Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

These are very modest motel units so not for those wanting 4 star accommodation. But the bed was super comfy and warm (with electric blanket if needed), the bed linen was clean and the towels plentiful and soft and fluffy. It is in a perfect location walking distance to the township and Taihape is very picturesque surrounded by green rolling hills. Unfortunately I got sick whilst staying at this motel and the staff kindly asked me if I wanted anything picked up from the supermarket. I have never encountered that service anywhere else in any country !

This was an unexpected treat. We had driven from Hamilton - had not booked in advance, and had failed to find accommodation in Rotorua or Taupo, so we were grateful for this last minute deal.

It was just great! Plenty of space, comfortable beds, parking. There is a nice restaurant next door and we had a delicious meal to round off our long day.

Taihepe itself is a treat. We loved it.

After many years of staying here with the previous owner the new management have no idea what they are doing the price changed twice and wen I complained about the cleaning and lack of towels and supplies the manager tried to blame the staff. We booked the whole villa as we always have which was price for the villa. On leaving they tried to charge us per person which was not as per agreement or their website. Once a cute looking motel now looks cheap and empty and shoddy and certainly not recommended to anyone. If they want a backpackers then advertise it as such

Unfortunately the units we stayed in did not match the pictures on the website and we felt it was overpriced. Units smelt damp. Bathroom door didn’t shut at all and it had carpet in there which I can only assume contributed to the smell of the whole unit.

If all you want is a clean, comfortable bed, this place may be just adequate for one night. The units are old, with some fittings and furniture that look like they date from the 70s. Curtains were too small for the windows and needed repair. The unit smelt of stale tobacco smoke. The outside of the motel is scruffy and unappealing.
Management need to lift their game and invest in improvements.

We stopped here overnight to break up a trip from Wellington to Rotorua. Where to start? I felt like I was in an episode of Fawlty Towers, but minus the laughs.
It was a cold night and we arrived around 6pm. The units are concrete block construction so the place was like an ice box when we went in. The people in the units around us were very noisy until well after midnight and up at 5:30am. We decided to get and get on the road only to find there was no hit water for a shower!
Everything was very clean, but the units are old, straight out of the 70s. The website pictures and write up bear no resemblance to reality!

Had an excellent nights accommodation. Very good value for money. Very clean and tidy, with great, friendly service.
A good number of rooms and right in town. Very quiet, with no road noise,
If going to stay in Taihape, I recommend this motel.

We arrived in Taihape early evening with no accommodation arranged. Found the Taihape Motel and luckily they had a studio unit vacant, with 2 queen size beds. Very helpful manager who told us we could have a queen bed each if we wanted!! We didn't want to increase the laundry so didn't take him up on that offer but enjoyed the chips supplied. The unit's furnishings took us back to the 70's but it was clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. Just what we needed after a long day on the road.

It isn't flash but it had absolutely everything we needed. Set back from SH1 so there is little road noise. We did cook and found the kitchen had what we needed. WiFi worked fine. No complaints at all and we would definitely stay there again if we need a stop-over in Taihape.
