This motel is located on the northern approach to Taihape.
It’s an older motel; but is clean & in good condition.
The staff were very pleasant; & helpful.
The only real issue is because it’s located on the main road & opposite a main rail line; there can be a noise issue at night, which will affect some, more than others.
Personally, I would stay here again; my wife had an issue with the noise.
We stayed for 3nights in early March, ‘23; to catch up with family & friends in the Taihape area, whilst travelling between Auckland & Wellington.

Room Tip: Traffic noise at night, might be an issue for some. Close to town; just up from the big Gumboot,...

Older looking from the road our one night unit was welcoming, warm and cosy. Updated bathroom, comfortable bed, plenty of TV channels and scrupulously clean. Would definitely stay agaim. Very pleasant and helpful proprietor.
If you are a light sleeper complimentary ear plugs provided to block out the passing trucks heading through the Desert Rd ahead. Personally, I am a light sleeper, didn't use ear plugs and slept like a baby . Stepped outside in the morning to a surprisingly hard frost but our unit was warm even without a heater running all night.

We arrived after dark on a very cold wintry night. We were lucky to get the last unit as they had just had a cancellation. Warm welcome, cosy motel with excellent heating and tv reception. Comfy bed. Everything we needed for a good night's sleep. The hostess was very helpful, turning on the heating and electric blankets for us before she wished us a pleasant stay. Immaculately clean and well cared for. This will be our stop over in Taihape from now on.

3rd time staying here with a bunch of mates on a motorcycle holiday . The owner Lilly wasn’t on site on Boxing Day but pre-arranged to leave the keys out for us. As always the units were clean tidy and comfortable . It may be a slightly older motel in a small New Zealand town and to everyone’s liking but it is an awesome motel and I highly recommend it

Pleasant Experience
An older motel but very comfortable. Just one night there in the middle of winter, but the heater warmed the room up, the bed was very comfortable, and we were very happy and had a good night’s sleep! Would recommend if you’re looking for a bed in Taihape!

Average motel. Adequate facilities. Right next to the main highway. Traffic noise could be heard all night long. Good clean room. Free wi-fi connection. No chance of getting a good night's sleep if you are not used to heavy traffic noise.

Made a late booking a couple of hours before arriving at 8pm. Manager had put heater and light on for me, much appreciated. Units are basic and older style, but very very clean, and a great comfy bed. Had a great sleep. Would stay again for sure.

Lovely proprietor.
Good size rooms.
Nice and clean.
Generous with coffee makings plates etc.
Beds a little on the hard side, older style motel.

Road noise a issue if not used to it...but all Tihapes accommodations are roadside so no getting around that.

Hi Patrick Sorry for late reply,we have been away for the day.Within 5 or 6 mins walk from motel there are several nice resaurants and also several fast food outlets. Within an hours drive there are some wonderful mountain hikes ranging from 1hr to all day Cheers Graham
