Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We (parents with two young adult children) stayed here for four nights. The guesthouse is a simple but descent place to stay some 30 minutes walking from the Lushoto town centre. The final part of the road from Lushoto to the guesthouse is unpaved, bumpy and rather steep, but local taxis have no problem reaching it. We enjoyed the rural local atmosphere of the guesthouse. The bathrooms (and especially the wash-stands) were small, although the showers were good. Our host Jackson was very friendly and helpful in organizing transport and trips in the surroundings.

The guesthouse was perfect for our group consisting of two family’s. It had very nice rooms and bathrooms and toilets were sufficient and clean. We were served diner every evening and enjoyed the local food for a good price.
Jackson and staf were very friendly and supportive. Jackson helped us to plan our days and even to organise transport to the next place on our journey.

As it turns out Milemeleni is a Lodge and Guest House. But they are two separate places. The pictures and information are misleading. The Lodge has the lobby and restaurant and is on a separate property. The Lodge is rented by itself. The Guest House, on the other hand is on a separate property in the village. You have to leave the Lodge property and cross the road and down an unlit path. Public paths run next to an insecure Guest House. It has no lobby, nor sitting room nor dining room. Dining tables are set on a veranda with no fireplace or place to interact with other visitors or staff. Food is brought down to the Guest House.

The Guest House rooms are not provided with mosquito nets, and the manager assured me that there are no mosquitos here. But I have been attacked by anopheles mosquitos, and am only saved by insect repellent.

The bedrooms are clean and comfortable but I had to request a writing table and chair to be delivered to my room.

Food was to be delivered by 6:00, but it has been more than an hour, and I have not been served.

Although the Lodge and Guest House are listed on Facebook, there is no clear description of the difference in services and amenities between the Lodge and the Guest House.

Simple Guesthouse, great value for money. Nice view from the balcony and pleasant atmosphere. Staff is very friendly, food is homemade and very good. It's possible to do the walk to the viewpoints from the guesthouse and/or go walking to Irente Farm for lunch (about 30 minutes walk). Only thing missing is some hooks in the toilet for hanging towels and clothes.

Milemeleni guesthouse is a good budget location, with good value-for-money. It is situated a bit outside Lushoto, up in the hills wih a beautiful view from the terrace. The rooms are basic but decent, with good (shared) bathrooms. The breakfast, which is included, is heavenly in the morning sun with a view on the mountains, and Jackson the owner can advice on you on hikes in the surroundings.
I would however not recommend having dinner at the guesthouse, because it is a bit overpriced for what you get. Moreover, the manager of the hostel is helpful in arranging excursions, but I would not go on a tour with him as a guide, like we (unexpectedly) did. The lack of enthusiasm and knowledge did not live up to our expectations. So perhaps it's better to book an excursion through one of the small tour companies in town.

The room was pretty and clean; the bed very comfortable, the stuff so kind and helpful and the food delicius and vegetarian. We got chanted with the area. From there starts the most common trekking trips, that you can make by your own with the owners help.
