Detailed Reviews
This Country House is situated in a superb location beside the Rhee River which flows along the edge of the garden. This purpose built property is flanked on all sides by superbly landscaped gardens with manicured lawns and shrub borders which retain colour and interest throughout the year. The house has been designed with great care and attention to detail by the owners who have professional experience in the hospitality business for almost 40 years having owned and run at least 4 hotels in Scotland. Given this background it is not surprising that one is impressed immediately you arrive in the grounds and step over the threshold and eventually into the public rooms and guest bedrooms. Everything from fittings to furniture to table settings to beds exudes 5 star quality. This is further extended by the delightfully cooked breakfasts, the variety of the menu and the quality of service by Patricia and Sam. One fails to find unique superlatives to describe this experience other than to say that it compares favourably, and especially the food and attention from the hosts, to any 5 star hotel in Ireland and in many respects better! The guest rooms have every facility imaginable including daily supplies of fresh water, wrapped sweets and biscuits. We had 4 lovely days exploring the magnificent North Coast in bright sunny weather just 10 miles away and the hosts deserve our thanks for making this stay so special.

Stayed here for 3 nights in July 2021. Excellent in all respects. Purpose built B&B with all mod cons, excellent stylish fixtures and fittings, lounge for use of guests with books, TV etc. Wonderful breakfast, with huge choices (as mentioned by other reviewers), taken in a lovely bright dining room. What really sets Crowfield apart however is the absolutely magical rural setting, with a flowing stream at the bottom of an imaginatively planted and wonderfully maintained garden, surrounded by fields of sheep and horses. All this coupled with amazing personal service by the owners: daily room cleaning with replacement of iced water etc (not the norm for most B&Bs); good advice for walks and day trips; restaurant recommendations and bookings; provision of maps and guide books.
A real home from home, worth every penny - who could ask for more?!

We stayed three nights but wished it could have been longer. Sam and Patricia were very attentive hosts. Our rooms was fitted out to a very high standard and everywhere was spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. We had a table and chairs on the patio just outside our room. We also enjoyed walking round the immaculately kept gardens by the river. There was a good choice at breakfast and the food was fresh and excellent. It is in easy reach of Londonderry and the Giant's Causeway.

Sometimes there is a bit of unsaid peer pressure to agree with everyone else’s reviews when all are giving the same score and it feels odd to go against the majority view. However, in this case everyone is spot on. We had a lovely 4 night stay. The hosts, Pat and Sam know how to look after their guests and are hugely knowledgable about the area and are so friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were excellent, a bit of cheesecake on a Sunday breakfast was ace. Rooms are large, well furnished, immaculately clean with easy to operate showers, enough bathroom shelf space to lay out stuff and a firm mattress. ( soft mattresses, complicated showers and a lack of shelf space are bug bears of ours). Nice lounge to sit in. The gardens around the property are fantastic and the views over the surrounding fields feed into the relaxing feel of the place. It’s in a good central location to visit the North Coast, Londonderry, Ulster American Folk Park etc.
If we return this way we would most certainly stay here again.

There is only one way to describe the hosts and their home, Fantastic. Both Pat and Sam are wonderful. From the time you arrive until they say farewell at the door they are the epitome of what you would wish a host to be.
The breakfasts are undoubtably the best we've experienced and their garden is an oasis of calm and tranquillity.
A very big thanks to them both for a wonderful, relaxed and comfortable stay at what felt like home from home.

We had a wonderful time here. The attention to detail by Sam and Pat was fantastic. Nothing was too much for them and they are great hosts! The beds were firm and extremely comfortable and the breakfasts were superb - fresh fruit, cereals, breads etc and a mega choice of cooked, all utterly fantastic and so tasty and filling. We cannot speak highly enough of Crowfield House and positioned nicely for visiting places like Giant’s Causeway, Portrush etc.

The owners of this B&B have many years' experience in hospitality have very high standards.
The house is immaculate, and quiet, and the breakfast excellent.
Convenient for exploring North Coast. Keep in mind that countryside location means that there are few restaurants near-by.
Deserving of 5 star review.

From beginning to end Pat & Sam provide a friendly, relaxed, wonderful experience. Their house & gardens are beautiful, the stream out back is beautiful, the patio is very welcoming. We were greeted with afternoon tea on the patio- yummy. Watched the birds & the cow field beyond. They suggested a great restaurant for dinner. Our room was well appointed & comfortable. Our view was of the stream & field. Breakfast was phenomenal with a menu- fixed up for each couple staying there (3 rooms). Home made everything… I would go there again in a heart beat!🥰

Really, how do you provide a review about a "home away home"? The graciousness and elegance of Sam and Pat's hospitality is second to none. Together, they have thought of every detail to make your visit as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
We arrived after an almost 24 hour plane trip and drive to a home that welcomed us with tea, sandwiches and kindness.
The Crowfield is the perfect distance to most of the recommended tourist sites, Giant's Causeway, Derry, and the Antrim Coast. With Pat and Sam's advice, we were able to visit each place with a more local point of view. Their insight provided a unique way to see each area.
The rooms are individually planned with luxury and care. The Crowfield grounds are amazing, with peace and quiet at every turn. The breakfasts were unbelievable, with a variety of buffet and menu items each morning. The mere fact that you had homemade rhubarb/ginger jam and homebaked breads is reason enough to be a part of the Crowfield experience.
We continue to miss Pat and Sam's laughter and company. We can never thank them enough for giving us an incredible start to our trip.

+1
We wish our two night stay at Crowfield House was longer! The house and grounds were simply beautiful. The property is exceptionally clean, comfortable, and relaxing. Sam and Patricia were wonderful hosts, preparing an amazing breakfast in the morning and wonderful conversation during our stay. The bed was extremely comfortable. The property is located in a very quiet area surrounded by farms, so a rental car is a good idea. Giant's causeway, the Antrim coast, and Bushmills are nearby attractions. However, given that Google maps in Ireland doesn't differentiate very well between different road grades (A/B/named roads), we did get valuable advice from Sam and Patricia on which roads were an easier drive even if just a few minute longer. When we return, we will definitely plan in more "down time" days to fully enjoy the property as well as sightseeing.

Hi Noreen.
Gluten free is not a problem as long as you mention it when booking.
I am not Celiac, but I am intolerant of wheat products, so I mostly eat Gluten free too.
