We stayed in a very comfortable clean 2 bed apartment which could be better with a make over, from checking in to checking out the staff were extremely friendly. The meals we had in the spacious restaurant were delicious, well presented, and good selection of wines and beers were on offer. Helpful map showing the local area with walks clearly marked available from reception. The views were exceptional from the trail we followed.

Stayed 1 night, drinks, dinner and breakfast. Ground floor studio room with patio looking on to grassed area and stream. Beautifully presented meals. Sandflies out being a hot summers day, but bug spray provided in room. Hotel was busy, with a bus load of holidaymakers, and road maintenance crew.

Accommodation in St Arnaud is rather limited and this is the best place. We stayed in a studio room which was pleasant, although the biggest issue is the bedroom is upstairs (narrow, steep stairs) and the bathroom/toilet is downstairs. A bit difficult to navigate during the night.

We stayed here three nights, ate all meals in the restaurant. Lunches and dinners were excellent, on a par and better than many city restaurants. I’m vegetarian and was particularly impressed with the care, interest and deliciousness for us, as well as carnivores. Hospitality was amazing, the kindness shown to one of our party who was sick, went way beyond the ordinary. It’s a beautiful setting, I thoroughly recommend.

We stopped in here for a one night stay whilst traveling the south island, ended up staying two nights, absolutely amazing staff, every single staff member was more than happy to help, smiley and chatty, rooms were perfect for us, and without booking in advance still managed to fit us in and make us more than welcome. Completely blown away by this wee gem.will most definitely be going back. Good job alpine lodge staff. We have really loved being here.
