vegetation. The staff are absolutely committed and always helpful, not always totally professional, but that has its charm. The food is plentiful and good, the price absolutely justifiable. I will be very happy to come back and sit in the wonderful garden in the evening.

The place is stunning. Exquisite and romantic. A 1930 building made us travel through time and enjoy every moment. Rooms are very clean and well arranged. Surroundings are beautiful with short grasses and fruit trees. The meal was so delicious spiced with excellent customer services.
