Not walking distance to much but with a car good location. Old two storey building and does not look much from outside. However inside is very modern and updated. Rooms are very good and well appointed. Restaurant for dinner is great and very popular. Excellent staff in all areas
It was our third stay over some 5 years. We enjoyed it most. Rooms have been refreshed, are very clean and functional, curtains are blackout. Provided the price we have paid for 2 adults and a teenager on a sofa bed it was very good value. There are 2 bottles of water in the fridge, parking is free. You can open the window a little for some fresh air. The bed is not that comfortable but not so bad either. There is a shower, not bathtub - quite typical in chain hotels in France. I have been recognised as a gold member with free drink voucher and only expensive cognac was excluded from the choices unlike in most other properties so it was a nice treat. You have shopping centre few minutes drive, which is very handy for stocking on goodies on the way home. In the hot sumner you can enjoy outdoor swimming pool. The receptionists and barman was very pleasant. Upon checkout we were asked how our stay was. We will return for its practical aspects, nice staff and good value. …
A good place to stopover a night on the way to Paris. Two storey level of hotel. Room is spacious and decent breakfast. Quiet and relax stay. Not much amenties around. One day stay was enough. It will be bored after a few days.
Great hotel ideally situated for those who wish to visit the battlefields. Lovely helpful staff. Breakfast was not wanting for anything. Great for large groups and also the individual travelers. 30 mins to cross the border and get to Ypres And a short drive from calais.
I stayed here for several days for business. During my stay I ate at the restaurant a few times, and also grabbed a quick sandwich at the bar to take back to my room. This hotel was refurbished a number of years ago when it changed from Novotel to Holiday inn. I stayed when the rooms had just been done and it was nice. Modern, clean, etc. During this stay (my 3rd time since the first), I can see that the hotel is looking tired. The exterior of the hotel needs paint, the carpet in the hallways is coming up, and the décor in the rooms is looking it's age - used and abused by countless guests. So... don't expect a top notch experience in terms of looks. On the other side... the staff has been very awesome. Everyone smiles says hello, and really wants to give you the best experience possible. I appreciate this level of politeness, especially when I'm traveling from out of the country. The food in the hotel restaurant has been good... not a fine dining experience in any way, but good. There is a special (perhaps by week) on the menu, and a decent selection of salads, sandwiches, apps, and other fare... a good enough selection that anyone should find something they like. Same with the alcohol... they don't have a lot, but a decent selection. Breakfast in the morning is decent as well.. fresh breads, cereals, meat & cheese, yogurt and some hot items like pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, etc. To be honest, I'd like the hotel to be a little nicer. I didn't pay a lot (110 per night), but I am also not staying in downtown Lille. Still, I have stayed at much nicer looking hotels for the same price, and this is Holiday Inn... I expect a bit more. Wrinkled carpeting, and tired beaten décor aside, the staff is great, and the food is good... if you need a place to stay and the décor doesn't bother you, you could do worse.…
