This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Lucknam Park Hotel garners high praise for its impeccable cleanliness and luxurious amenities, including a well-regarded but costly spa set among beautifully manicured grounds. Guests enjoy the rooms' comfort and charm despite occasional critiques of them being dated or snug. While the service is generally celebrated for being attentive and professional, there are intermittent reports of sluggishness.
Opinions on value are mixed, as some visitors feel that the cost doesn't always align with the experience. The hotel's atmosphere is noted for its elegance, although a few areas are suggested to need updating.

Detailed Reviews
At first we found the hotel a little soulless. There's no bar, just a library and a sitting room where one can order drinks. We weren't allowed into the sitting room on the first night, and we couldn't eat in the dining room for the first two nights (of three), and breakfast was over in the Spa brasserie for the first morning, so it was all a bit 'can't do this, can't do that' which we found irritating.
And our room was cold to start with - but this was rectified quickly and they gave us complimentary drinks to make up for it.
However, the staff were very nice (particularly Steve in the Brasserie) and once we settled in to the rhythm of the place, we found it very relaxing. I suppose that's what you go to a spa hotel for! The grounds are SUPERB and the gardens round the house manicured within an inch of their lives - fascinating to see formal gardens so beautifully kept in winter, one really sees the architecture of the planting well.
When it came to check out, we were puzzled at various services charges which had been added for drinks and meals. When we signed the receipts, the service charge had been added already. They quickly took these off without any fuss. However, we are a bit obsessed about this as we hate paying service charge twice!

Dear MIssDillie Thank you so much for staying with us and for taking time to write about your experience. I am very pleased to read you had an overall very good stay. I am terribly sorry your room was cold to start with but I am happy it was addressed immediately. Service charge is discretionary and is added to all Food and Beverage items consumed. Let me know directly when you are planning to visit next and I will be delighted to take personal care of your arrangements. Kind regards Sakis

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. For me, it surpasses all expectations of what a relaxing hotel spa break should be!
The hotel is a beautifully kept in stunning grounds with well decorated rooms that are classic in style but with all the creature comforts. The beds are comfortable and at night, the area is so peaceful and tranquil, you cannot fail to have a good night’s sleep!
The spa is just heaven on earth. I had a full body massage which was one of the best I’ve ever had. The pool area is great and the indoor/outdoor spa pool is somewhere I could stay all day!
We ate at the brasserie as the main hotel restaurant was closed, but the food did not disappoint, and the service at the restaurant (as it is throughout the rest of the hotel), first class.
We also had the full afternoon tea during our day which was totally indulgent and delicious! The grounds are perfect for a country walk to burn off some cream cake calories and if you’ve forgotten your wellies, the hotel offers ones that you can borrow.
The sculptures dotted around the grounds are well worth a look.
We cannot wait to come back! This is my happy place!

My husband and I just finished an amazing stay at Lucknam Park. Everything from the moment we were welcomed through the door to our last breakfast was incredible: the grounds and buildings are beautiful and expertly maintained, the food is tasty (especially breakfast), our room was gorgeous, and the staff are friendly and down to earth. Shane at the front desk really stood out as being particularly welcoming, kind and helpful.
We opted to stay in a suite, which was very expensive but worth the treat for our honeymoon. Our room had a wood burning fireplace that was stocked every day with fresh wood and kindling that made it very easy to use. The view of the grounds was gorgeous. Rooms are decorated in an antique style, which appropriately fits the feeling of the manor house.
We ordered room service several times (I'd recommend tea and biscuits before bed!), and our orders always arrived promptly. We visited the Brasserie several times for dinner and felt that a few of the dishes could have used more seasoning, but overall enjoyed our experience. The pool was gorgeous and very nicely maintained - it was a treat to swim in the warm indoor/outdoor pool after a day out. We also loved taking the bikes out for a couple rides around the grounds. In terms of Covid safety, we truly appreciated that all staff wore masks (not the case in the other places we stayed in the UK).
The only downside is the cost - we ended up spending about $2000 US/day all in on the room and food given where the exchange rate is at the moment - but we'll definitely plan to come back again some time in the future.

