Mambo View Point occupies a stunning location on the edge of the Usambara mountains overlooking the Pare region below.

We stayed in Fix House, one of several cottages on site, and had stunning views from our windows and from the terraced area in front of the cottage. The cottage was traditionally decorated and had a large well furnished bedroom and a large bathroom. Abdul and the rest of the staff made sure we were very comfortable there.

We stayed on a full board basis and meals were prepared by local staff and taken buffet style in a communal dining area, encouraging guests to chat together at meal times. The food was tasty and plentiful. Drinks were available from an “honesty bar” with your bar bill totalled on departure from the record you made of drinks taken.

Many local activities could be booked through Mambo View. We made several short hikes with a local guide, Joseph, to enjoy the scenery and the local area. Joseph was an excellent guide and we also learnt a lot about the local culture, lifestyle and agriculture. We also did an early morning bird walk with Ally which was also fun and we saw some new birds for us.

Mambo View also organised a two day safari in Mkomazi National Park for us, our guide Ally was good at spotting animals and birds for us and was a great driver, his car was well equipped and reliable.

Mkomazi NP is beautiful and we enjoyed the wildlife, including seeing Gerenuk for the first time, and our visit to the Rhino Sanctuary where the rangers took us out to meet the breeding rhino’s in the conservation programme. Ally was a great guide and it was a pleasure to spend time with him.

It is quite a trip up to Mambo View Point from Mombo through Lushoto but in our view it is one well worth taking.

When you first arrive at the very top of the mountain you're most likely tired after the long trip. Perhaps it's already evening, so you just eat your dinner from an unending buffet and go to bed. When you wake up in the morning you cannot believe your eyes. I mean it, the views are UNBELIEVABLE, they are imprinted in your brain forever once you open the doors of your cottage and walk out into a terrace that hangs on an edge of a cliff and feeds you a landscape of mountains, plains and the Kilimanjaro looming in the distance. You are on the roof of the whole area, enjoying the clouds rolling over mountain tops on a daily basis. I used to just look at the overwhelming beauty of surrounding for hours there.

The cottages are a blend of traditional design and modern amenities, they are nicely furnished inside with comfy beds and chairs. The bathrooms are completely modern with hot water, large mirrors and everything else you might need to look like a rock star while enjoying the views and hikes.

The food is amazing! Prepared by local cooks from local products, every day freshly cooked, divided into three meals a day. The buffet serving-style means you can eat as much as you want and if you are in need of something special, like extra pancakes in the morning, or vegetarian options all you need to do is ask the cooks, or the managers. I've lived there for over 4 months and because of the buffet I have put on weight - not proud of myself, but there you have it.

The staff is super friendly, the guides competent and knowledgable in terms of the entire area and its points of interest. The hikes are epic, you can ever walk down from the mountains into the plains and take part in a safari in the Mkomazi National Park. It's a long, but very satisfying trip. Everything is flexible and tailored to your needs, so finding something that suits you shouldn't be a problem at all.

Oh, did I mention I got married there? No? Well, I did and it was epic, couldn't think of a nicer location for a wedding. Unique experience to say the least.

All in all: well worth visiting, you're never going to forget your stay at Mambo View Point Eco Lodge!!! :)

MamboViewPoint is a lovely place with undoubtedly amazing views. It is VERY far off the beaten track - a multiple hour car ride from the main road. However, it is worth the trip. Because it is far from amenities meals are provided and the staff is very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay - our room was lovely and all of the environmentalist touches really made us feel at home.

Mamboview point lives up to its hype! Perched on a cliff overlooking the African plains below and Kilimanjaro in the distance, the views can’t get much better. They have a wide variety of rooms for all budgets, I stayed in the chameleon cottage which was very comfortable. The best I’ve slept all trip in the fresh temperatures at 1900 metered,?with the only noise coming from
the wind and birds. The staff are friendly and the the food is served in buffet fashion, large portions of delicious and fresh local cuisine. An added bonus is that it is an eco lodge so it’s good for the environment and the lodge puts a lot of money back into the community via different programs. Come check it out for yourself, you won’t be dissatisfied! I came for 1 night and stayed for 3! Can’t wait to come back for longer next time.

