We stayed for 2 nights and Nicholas was a perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble he was so welcoming you were made to feel at home. Nicholas booked us a local restaurant Soldat Labourer on the first night which was nice and definitely worth a visit if your in the area and he cooked us a lovely meal on the second , delicious food he was very attentive. We celebrated our 40th Anniversary and as a surprise he baked a beautiful cake which he presented after our meal and even put champagne and strawberries in our the room on arrival.
We stayed in the Swan Suit which was lovely and secluded with its own hot tub, it was just a shame the weather wasn’t kind as we only got to use it in between down pours.
The house was beautiful, decorated in an art deco style throughout and I would have been more than happy to stay in any of them.
I highly recommend visiting Mason du Plumes as a tranquil hideaway, but more to experience Nicolas’s hospitality that was outstanding.
We will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed one week in the Maison de Plumes and had a superb time in this extraordinary guest house. Nicolas is the best and most caring host we ever had. It starts with the warm welcome, good advices for restaurants or one day trips in the surrounding and doesn't end with a fabulous breakfast with homemade yoghurt, bread, marmelade etc. or a 3-course dinner with regional dishes in the evening or a nice talk inbetween. We loved the extraordinary interior, the beautyful garden with Jakuzzi, Celestine and Antoinette ;-) or talking to the interesting other guests at breakfast and dinner. So we were really sad to leave, as we felt now leaving a friend. The location is perfect for one-day trips, as you quite quickly reach either the coast or for examaple Lille, which is a very lively and beautiful town. Thank you so much Nicolas.

Maison de Plumes is such a fantastic house with the art deco furnishings, music playing, flowers and candles, a unique experience. We enjoyed our third visit even more as it feels like coming home. Nicholas is such a warm and welcoming host - nothing is too much trouble.
We stayed in the Swan Suite which is spacious, beautifully decorated and private with your own garden and jacuzzi. The main house is fabulous with the amazing art deco inspired decoration, a charming large garden and a comfortable terrace. Nicholas cooked a special meal for me as I have health problems and a different one for Michael according to his tastes, both were delicious. Breakfast is also worth lingering over with fresh local produce.
We find the location so convenient for Calais as it just an hour away. Set in pretty countryside, it makes a perfect stop over on your way back to the UK or to stay longer on an easy French excursion.
We are already looking forward to next year's visit.

We stayed one night at Maison Des Plumes on the last night of our holiday and picked this guest house because it was close to Calais and the reviews we had seen said that Nicolas was a great host and cook, and they weren’t wrong!! I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere with such an accommodating host! As soon as we arrived, Nicolas was keen to show us around the guest house and make sure we had everything we needed, arranged some drinks with some delicious homemade snacks, cooked us a fantastic three course meal and arranged a huge breakfast the following day too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and thought it would be a great venue for a private celebration too, which Nicolas said he would be able to accommodate having done a few in the past. A lovely end to our trip.

Nicholas greeted us so warmly, it was like visiting an old friend. We stayed in the Swan which is a fabulously opulent large suite. The pictures cannot convey the experience of realising that this amazing room was ours for the night. It is very private with its own garden and jacuzzi. The whole house is extremely elegant, furnished in 1920's style and even the music is of the period. It was a cool night so we ate inside but that was so atmospheric that we could imagine being at a 1920's house party. Nicholas cooked us a superb three course meal, starting with homemade pate, followed by creamy chicken and finishing with creme brulee and home grown raspberries. Michael also had a generous plate of local cheeses. The breakfast was also delicious with fresh croissants and bread from the local bakery, eggs from their chickens and local jams and preserves. We love this house so much that we have already booked for next year. It is truly a unique experience, incredibly good value for money and well worth a detour to stay there(although if you are on your way to Calais it is very convenient). The area is very pretty so a few days could easily be spent exploring.

This stunning property is in a pretty village, set in lovely countryside, very convenient for the motorway and Calais(1hr). We were in the Swan suite with its own garden and jacuzzi, with amazing decoration, even the wall sparkled, so WOW and unique that it took your breath away. The suite is very spacious with a huge bed, a desk, sofa and TV and smart shower room as well as an elegant bath. Everything was of the highest quality with loads of attention to detail- fresh flowers, bottles of water and a selection of teas and coffee for example.
We loved the jacuzzi (complete with colourful lights) and the garden was equipped with loungers and a table and chairs where you could have your meal if you felt like being private. We opted for a table overlooking the main garden which was very pretty with chairs scattered around, inviting you to sit and enjoy a good book in the peaceful setting. We ate a delicious meal which was modified according to what we wanted or needed to eat.
Nicholas greeted us with a warm welcome and looked after us superbly. The breakfast was also excellent, due to inclement weather served in the elegant dining room which gave us a chance to appreciate how beautifully decorated the whole house is. We felt more like we were staying with good friends than in a formal hotel environment. The hotel is also incredibly good value for money especially considering the standard of suite and the delicious locally sourced food. We would like to go back soon; it was all so fabulous that we would consider a special trip just to have the opportunity of staying there again.

What a great find. An authentic property restored in Art Deco style with the best possible taste. The host could not have been more accommodating and spoke perfect English . We wondered about dining because there is no prior knowledge of the menu but it was the best food of our 10 day trip to France - perfect quality and quantity , and even the families fussy eaters left nothing! Highly recommended as a stop off as you exit UK or as you return for east access (<1hr) to the Eurotunnel. Our next visit will be for longer.

This beautifully restored house is only surpassed by the charm and professionalism of its host. Nicolas is delightful - and a wonderful cook! Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the Swan Suite because of mobility problems but the inside rooms are fantastic. Meals can be served in the suite, the dining room or on the terrace. There is plenty to explore in this often overlooked area of Northern France. Do go.

A lucky find - the handsome exterior of the building doesn't fully prepare you for the amazing interior decor, done with style, wit and panache. On top of that the welcome was warm and genuine, the atmosphere very relaxed and the furnishing comfortable as well as very stylish. Our Sunday evening three course home-cooked meal was superb as well. A great place to start or finish a French holiday, only 1 hour from Eurotunnel Calais.

Nicholas and the sheer ambience he and the house created made our stay special . The rooms are far larger and well appointed than the photos even suggest. The shower and bathrooms matched the elegance of the bedrooms .
It was a beautiful evening to eat outside with lovely views of the garden and countryside . Wonderful three course dinner and setting . Breakfast equally a wow . We would stay again for longer as the area has more to offer than we had appreciated including way marked cycling routes , markets in St Omer and Le Touquet .