Sadly our experience was not up to the value that type of hotel should offer, particularly at the rate for room and breakfast of £750.00 per night, a not inconsiderable amount for the offering. For a start, our room was dated and failed to inspire with stained upholstery, no waste basket in the room and no tissues!
The bathroom too was short of soaps etc and yes one might ask for these and indeed they were delivered, but to have to ask in what thinks of itself as a five star hotel........so wrong. We understand about COVID but other hotels manage to deal with this in a better manner.
Imagine being told upon check in for our three day break that the room shall only be serviced once during our stay! We therefore had to make our own bed....... We managed to obtain clean towels delivered outside our room. Sadly the allegedly heated towel rail failed to work despite me reporting it, thus towels remained damp.
We received the feeling that COVID was being used to diminish services and reduce customer value with absolutely no reduction in cost to their clientele.
A saving grace was the food service in the Brasserie was excellent as were the staff, breakfast too was a good experience. Sadly the Michelin starred restaurant was closed, thus we could not comment upon this.
All in all an experience that I shall not care to repeat.

This was a lovely and relaxing week away. Lucknam park is situated at the end of a long drive and is an impressive building set in a sizeable park, the walks are lovely and the statue filled gardens beautifully kept.
The reception desk team was warm and efficient ( Daisy was excellent on our arrival setting a good tone) The concierge Neil could not have done more and was very helpful throughout our stay.
The fine dining restaurant of Hywel Jones was impressive but sadly only open 3 days a week, the food at the Brasserie on our first visit in the evening was frankly disappointing, but much improved when we had lunch. Breakfast at the fine dining restaurant was invariably good although I wished the staff had cleared the used crockery and cutlery away quicker. ( possibly Covid19 related also great to see all the staff wearing masks)
The Spa team was excellent Alex, Lauren, Jade and Hannah must be mentioned. The swimming and Hydrotherapy pools were immaculately clean and social distancing just right. The room was comfortable and the bathroom beautiful, one issue was it lacked a decent magnifying mirror.
All said and done we had a lovely stay. Considering these are challenging times the staff and management of the hotel are doing a great job. We will return hopefully soon.

Dear RGB216BC, On behalf of the Lucknam team, thank you for taking the time to leave a positive and constructive review. We strive to provide excellent service, so it is pleasing to read that your personal contact with members of Lucknam team was excellent during your stay. Your comments and feedback will be communicated to the appropriate team members. We are delighted that you had an impressive experience in Restaurant Hywel Jones. We note, however, that you were a little disappointed that opening times for Restaurant Hywel Jones are currently reduced due to government guidelines. We are continuously reviewing our procedures and hope to increase the availability to the Restaurant in the future when guidelines allow so that our guests have the opportunity to enjoy an extended ultimate dining experience during their stay. We are sorry that your first dining experience in the Brasserie was disappointing but we are pleased that It improved during your stay. We will communicate your feed back to the Brasserie. Thank you for your complimentary comments regrading the Spa team and your overall experience during your time in the Spa. We have noted your comments regarding a magnifying mirror and will look into the possibility of providing a suitable mirror. We are pleased that overall you had a relaxing and enjoyable stay with us and hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back to Lucknam Park in the near future. Best regards, Silmiya

Stayed here for a three night break so my husband could do some clay shooting and I could chill out. Lovely relaxed check in. Room was very comfortable (manor room) with a wonderful view over the courtyard and was everything we could have wanted.
Pros -
The most helpful, friendly and professional staff I think I have ever come across in the UK, especially Daisy and the guy who was always around in the daytime if we needed anything. Both went way beyond to make us feel welcome.
The grounds were absolutely wonderful. We did walk round a few times but even to sit in the lounge and look out over them was a joy.
Breakfast was perfectly cooked and superb quality using local ingredients. Would come back just for this!
Dinner in the Hywel Jones restaurant. This was a gastronomic experience that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Cons -
The food in the Brasserie was nothing special and we were disappointed both nights we ate there.
The various sofas were ALL sagging, uneven, had broken springs and were lumpy! Whilst I appreciate this adds character surely it’s not necessary for them all to be like this? Even in the rooms? Watching people trying to get out of them became a spectator sport!
In a nutshell, definitely well worth a visit for a bit of luxury and pampering but at a price.

