My son and I had heaps of fun here, staff were super helpful. We stayed in the cabin which was clean cozy and had everything we need as well as extras like outdoor games ect . The beach is nice and quiet ,my son loves exploring the changing landscape with the tides , as well as kayaking in the river and throwing a fishing line over the bridge,a lovely safe and friendly little place to spend time together

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in the lovely new glamping bell tents. It was amazing. Beautiful decor, lovely linen , great pillows on the bed and it just felt so welcoming. We were given a chilly Bin with ice in it to keep things cold and a very warm welcome. A wee bit more lighting could be useful as when sitting in bed reading light wasn’t sufficient but apart from that no complaints at all. Would really recommend.

Fabulous Campground, owners very friendly and hospitable. Heaps to do from boggie boarding at beach, fishing, kayaking up the river. Great playground. Very clean and tidy amenities. Great big field for playing cricket etc, kite flying or other activities. Lovely big sites

We have been visiting Onaero for about 5 years, camping in powered sites. It a nice kiwi camp site with a river for swimming and fishing. The beach is good for body boarding and swimming in good weather. Big open spaces. Overalls this is a good campsite.
However since Belgravia has taken this over the cost has slowly risen with them price gouging on long weekends. At over $120 per night for 2 adults and 3 kids, it isn't work it in my opinion. Two years ago it always around $99. If maintained this would be fine, but over the long weekend the toilets were only swept -they smelt of urine and pooo all weekend.
The wifi is also poor and not usable most of the time.
The shop is poorly stocked with no bait, ice ,etc. , They used to be fully stocked.
Has gone downhill alot in terms of cleanliness. Our site was not mowed either , at least half a metre long.
If you are going to charge the price, make sure it's up to standard, I could stay at a top ten for the same cost and have much nicer and cleaner facilities

My husband, myself and our German Shepherd recently spent 3 nights here in our caravan. We got a very warm welcome both over the phone (the lady even asked for our dog's name)! and when we arrived. We had the pick of sites in the whole campground, and we were literally the one ones there! Right on the beach, lovely park like grounds, clean facilities and very relaxing. There is a walkway under the bridge, we walked up a very picturesque rural road. 2 ks to Four Square/Takeaways/Hotel. Highly recommend and would definitely visit again.

Great place to camp with a family. Close to the river and beach. Has a fantastic playground that the kids loved. The host was great and very friendly, the check in was quick and the facilities were very tidy and not far to walk to when needed. Happy to stay there again.

Cherry was super welcoming and helpful. Facilities and camp were very clean. It was nice to have secure areas that were camper access only. Lovely playground for the children. Free wifi, a bit intermittent but it's free

We have just had a weekend at this place with a group of friends and left this morning. Although the camp site itself was nice there were some minor issues. The first morning that we were there I had a cold shower and had to move onto a second one ( thank goodness I took 2 $1 coins with me ) and the main thing that really bothered me was the payment and what I considered over charging. On arrival we booked in at the office and paid our $ 68 for 2 nights , we shared a tent with our friends who had already paid for the site. Later on in the afternoon another lot of our group of friends arrived and they had their own site who also paid $ 68 so it really bothered and annoyed me that we had to pay to share our friends tent on a site that had already been paid for. Due to this, this is a place that we will not be visiting again.

Lovely hospitality from the camp owners and really relaxing 😌 went with my mum dad husband and sister was a so good to be away and enjoy quality time at a peaceful place . The weather was amazing and the beach walk was beautiful

We stayed in a cabin, firstly we were given the wrong keys then had to have a cold shower put in $1 and no hot water , tried the next one as had another $1 and that one didn't work either !! Then only one coffee mug in the cabin. so only one of us could have a coffee the next morning. The steps that lead from the cabins to the old toilets are a health & safety hazard as not spaced evenly, too narrow and slippery, they need replacing. Cabin could do with a side table and lamp. New Management needs to maintain this camp, so disappointing to see this camp like this now...