Everything here is made to appreciate the nature, forest and the view. The lodges are built in a way you feel the only one in this splendid place. You can relax, walk around in the mountains, through the villages not yet touched by tourism. In the night monkeys in the trees and in the day calm of a tropical garden. Local food, really tasty. Many options for walking activities to discover the region. In the morning you can see Kilimanjaro far away. The lodges are simple but comfortable. If you feel like spending some time out of civilisation, surrounded by nature but still in comfort don’t hesitate. I have stayed a few days and I will return. Dagmara who takes care of the place is a special person. She will advise you on everything. The staff is helpful and smiling. The second day you feel already at home.

We stayed at Mambo Viewpoint for 4 days and were sooo happy to find this unique place. Not only it is located on top of beautiful Usumbara mountains (which are stunning for hiking, bike riding or just plain walking) but the hosts are super friendly and genuinely care about their guests. Dagmara made us feel at home right away, rooms were cozy and the views breathtaking. On top of it you did not have to think about food as we had full board which meant warm, tasty grub was always there.
We recommend Mambo Viewpoint wholeheartedly as it is quiet, peaceful, tranquil and private with abundance of activities around.
Thanks guys!

Mambo ViewPoint is built by local craftsmen and local materials. It's absolutely stunning. The room we were in was very spacious with full glass windows and an a-ma-zing view! We spend a couple of days here to enjoy the beautiful area and did several hikes, but also had time to read some books and sit by the fireplace. We were lucky enough to be there on a Thursday, market day in Mambo, which was a colourful event.

Staff is very lovely and helpful too. The owners of the lodge are social entrepreneurs and have a warm hart for the local community. More reason to stay here. We had an amazing stay and will definitely return to Mambo ViewPoint. When planning a trip to the Usumbara mountains make sure to put Mambo ViewPoint on your list of must-stay accommodations.

What an incredible place! Every day was a new adventure with phenomenal hiking - the forest is so diverse, the local village is so quaint and everyone very friendly. Keep space in your luggage for some beautiful hand made pottery from a local woman's cooperative. The staff at Mambo Viewpoint are friendly and make you feel at home instantaneously. Special shout out to Joseph for being an awesome guide! We stayed in the luxury tents and were pleasantly surprised at how spacious and comfortable it was. The food is delicious, always a healthy variety and you can tell its made with love. And the views, wow... You have to see it for yourself!

Living in Tanzania (and having spent time in many other African countries), we have been fortunate enough to visit many beautiful and incredible places. This said, we have NEVER been somewhere as unique and breath takingly beautiful as Mambo Viewpoint! The accommodation, location and natural beauty is truly extraordinary. This combined with excellent management (Dagmara, you are fantastic!), helpful and friendly staff and excellent guides, makes for the perfect stay off the beaten track. From the setting of the lodge, to the magnificent views, to the accessibility of true primary rain forest, there are seemingly endless ways to spend your days. Whether you just want to go somewhere to truly relax or get active and see a natural environment like no other, you can't go wrong. I would very much recommend going there for at least 3 nights (more if you cam, you won't want to leave), if possible, to give yourself the time to truly relax, enjoy and experience Mambo. Honestly, if this is even on your radar as an option of destination, don't hesitate. Although we all have different tastes, I cannot think of anyone who would not find this location and lodge truly fantastic!

We spent 3 nights (2 at luxury tent, 1 at cottage) at Mambo View Point with our 8 month old during Christmas. Management and staff is very helpful, view are breathtaking and food is truly amazing (they are very flexible in terms of your dietary restrictions!). Both luxury tent and cottage were very clean and comfortable (they have really warm blankets!). We had two short walks with guides (around the village and rain forest) - both were interesting (remember about sunscreen even if you think there is no sun).
The owners and manager do a great job there supporting the village.

Highly recommended!

Hi Iam! We are on a 1900 meter altitude with a moderate climate, no need for air conditioning! Instead we have stoves for the chilly winter evenings. :-)

Hi Taha! We are on 2 hours from Lushoto town. Coming to Mambo is easy. The best way is to take an express bus (road Arusha-Dar es Salaam) and get off in Mombo. We are happy to pick you from there. The pick-up is included in our all inclusive packages. There is also a direct bus from Arusha to Mtae, which is 3km past Mambo. However the last one is a kind of "local experience" :-)
