It has been a while since we have been in an hotel, and this was the perfect place to start returning to travel. We stayed two nights in two separate room with shared bath and toilets (ABSOLUTELY NOT A PROBLEM). The room were charming, tasteful and above all CLEAN. The same can be said for the toilets and showers, no issues what so ever.
The views from the rooms were spectacular on the surrounding mountains and the glacier. We have had quite a bit of rain recently and all the waterfalls were at full capacity which made for some dramatic scenery.
The breakfast was first rate with a wide range of choices buffet style. We were also offered an egg as an accompanyment. I also have a personal like, 3 espressos in one cup and this was not too much of a request, the server even had it ready for me the next morning, what service. She is an exceptional gracious hostess with a charm, sense of humor that makes any guest feel right at home.
We also had two dinners here, which are included in the room rate and the food was delicious. The staff was also top notch, friendly and approachable. You could taste the care and love with each course, really a treat.
The hotel itself is in an ideal location, close to all but yet far enough away. The Postauto Bus trip is included and gets you up the hill to Grosse Scheidegg where many more hikes await.
The specialness of the hotel makes it unique and a wonderful place to lay our head, the staff are top notch and so friendly and courteous, we enjoyed ourselves so much we booked our next adventure with them next year for 1 day longer, we can hardly wait to return.

I booked three nights at this authentically beautiful old hotel, and as others have mentioned below, it is like going back in time to a place where cell phones and wifi didn't exist and people paid attention to each other instead.
The interior decor is just stunning from the flowered wallpaper, carved wooden ceilings, antique furniture which you are free to sit on or prowl through their book selections in the many bookcases, play a game of chess or just sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the peace and quiet in such an unique setting.
The meals were top notch, dining fit for a five star restaurant and served with grace and style. Dinner is served at 18:00 and breakfast is served at 7:00. During the day you can eat outside on their lovely patio where you are quickly served heaping plates of goodness with a very friendly smile.
Bathrooms are shared, but there was never any problem. Toilets and showers are in their own seperate rooms. One for guys and one for gals.
The staff was quite lively and a lot of fun, the Tuesday night soiree was performed by a group of local yodelers, done very nicely with class and perfection.
Love this hotel and always wanted to stay here. Lived up to and above my expectations.
And the hiking in this valley is superb! Free Postbus pass included with your stay.
TIP: Check out the waterfalls behind the hotel! To the left around the back of the hotel you will find the trail.

What really makes this Hotel is it's setting just pure bliss. Unlimited areas to wonder around and explore. We enjoyed sitting outside at the hotel Rosenlaui's restaurant. The apricot pie is very good. This is a must even for a day trip, the whole area is so beautiful, stop at the restaurant and get something to eat or drink, there is even a waterfall nearby.

I don’t know a better place to reorganize «home from home» a few days, to enjoy anti-hustle (and very fine food!) after a hectic time. Beautiful halls and rooms, the highest standard of friendliness – and lots of books. Thanks to the best hosts!

We wanted to enjoy the atmosphere but were misunderstood by the staff who showed no professional competence. This culminated in the boss having the nerve to refuse to give us any direction and to send us away! The reason given was that his professionally incompetent staff were more important to him than the customers. We have been visiting the Bernese Oberland every year for over 12 years now and will continue to do so.

A wonderful and exciting journey into the past... Wonderful stay with a visit to the fascinating Rosenlaui Gorge (and on the way home stop at the Reichenbach Falls)... Really time travel into the past - no WiFi, no mobile phones in the restaurants and lounges... very slowing down!!! Super fine eaten and breakfasted...

Everything was perfect; the reservation, the welcome, the service, the ambience. Everything is just right here. The lunch was very good, fresh, beautifully presented and prepared. We didn't have to wait, our group was served efficiently. The quality of the food was excellent. The price-performance ratio was great. A model for Swiss gastronomy. Friendly, relaxed and easy-going as it should be everywhere, empathetic. Go there, it's worth it.

A few days without electronics helps you relax. A beautiful area for leisurely hikes. The nearby Rosenlaui Gorge has a lot to offer and is the most beautiful, diverse gorge I know. The free post bus ticket is practical. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful hotel with atmosphere. The food is phenomenal: with a lot of imagination, but not artificial. We were at the Rosenlaui Hotel for the first time, but certainly not the last. Highly recommended.

I didn’t stay in this hotel, although it was highly recommended by someone who had. But, today’s walk led me to this hotel in time for lunch, so I popped in, and what a pleasure it was. A stunning gracious hotel, what little I saw of the dining room and even the toilets, but I ate outside in the gorgeous garden terrace. Great food, great service, exquisite location.

One of the best hotel experiences ever, anywhere! A gem in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by spectacular landscapes & mountains yet accessible by car and Postauto. The hotel is virtually unchanged from the early 1900's and is family operated. It offers seclusion and privacy (no phones, TV, internet etc) and great relaxation. The cuisine is superb and the overall service first class led by a very friendly and attentive owner. Highly recommended - we plan to visit regularly.

hi, i think you'll probably find the answer to your questions on the website (there's also an english version). it's not possible to post website links in tripadvisor answers -- just google hotel rosenlaui.
or else write an email to the hotel: info@rosenlaui.ch
some swiss cantons start autumn school holidays the last week of september, most only the first week of october. for weekends in september you'd probably need to book in advance (a couple of weeks) esp. if you want a room with a view.
"We stayed in a corner room with windows facing two directions - lovely and light. It's worth paying more for a front-facing room, but if you're traveling on a budget, you'll still get a good deal with the cheaper rooms. There is a beautiful library and lounge to hang out in - or sit outside and take in the view."
There are more places to choose from in the Rosenlaui area.
