Formerly the summer residence of an industrial family from Berne, Leissigen youth hostel is now a holiday oasis, offering stylish, comfortable rooms, many with lake view. The youth hostel "Albert Wander Haus" is situated in the idyllic little village of Leissigen, right on the Lake of Thun. There's plenty of space for children to play and for adults to relax in its wide open surroundings and on its pebble beach. An ideal location for family holidays. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful old house with lots of character, right on the lake shore. It has its own little beach and if the weather had been better, it would have been absolutely perfect.
The staff were reall friendly and breakfast was good, just like in a small hotel.

What a special place. I emailed in advance and asked for Room 2 and am deeply grateful to have had that room for our 2 nights. Huge room, huge balcony over looking the lake and mountains, beautiful 100 year old white hand painted twin beds, two sinks. Just gorgeous. We went in May half term and it was very quiet - only a handful of other guests. The staff were really friendly and helpful - the nice man from Cuba and Silvia.

The hostel is about a 5 minute walk from the train station - you have to look carefully to spot the signs and if you're English like me you'll probably think you're going the wrong way as you begin right next to the train tracks which would not be possible in the UK. But keep going - you are on track! (literally!).

If you are searching for beauty, peace and tranquillity at an affordable price this is the place for you. Also wonderful for children with the lake at the garden's edge to paddle in, a hammock and even toys and games inside. Sun loungers for adults that you could spend all day in just looking at the lake. The best hostel I've ever stayed in.

The hostel was rustic with a beautiful view. The breakfast was mediocre. The staff was friendly. I would rate it higher but my room was the size of a closet and it was not pleasant. It was centrally located for the things I needed which made it a convenient stop.

We loved the view from hostel's common area although are room backed on to a high speed rail line. The food was good and the rooms are basic and we slept ok in the bunk beds. The pine walls are nice.

Our only complaint is the proximity of the rail line, the trains went by at what seems like 100 km/h right outside our window.

We would consider returning if we were on a budget and wanted to be right on the lake.

What to say?I know it’s a Hostel, but a 133Euro/night one, and this is what you get, a 10mq room with a balcony and they didn’t allowed to park the motorbike not even outside of it. Everything is written in GERMAN expecting everybody to speak it. The staff is good and polite and the location is lovely. To dine you can do there but within 21:00 so we had to go to an Italian restaurant in the surroundings (which was very good and not so expensive being in Switzerland, 92Euro, Il Grottino, ran by Italians from Naples).(They keep on doing the change 1 on 1 even if Euro worths more; my fault I had to change money!).
