We spent two nights at the Acquamarina Hotel in Donnalucata, Sicily, and would have gladly spent more time there. It has lovely rooms with views, its own beach, and a very attentive staff who gave us a choice of rooms which I really appreciated. Best of all, it was close to Punta Secca where they filmed Inspector Montalbano and we got to see the famous balcony where he would have his espresso and gaze out at the water. We were in Donnalucata with our tandem bike and the hotel took very good care of that also.

I was looking for a hotel to escape from the daily routine for a few days and relax by the sea in a quiet place because I was alone. I found this property which immediately struck me with the excellent reviews it deserved.
I was welcomed, advised and pampered above all by Alessia the girl at the reception who on the last day recommended a visit to Scicli and organized everything for me in a very short time. Very kind and very professional. Congratulations.
The property is beautiful, clean, comfortable bed and pillows and scented sheets.
Breakfast served on the terrace overlooking the sea with local products and very kind staff.
Since it was early May, the structure was partially open, but despite everything they brought me a deckchair in the garden/solarium with the beautiful sandy beach next to it and changed my room to a full sea view with a balcony.
The restaurant right below the hotel is very convenient, with honest prices and excellent food, run by a very professional and kind family.
The only flaw is the connection from the airport (Comiso 40 minutes away) because it is necessarily necessary, given the very little public transport, to take a taxi (I recommend Mr Carmine ask the hotel for the contact details).
I therefore recommend getting a rental car.

In the kingdom of blue
Welcome to the Acquamarina Donnalucata hotel, kingdom of sun, sea and quiet. My wife and I are looking for a site of absolute relaxation, which we have found here thanks also to qualified staff capable of offering you a delicious and refreshing holiday. At the head of those who work to ensure comfort, good food, excellent breakfasts, there is Mrs Samanta, born in Turin, Ragusan at heart, having relatives in our area. The dynamic manager thus divides her time between Piedmont and Sicily, living a "dual identity" consisting of feeling half Italian-French Turìn and half Sicilian in love with baroque pearls and white Iblean stone. Everything else is not boredom as Franco Califano sang but the joy of dedicating oneself to the tourists, many of whom, enthusiastic, return to Acquamarina to enjoy a nature that is at times harsh and sweetly wild, almost not at all contaminated by a sea, the Mediterranean, always clear and inviting. Samanta (vacationers can notice this) is in love with her role as a rampant entrepreneur and always has a smile, a kind word, a commendable attention for those who come to or return to Acquamarina. The undersigned was also satisfied, giving a high rating for both the welcome and the stay. Clean rooms with white lacquered furniture, shiny services, welcoming solariums, in addition to a large pizzeria and a refined restaurant attached to the hotel but with independent management. In short, you will have a great time here. Seeing is believing. Welcome to Acquamarina.

A priority that as soon as you enter welcomes you telling you what you can do and when you can do it but does not tell you other much more important things
Leaving the tiny rooms alone under the measures provided by laws and regulations that I believe in Sicily are the same everywhere
Imagine that my wife's suitcase had to lie on the ground next to the bed with no possibility of getting out of bed easily during the night
Poor breakfasts and perhaps a very generous term
Cakes and pies cut into 3x3 cm squares so ashamed to get more
Drinks none available to the customer only still and sparkling water
Drinks asked for in a sort of counter were given to you by a girl in a small 100cc glass so much so that you asked her several times
One morning when we received blood orange juice we realized that it was a bit sour informed the girl is told that maybe in the evening he had stayed out of the fridge and with that heat could happen
I wonder if the stuff from the day before isn't thrown away?
No they added to the one already passed
It sucks.
Super invisible croissants both medium and large
Coffee made with pods that you bought after breakfast time you paid 1.50
Last the bathroom fan that did not work well in fact one morning in claiming that the priority did not work informed us that it activated at certain times of the day
Excuse me what does it mean my wife replied that we have to go to the bathroom when it says the time of your fan or when we need it?
Maybe it's better to restructure everything because it's very decadent including the employees

Well located hotel right by the beautiful beach. The hotel staff are amazing, the decor in the common areas is stylish and in lovely condition. The bedroom we had needed some upgrades, eg a coffee maker in room,
better tv (rather than a PC screen. The breakfast however is a real disappointment - a very meagre selection (not even a toaster!), only hard eggs available and mainly Italian cakes. We would point out though that the staff in the breakfast area are lively, obliging and extremely pleasant.

I trusted on the positive review about this hotel so I decided to stay for a few night... The room was incredibly small with ridicoulus "windows"that I almost had a claustrophobic attack.....
bathroom was not Very clean and unbelievable small(never seen some things like this before)
had paper thin walls so we hearing every word being said(and any other kind of noise.)
Very poor and BASIC continental breakfast
Most disappointing hotel ever!
Definitely not a 4 star hotel (seriously,4 star? 150 euro?)
I advise all to stay away from this hotel.

Dear imaginary guest, we are pleased to inform you that we are not going to take absolutely into account your false review, starting from the information about your origin and the rate that you (didn't) pay. No foreign customers stayed at Acquamarina Hotel in August (and we can prove it), especially from the 05th Aug, when the High Season starts and the double room rate is € 150,00. A traveler who boasts of knowing the requirements of a 4 star hotel should have a considerable number of reviews on Tripadvisor and we don't see it. Have a nice day!

We have just spent 7 days at the Acquamarina, and had an enjoyable stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and the location of the hotel could hardly be better, there is good off road parking, and lots of terrace space overlooking the sea, the roof terrace, where one has breakfast or an evening drink is very fine.
The breakfast selection was very good, especially if you like cake, and the coffee was excellent.
In the direction of Donnalucata, which is 5 minutes away, there is an area of sun loungers and from there, it is a few paces to a very slowly sloping beach of the finest sand.
What could be better, not alot, the internet is one area which could be improved, and the restaurant, which serves reasonable food, could be better, if they split the rather large room into sections, it would give a bit more atmosphere, especially when the place is nearly empty, the evening we ate there, the staff seemed uninterested.
I would highly recommend this hotel, and there are plenty of ok restaurants nearby, go to Scicli and try the Osteria at the end of the big square, first floor with an outdoor terrace and marvelous food.
Finally, have an Aperol at the roof top terrace at Acquamarina and watch the sun go down, memorable.

Answer from Hotel_Acquamarina
Cordialmente Paola
