The meal was a buffet, but the menu used local ingredients and there was a wide variety, so I was satisfied. Personally, I liked being able to try the rare freshly baked dashimaki rolls at the morning buffet.
You can also take a dip in the hot springs, so I think it's just a nice hotel.

I was surprised to see some pretty harsh reviews.
I went with my husband. I can only say it was the best!
As for the buffet, I do think it could have been a little more... but there were some things that were typical of Shodoshima and the variety was sufficient.
The floor staff and the cooks were all kind and friendly.
The facilities are not new, but they were well-cleaned.
I stayed in October, and if there was one thing I was concerned about, it was that it was in season, so some places (such as the terrace and pool) were not in use during that time, so it looked deserted, which is natural. When I checked in, I like to walk around the hotel, so I ended up seeing it.
Shodoshima itself is a wonderful island, so if you're going to spend the day in a resort-like mood, it's a bit of a letdown.
The bath was perfect! I was able to enjoy the sunset, moon, sunrise, indoor bath, outdoor bath, and outdoor bench.
I was also happy that I could drink coffee freely from the coffee machine in front of the front desk during my stay.
Nowadays, you often see foreign staff working here, but I was happy that there was no harsh or grumpy feeling here.
Even in decent hotels, you often see staff with a grumpy aura regardless of their nationality...
As I was writing this, I thought that this was probably the most pleasant thing about this place.
Prices go up everywhere during summer vacation, so some people may naturally become stingy when the prices go up. I think I would be a bit stingy if I paid 40,000 yen a night.
I go to various places in Okinawa, such as resorts, inns in hot spring areas, hotels in big cities, and business hotels in the countryside, but I always choose facilities with average prices. I think that such people will be more than satisfied with this potato.
I usually only post reviews about things to be careful about and convenient points, but this was a facility that I would like to visit again, including the island, so I will post it as a review of my impressions.
As an aside, if you have wood ear mushrooms with roe at the buffet, please try them.
I liked them so much that I bought some at the shop to take home.
They are delicious. This is also my personal preference.

The rooms are spacious and relatively clean, as they seem to have been renovated.
The staff not involved in service are polite.
Breakfast is average, and the onigiri rice balls they make for you were good.
No)
The quality of the dinner buffet is extremely low.
(Order stop is 20:30, and meals are served until 21:00, but by 20:10 there was already little food and they started cleaning up.)
(We were rushed to check in by 17:00, but we had not been told that there were two meal times, and we had to wait 2.5 hours from check-in.)
(The menu is as follows.)
(Example: 1. Five-color soba The main dish is noodles...are they making fun of me?)
(Example: 2, Dessert fruits are 3 types with low freshness: banana, melon, pineapple)
(Example: 3, No fresh juice, machine-made like a family restaurant)
(Example: 4, Others - Grilled octopus and diced steak are tough, sashimi seems low fresh, overall bad taste = dissatisfied)
● Overall rating
Limited plan 1 person/28,000 yen, this level is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at
It's fine to set a high price, but if the quality doesn't match it or if it's just a quick buck, it's likely to be eliminated in the future

We were three people and staying at the 8th floor with a great view over the Bay of Shodoshima. I recommend to return at least once early in the evening to see the sunset behind the islands. We booked a Japanese room, furnished with Futons which I enjoyed a deep sleep.
For dinner one can book a traditional Japanese meal or choose from many different things at the buffet. It consists of Japanese food as noodles, sashimi or rice, western food as spaghetti or fried chicken and a delicious assortment of dessert.
The location is near Shodoshima port and a good starting point for exploring the island. If you want to be independent, rent a car. There are enough parking lots at the hotel.
They have some English speaking staff, which was extremely helpful. The weekend buffet-dinner and the breakfast buffet offered fantastic, fresh and delicious Japanese food with enough variety of choice to satisfy a picky British palate. The Onsen (hot spring) bath on the twelfth floor with both inside and outside pool and a sauna is excellent and has lovely views, and we were provided with a choice of Yukatas (bath robes), which, in true Japanese fashion, we were allowed to wear around the hotel at all times, even to dinner.
The pool is only open during the summer months and is smaller than it looked in the advertised picture, but the hotel has its own small beach with a diving platform, which made us think about coming back in August.
What really impressed us, though, was the excellent service. I had developed conjunctivitis which needed immediate medical attention. The young English speaking member of staff present that Sunday (!) morning helped us to find and contact the hospital, then was despatched to drive us there in a hotel car and stayed with us at the request of the hospital staff until I had my medication. He then drove us back to the hotel. All this was done in a pleasant, unassuming way, but it was clearly beyond the call of duty and typical of the Japanese understanding of service.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back in the summer
