Campground is just over the dunes from the beach. According to Bruce, the owner, most of the campers are returnees (80-85%, he said), so he knows most of the campers by name. Our site, (#48) was crammed between two other tent campers. No trees. No privacy. I'd guess the sites are about 25' x 25'. It took me a minute to figure out where to put up our tent because there was a low spot right in the middle that was wet. Quiet, no rowdy drunks at night. The wind off the ocean was so strong the night we were there it was hard to sleep, and the guys right behind us packed up and left before 5am. We were gone by 8am and it was difficult because of the strong winds. I don't know if the wind off the ocean is always this strong, but it would be worth looking into if you plan to stay any length of time.

If Mayberry was a campground at the beach This is where it would be. Everyone was super friendly, 25 yards to water. Bruce & family was very accommodating. Nice little camp store for all your last minute needs. Not used to tight sites like this, but understandable due to location. People from all over, tents, small & large campers, permanent sites & truck campers. Fishing, swimming, shelling, sightseeing, sun bathing, shopping, eatting, grilling, .....u can do it all from Mayberry at the Beach. Dump station cross street. Wooden beach crossover with sand rinse station. Water & electric good. Wifi in & out. Sunday services at 9:30am. Bathrooms & showers very clean, small, & aged..... But theres no where else like it. Max's pizza just 5 miles away- dont miss this food must have- we went twice it was soooo good. Come on down & camp at Mayberry by beach.

The campground is meant for small campers. It’s close proximity to the beach make it worth sacrificing space but be warned you are on top of each other. They have a tractor to put your trailer into the spot because backing up in some spaces is impossible. The only complaint we had are the dogs. They allow pets and several sites reported dogs relieving themselves on neighbors sites. Our site and our neighbors had to clean up twice for other campers dogs. Dogs were off leash most of the time. The signs say leashes are required but nonetheless we had to clean up for other animals on our site.

The campgrounds is in a great location right next to the beach with ramp access. The people were extremely friendly and even had live gospel music during our visit. Campground is also dog friendly as long as dogs are leashed.