After walking around the beautiful grounds I wanted a coffee while I waited for friends. I was taken into the drawing room by a very friendly member of the reception staff who asked what sort of coffee I’d like ( no drinks menu was offered).
Some time later a cappuccino and shortbread biscuit were brought to me by another member of staff who very curtly told me to pay at reception and walked away with the bill on her tray.
Upon leaving, I was shocked to be charged £7.59 for one cappuccino. Yes, it was good and drunk in lovely surroundings but is the most expensive coffee I have ever drunk!
Maybe the shortbread biscuit wasn’t complementary?

After a 3 night stay we decided to check out early . We arrived to a suite missing a telephone which made it hard to contact guest services / room service which might seem minor but for a 5* hotel claiming luxury this is unacceptable. The rooms are in need of some tlc and they are missing those luxury extras that you expect and find at Beaverbrook, coworth, Heckfield and Gleneagles etc. Breakfast is basic and left us a little disappointed. We moved to a cottage which has a lovely interior and we cannot fault the amenities but when we called for room service breakfast we were told the chef could only do sandwiches which again I find unacceptable for the standard they are promoting themselves at. The good points are the spa facilities are good. The grounds are beautiful and vast but overall we have been disappointed with the standard the hotel is being run at and wouldn’t return.

Well we had a good dinner at Lucknam but not a wow meal given the bill for two with just a glass of wine each, came to £300, yes £300. I don't mind paying but I did expect something exceptional and it wasnt. We were only offered three tasting menus each at £110 of if we would like but not recommended to take a three-course version for £87. So we took the Signature tasting course.
Service was good if you don't mind being served by servers wearing short face guards not masks and we weren't.
However, after parking trying to find your way into the hotel in the dark is precarious and walking back for women in high heeled shoes on gravel is not easy, so my wife told me.
So frankly after many years since I last went there, I am left underwhelmed given the reputation but not least that cost. They have benefited from the VAT reduction from 20 to 5% and they still pass on a 12.5 % service charge which they claim is shared to all staff.
So I am sorry to say I will not be returning to Lucknam as there are other places I know who produce exemplary food for the money.

Dear Rogerjleek, On behalf of the Lucknam team thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback. We can confirm that during these unprecedented times, in line with UK government guidelines, our commitment to guests and staff resulted in policies amended as required. Therefore, unfortunately during your visit, valet car parking was not possible because it was viewed as an extension of a guest’s personal space. We would, however upon request, have escorted you to and from the car park with appropriate lighting. We apologise if you weren’t aware of this service in-advance. We are sorry to hear that the Restaurant experience didn’t meet with your expectations. We understand that face guards and masks can distract from the ultimate dining experience but we are obligated to adhere to the guidelines. In reference to your feedback regarding your dining bill we will communicate your comments to the appropriate department. We understand that you do not wish to return to Lucknam Park however would like to thank you for your feedback. Best regards, Silmiya

The house and grounds are simply stunning. Surrounded by hundreds of acres, which you can ramble, or ride.
The service was constantly excellent across the weekend, as it always is. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are always helpful but unobtrusive.
The spa is stunning, extremely well laid out and the indoor-outdoor pool is lovely for serious swimmers and splashers about alike. The food in the spa is excellent and reasonable. The food in the restaurant is pricey but excellent. You get what you pay for and although Lucknam Park is expensive, we always feel pampered and refreshed after every visit.
