We had a lovely stay with Anthea and Brian. Well taken care and hospitable. It is a great location with beautiful views of the bay below. The breakfast was delicious with different options each day. They sent us a few messages prior to our arrival, a holiday greeting, to advise on activities to do with a discount offered, and they let us know about signing up for NZeTA which was helpful as we needed this prior to leaving.

During our six-week tour , Billbird Lodge was by far the best B&B accomodation. The impreesive location with a stunning view of the Bay, the high quality and tasteful furnishings and above all the gracios hosts Anthea and Brian made the whole experience an impressive one. Luckily we had booked four nights and were so able to enjoy an incredibly delecious breakfast several times. The homemade hot and cold dishes were exquisite and extremely tasty. Interessting dicussions, excellent tourist recommandations, loving care with various delicacies, gave the impression of being among good friends. Should we visite New Zealand again, Bellbird Lodge will definitely be an important part of the trip. Anthea and Brian, thank you again very much! Heidi & Ralf, Monheim/ Germany

I only wish we could give 6 stars for this place. It was truly the best B&B experience we've ever had. The room and grounds were exquisite and the views stunning. Brian and Anthea were beyond welcoming. We loved the afternoon wine tasting and they went above and beyond with their amazing breakfasts. No detail was spared for our entire stay. They even provided excellent restaurant recommendations and assisted in getting a boat tour of Abel Tasman NP. We only wish we could have stayed longer - thank you again, Brian and Anthea!!

We had a 2 night stay at the Bellbird and stayed in the room at the back which was very clean and comfortable. The room was very small but this was offset by a kitchen/sitting room which again was very small but had its own access from the drive. It was very well equipped with little treats of chocs, biscuits and fruit from the garden. From the bedroom their was no view but we could see a small table with 2 chairs which we would have liked to use but the only access was from outside and round the back of the garage. An improvement would have been to be able to get access outside from the bedroom. Anthea and Brian are very passionate about the quality of hospitality that they give to their guests and they really do go the extra mile to please! The food Anthea produces was of a very high class with lots of juices, fresh fruit and stewed fruits and cereals etc. and there is a different hot dish every day of which there is no other choice. On the second morning blueberry pancakes were served with delicious whipped cream which was very rich and may not be to everyones choice. My husband is strictly a bacon and eggs man for breakfast so this threw his routine a bit. Anthea and Brian are very knowledgeable on the local area and tours that are available. They interact in the conversation at breakfast time and joined us and the one other guest at the table whilst we were eating breakfast. Every evening at 6pm Brian and Anthea serve homemade canapés and a section of wines are available to sample. Whilst this is a lovely gesture we felt that there was an expectation that we would attend rather than be given the choice. Bellbird Lodge is situated on a windy climbing road and parking at the lodge is difficult as there is a requirement to reverse out of the drive which is very narrow and difficult to navigate. The only negative is that there is only one main restaurant on the sea front called Kai. It was a Saturday evening and we tried to get a table at 7.30 but it was absolutely heaving with also a long queue from the take-away section. We returned at 8.15 to be told chef had decided not to prepare any more food so we did not get a meal that evening. The next night we tried the next village which was about a 15-20 winding drive and Anthea was kind enough to book this for us - the food was extremely disappointing - chicken curry without any evidence of any chicken!! Overall, the accommodation and hospitality by Anthea & Brian was second to none. Motueka is a very pretty bay and we thoroughly enjoyed the Seals and Beach Walk tour.

Anthea and Brian made our stay unforgettable and it was the best lodge on our whole trip. It started with a warm welcome and a wine tasting with some homemade delicious food. Also the breakfast was homemade and better as in all hotels. Beautiful nice decorated clean room with a nice view over the bay. In addition you get a lot of recommendation for your further trip. Lodge is place near to Kaiteriteri beach. It is the place to stay if you visit NZ!
