We stayed at Shibu Hotel Jan 27-31, 2020 and did not regret booking this hotel for our main purpose of going to the Snow Monkey Park. The hotel staff and owner were very welcoming and accommodating. Even thought they were not very proficient in speaking English they really went out of their way to communicate with us. We had a sumptious Traditional Japanese dinner on our third night and it was worth the extra expense, you have to order this in advance. They have tradional Japanse rooms, and ours came with a wonderful view.

Shibu Hotel went above and beyond my expectations! I currently live in Japan and wanted to see the Snow Monkey's. Through a travel agent, I booked my stay here at Shibu Hotel which is within walking distance from the park (they do offer shuttle though to and from). The staff was fantastic and they really made my wife and I feel at home, they were so friendly and accommodating. They offered to pick us up from the train station and at Monkey Park. The hotel has an onsen, which I did the private one with my wife, we loved it. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The rooms were traditional, comfortable, and very cozy. Fantastic views, complimentary tea, and much more. My wife and I just hung out in the room for hours at night just to relax and enjoy the simplicity. Our night came with dinner and breakfast. The dinner surprised me the most, I didn't know what to expect and the meal just blew me away. Plate after plate of delicious food. They had private areas for couples, it was so romantic, I felt like I was at a luxurious resort. The food was different then what I am used to, but it was all so good! The breakfast was an adventure as well. I could go on and on about how great our stay was here but I think I can convince anyone to stay here, I highly recommend staying here. I hope to come back next year and tack on extra day!

I stayed at Shibu hotel for 2 nights. I had a Japanese style room with breakfast and dinner.

I chose Shibu hotel as it is located in Shibu Onsen town which is very close the Snow Monkey park and also has 9 public Onsen for guests to get to with a master key. Each public Onsen was supposed to be good for a specific illness. Japanese gowns of different sizes are available in the room to be used to go to public Onsen in town.

The service of Shibu hotel went beyond my expectations. The Japanese style room was large and comfortable. The meals, especially dinner, had multi courses. Every course was beautifully presented and served.

The service was impeccable. What impressed me most were individually assignment space for shoes on shoe rack, name on private dining room, name tags on slippers when they were taken off to dinner, name on room door, name in lobby for all guests staying the night. Everything was so detailed.

Individual private dining room assigned for breakfast and dinner.

Free shuttle to the snow monkey park and to the train station at guest preferred time.

The hotel has its own public indoor hot spring and private outdoor hot spring. Free coffee is offered all day at the lobby (no coffee at Japanese breakfast).

I cannot say enough about Shibu hotel. The staff, the room, the food were outstanding. Thank you Shibu hotel.

Fantastic stay at a beautiful family run Ryokan. Exceptional hospitality and the most amazing dinner and breakfast. We wanted to experience an old onsen town and were very happy with our choice in Yudanaka. They also offer a free shuttle to the nearby snow monkey park which was wonderful. I would highly recommend this lovely town and particularly Shibu hotel. I think it was very good value for money for the stay which not only included dinner and breakfast but also free drinks in the minibar and in the lobby area.

This is the sixth time I have stayed here and it did not disappoint. The care demonstrated by Mr and Mrs Yamada left no need of the traveller unanswered. The rooms have recently been renovated and have very simple but very classy appointments. Beds are large and comfortable. Views of the stream are excellent. Yukata and geta allow for an authentic experience in the backstreets of onsen.
Japanese food in general rarely disappoints but I’ve never had a better kaiseki dinner or their breakfast. Courtesy shuttle to and from station and Monkey Park is icing on the cake. I cannot fault Shibu Hotel

The hotel was beautiful, well maintained and the staff helpful and very welcoming. The food was exceptional and the chef was able to accommodate my diet requests without a problem. The owners were present and available, english was spoken but not by all, the experience was unique. i would definitely return to visit.

This Hotel is just fantastic run by a family of 3 gener.
From the moment you arrive you are welcomed so fondly.
The traditional rooms are extremely spacious , very clean and with a lovely view.
The hotel onsens with indoor and outdoor bathing is wonderful especially the outdoor open onsen when the rain is falling surrounded in snow is magical.
A wonderful place to stay close to the village and snow fields. The traditional outdoor garden we were lucky to see with no snow and then covered in 2 feet of .snow .Close to the monkey park. The breakfast every morning was traditional and different every morning. Will definitely be back.

I cannot say enough good things about Shibu Hotel! First and foremost, we forgot an important item at the hotel and they had it messengered to our next hotel in Tokyo, arriving the following morning (which also happened to be the day we leaving Japan). The front desk / hotel staff was incredible as well as the restaurant staff. The traditional Japanese meals were fantastic (and very filling!). The onsens are great (and nicer than the public onsens, but they're also worth going to). If you're going to Yaganouchi, you need to stay here!

I recently stayed at Shibu Hotel in Yamanochi, Nagano, and it exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent, with a very helpful English-speaking staff. The complementary drinks in the room fridge and lobby were a nice touch. The rooms were clean and spacious, perfect for oversized luggages
The free shuttle to the snow monkey park and Yamaneda Train Station was convenient. Access to public onsens added to the overall experience. They also provide a Yukata that you can use. Just a tip: book in-house meals in advance to avoid missing out as they tend to fill up quickly. Overall a highly recommended stay.

Wonderful experience staying here. Akiyoshi and his family and staff made us feel very welcome. The room was lovely, and the private onsen excellent.
We are vegan, and the chef prepared fantastic meals for us. Our server (wish I could remember his name) was so friendly and helpful.
Highly recommended.
