Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our family of three (mum, dad and 9 year old) enjoyed the so totally peaceful location so close to New Plymouth. We stayed three nights in a family unit (2 bedroom) and wished for a fourth. The short walk to the beach was fantastic. Our gadget addicted son had a ball at the little beach each low tide and for this reason we were glad to have limited phone and WiFi for the duration of our stay. The hosts were just lovely. The fully appointed unit was very clean even if a bit dated (full kitchen facilities including an oven). We traveled back and forth to see family in New Plymouth while there and it felt like no distance.

Awesome owners, beautiful views and a very comfortable and attractive studio room.
The special touches made our stay perfect.
The location is ideal.
A track to the local beach or a drive will make it a wonderful holiday location year round.
We have booked for a summer holiday here.

We love this place! So much so that we've stayed here several times. The hosts are so warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We have stayed in the newly renovated honeymoon room which is our fave, but we've also stayed in the other units which are huge and comfy. The beach is just down the hill. You're also close to Urenui and to the very cool Wai iti beach, great for beach walks and if you're lucky a view of Mt Taranaki. Thoroughly recommend staying here, it's one of our go to destinations, for a weekend or for longer

I am drawing my comparison to what I can get for $15 more at the Dawson Motel. The location is great and the owners are lovely. BUT this is grossly overpriced for what you get and the quality of the fitout etc. These are tired motels.
1. No phone reception and no landline phone to overcome this
2. No Wi-fi that works
3. No Sky which I would have considered a given these days
4. Lots of repairs needed Light out in the bathroom. Electric blanket only went on one side and plug curled up on the other side, so they knew. Bed poor quality
5. Towels were Warehouse Essential Brand and small and thin
6. If you go to the bathroom and close the sliding door it self opens unless you hook a latch
7. To stop this sliding door rolling back into the wall crevice a rather nasty long screw is screwed into the bottom of the door. I do query the safety of this
8 They were very generous with coffee, tea and milk supplies and just lovely people so it is such a shame.
It advertises with a view, but this does not exist as the plants on the lower level of the site have grown up above the balcony railing so the only way to enjoy the view is to stand. Not what we expected.
The walls are very thing
9. It has fabulous covered parking, but it really needs a good wash and spruce up.
I would like to think this review will encourage the owners to look at the property with fresh eyes. I understand they have been long term owners and maybe are a little complacent.
10.Drop the price to $105 and it would be a great match.

The Seaview Motel is in a beautiful seaside location. Waking up to bird song was a pleasant surprise. The beach is set in a awesome little cove with breathtaking views. The owners were helpful from booking to check out! The room was serviced every morning which was appreciated. It was spacious and very comfortable. High level of cleanliness. Definitely a must.

Spent a night here while in the area for work. Clean and tidy. Friendly hosts. Lovely view out to sea. Unit had everything I needed. Far from anywhere. I went to Cafe 487 for dinner which was also very nice.

A great place for a weekend away. The beach with easy access was a lovely swim. The rooms were clean and tidy, with an overall 'retro' feel to the motel that was quiet and relaxing. Nearby White Cliffs Walkway is a good adventure but you need to time the tides right.

We got married on 2nd of June and booked to stay here for our honeymoon. We have stayed here twice before and just love it. Away from main road, no noise except hearing the sea. Super friendly hosts, unit clean and heater on when we arrived. Fresh towels each day also. Lovely walk down to the beach from the hotel and not a long drive to New Plymouth. We found this place a few years ago strictly by chance as NP was full with no accommodation, thinking we would have to just drive home we saw the sign for Seaview and so glad we decided to check it out. Will definitely be back again.

How does a wonderfully appointed, big, clean, modern motel with unsurpassed views looking out from a big deck though native bush out to the sea directly looking at the Maui gas-field sound? It's not too good to be true - it does exist at this place. Only a short drive North from New Plymouth this is the ultimate luxury for realistic prices. Great big room with all facilities, bush around and a lovely walk down to the beach area. At low tide you can go quite some distance along the beach. The cliff walls are lovely colours and the silence is just great. Recommend booking and ask for unit 4 (the others haven't been refurbished and don't have the views or standard as no. 4). You will not be disappointed.

We happened on this place on a recommendation from another operator who was booked out.We are so glad as the place was super clean, from a another era but that has its charm for two boomers, and just so peaceful.A private walk down to an elevated fishing spot and a short drive to a lovely beach.A ten minute drive to a cafe nearby and a four square store. We loved our one night stay and will be back for a longer stay in the very near future.
