The most friendly people we have met in Sicily. Very helpful and open for all our requests.
What was important we could communicate in english what is not so obviouse in this part of Sicily.
Very good location - not in a noisy center but also not far away from sandy beach ( 2 min. walk)- with swimming pool. We stayed there full week and got everything we we expected and asked for. Good place to stay if you have a car and want to see all the important sightseeings around.
Alessia - you do a great thing for this place!!! Thanks once more for all your help.
I fully recomend this spot!!!!

Waldemar.

We stayed at the hotel during low season i june, but the rooms and the pool area were very nice and we had a great stay for two days. Almost no traffic at all outside of the hotel was a big bonus too.

If it is an authentic Italian Sicilian experience that you are looking for then this is the place for you! An establishment run by such a friendly and welcoming family. Recommendations of where to eat were absolutely faultless, the best food that I have ever eaten! All in all, a special place full of special people that we can now call our friends....we can't wait to go back!!

Friendly, quiet, close to the sea: the perfect place to start your holiday! Ask the owners suggestions for places to eat, they can tell you nice typic places in the countryside as well. Apartments are simple, good for families, and all of them have an open space to enjoy the evenings during summer.
Ciao Alessia,

We were the guests in this Magic spot in an area still unspoiled by mass tourism on the south coast of Sicily. We arrived to a very warm welcome and everyone was extremely friendly. For the full week we were very much at home and felt that the host Alessia and her family were so pleasant, warm and wonderful. I can't wait to see them again. Every morning we sat down to a nice cappuccino and cream croissant and soaked in the lovely family surroundings with great character, beautiful gardens, pool area and sitting area. The hotel is only a few hundred meters from quite beaches and close to a local shop and very tasty ice cream store-blue moon, only short journey away was tourist attractions to visit such as Scicli, Ragusa ibla, Ragusa marina and Modica. Definitely recommend this beautiful place,we will never forget the experience and the loving warm family. Thanks so Much for the Wonderful Stay, BE BACK SOON :) Deirdre and Arthur.

Such a nice place to stay, all wrapped up in the fact that this small town is really a charming delight, so relaxing and so very Italian.
Rooms: the room we had was more like a little downstairs studio apartment with three beds. Spacious but basic. You have to look after yourself, down to buying a lighter for the small gas hob, as well as sugar and salt (if you need it). Fittings a little run down but everything very clean. And somehow this didn't matter and sort of fitted the sea-salty vibe of the whole place. We did choose the least expensive room on the ground floor (we think) which was not air conditioned. But this didn't really matter as the ground floor was relatively cool and the rotating fan is just perfect. Not much privacy as there was a family opposite who, in true Italian style, sat outside every night. Our little terrace was directly opposite theirs. No view to speak of. But our neighbours were super -friendly and we had lovely chats with them and helped their kids feed the stray cats that appear every now and then. If you were planning to stay in the room (we spent most days at the beach), I would definitely consider spending a bit more to take a room on an upper floor. This one can get a bit cave-like. But for the price, everything completely serviceable.
Wifi worked great all over the grounds.
The people: So lovely, so helpful.
The pool area: Really nice and very comfortable. Never crowded as mostly folks are down at the beach.
Location: This is great. It is up the hill, a little way away from the beach and the busy nightlife (and when I say busy, I mean Italian families promenading up and down the boardwalk or having dinner or icecream...there's a sort of teenage disco area and an outdoor cinema (only in Italian) but that's pretty much it) so really nice and quiet. It's about an 8-10 minute walk away from where the bus from Catania comes in. If you're just staying in Donnalucata, you don't need a car.
All in all, such a lovely stay. I would recommend it although I think next time we'll not be so tight and try and get a room/place with a bit more outdoor space and privacy.

This is a wonderful place to stay!
We had such a lovely time in Solemare, the rooms are really comfortable clean and peaceful, with a sea view. The beautiful pool and the little bar make it such a great place to relax and spend time. We chilled, played cards and swam. It's really near the town and a beautiful beach but in a quiet spot.

Alessia and her family though are what make this a great place to stay. Such a friendly welcome. We felt so at home, Alessia was so helpful, and interested in us experiencing this beautiful part of Sicily. She gave us great places to eat, was always on hand and made our stay a delight.
This is a place you will come back to.

I have traveled around the world and always say I must write a review on this hotel or that apartment but I have never bothered...this is my first review because I had the best trip ever at Solemare and I had to tell everyone!

From before we even arrived, Alessia went above and beyond for my Mum and I. She helped us to book a shuttle bus from Comiso airport to the hotel which I would not have found without her. Upon arrival we were shown to our lovely little clean studio apartment no 16 with sea view. It had all we needed - including a kitchen.

Every morning we went downstairs for a coffee where every member of Alessia's family were BEYOND friendly and helpful...bringing us little treats to eat with our drinks constantly and asking if we needed to know anything about the area. The pool in the complex is lovely, clean and serene with comfy sun loungers and brollies. It is a lovely 10 min walk to the shop restaurants or beach. Donnalucata has a beautiful low key local feel with relaxed bars and restaurants...if you're looking for a relaxing holiday-it is the way to go!

As if Alessia hadn't spoiled us enough, her little sister offered to take my mother and I on a tour one evening of the local city Scicli as we had no car and the family didn't want us not to miss out. She took us for 2 hours walking this beautiful place and telling us the history - we even tried the local delicacy-arancini balls after her recommendation! Yum! She then drove us home - all of this as a lovely gesture (I.e. at no charge!). We were amazed and insisted offering her something in return!

In addition to all of this, the family asked us TWICE to join them for lunch where we feasted with them on the freshest fish caught that morning, local cheese and bread, the most yummy pasta dishes and fab wine and prosecco! Again all as a lovely generous gesture with no expectation of us paying for our share - they would not accept any money from us!

Finally then, Alessia let us stay in our apartment till the evening on our last day so we could relax before our late flight - no 10am strict check out time which we greatly appreciated! She then also booked our shuttle for us and even dropped us to the bus shop in her own car!

My Mum and I are still talking about the magical time we had in Solemare Residence! Our trip would not have been anywhere near as magical, relaxing and authentically Sicilian without Alessia and her family!

GO GO GO :-)

This aparthotel is well located, sun-kissed, placed so as to have a fantastic view.
Solemare ìs really beautiful, comfortable and relaxing.
Breakfast is also good. Knowing our habits Anglo-Saxon, the staff made us find some good sandwiches and we also tasted the typical brioche and granita with toasted almonds ... Delight! Staff friendly, helpful. and with good English. Nothing better!
