We booked a basic cabin which was fine but there was no absolutely kitchen equipment, pots, pans etc in the shared kitchen.. made cooking our family dinner really tricky. No fridge, TV, toaster or kettle in the cabins, had to make our own beds.. we would have been ok with that if the price was cheaper but at $120 per night for very very basic amenities, we could have pitched our tent for half the price. Wifi was average too, with the free wifi only lasting about half an hour before you had to buy more.
Staff at reception were friendly and helpful though.. but overall Would give the place a miss next time. We have stayed in a lot of campsites cabins around NZ and felt it was well overpriced for what you got. :(

If you’re fortunate enough to get a spot to camp in Kaiteriteri, you must have done something right. We were there for eight glorious days, including two nights and a day that was a washout with steady rain. (Went to the Pic's Peanut Butter World in Nelson) We took our caravan, but many people camp in tents, and bring their own refrigerators. The facilities are great, and although there is no lounge or designated times for cleaning, they make it work. I believe there are plans to make a conference centre and a lounge area.
I couldn’t tell when they were planning to clean, but did notice that at times they had one of the toilet blocks closed, and the smell of cleaning coming from it. There are enough amenities blocks that if one is closed, an open one isn’t too far a walk away. The place was always clean and tidy. The staff work very hard and are accommodating. We’ve been there twice in mid-December and would relish the opportunity to go back again. I’m interested to see how it is in wintertime... a wee bit colder, but still beautiful and less crowded.

If they could do something about the ducks, or more specifically the duck poo, that would be great. We covered it with sand, then it rained. Guess it doesn't help that some campers think they are their pets.

This place was a great find! We originally only booked for the 1 night, but fell in love with the area and the motel so asked to extend an extra night. The motel owner went above and beyond to sort out an extra night accommodation. Her hospitality was outstanding, nothing was ever a problem.
Extremely clean and well maintained rooms and ground.
They have a bbq area which was very clean, so we took advantage and enjoyed a bbq in this area while watching out to the views.
Very highly recommend!

We stayed at this location over the Christmas/New Year holiday. First 3 nights in one of the apartments then 5 nights on a powered pitch in our motorhome. Our first impression was of poor customer service, despite these apartments being priced in the higher market sector. They must realise that if they are setting the pricing level at hotel levels then customers expect and are entitled to decent customer service. The apartment is listed as having a full kitchen facility but is actually only equipped with a microwave and hob. This is NOT full kitchen facilities, please do not mislead potential clients. On a positive note the staff did help with providing us with a safe location tom park our motorhome while we stayed in the apartment.

They allowed us to book one night either side of doing the Abel Tasman - which worked perfectly. The apartments were well situated near the beach, with shops, cafe and restaurants close. The apartment itself was lovely. Two bedrooms, a large kitchen diner with all necessary facilities. Reception staff were very helpful - allowing us to park suitcases with them for 3 days. Loved it!

Kaiteriteri Reserve Apartments = Superb location, a nice place to relax, Unit 8 has incredible views of the beach and sea, excellent parking, very close to amenities. We would stay again. The downside is the quality of the room and its fittings, the bed is not good enough for the nightly price charged nor is the TV, the overall décor gives it a very budget feel. The room needs a complete refit to warrant the high nightly room rate, (even the paint job is poor). For sure it’s a great location but with a more attention to the detailing this could be one the best rooms to stay, anywhere.

A real disappointment to stay at Kaiteri camp ground. We stayed here a few years ago and have since stayed at Bethany Park. We thought we'd give it a go and haven't even completed a night of our three night stays and would have left if we could have a refund. Poor service, unclean facilities, no parking available for our vehicle even though the camp is less than 30% full. Poor internet and limited internet. More expensive than Bethany that has better facilities, full internet and free parking for vehicles/boats as well as unlimited wifi and it is cheaper. We wont ever stay here again so disappointing

Booked into the Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve and got a family cabin. The cabin was located 1 block back from the beach, with ample car parking outside each unit.

The Cabin was more akin to a motel room. Very spacious, with a dining table and chairs, kitchenette with fridge/freezer, Tea/coffee Facilities. Off the dining/kitchen area was lovely patio. The back half off the cabin was a bunk bed and a double bed. You could curtain off the sleeping area from the dining area. There was a TV mounted in front of the double bed. Large bathroom with walk in shower.

The Good:

*Awesome location, literally 20 second walk to the golden sands of the beach. Under a minute to the shop and restaurants.

*Really quiet which was surprising. There was quite a few people around in tents and campervans, but it was really quiet.

*Actual real milk in the fridge. None of that UHT rubbish!

*Friendly staff at Check In, very clear instructions and directions.

*Spacious, clean unit

The not so good:

*You do have to make your own bed with provided linen, which is no drama for me. But the duvets were incredibly stained and pretty gross. Not sure if they had been washed

*The double bed was incredibly short and I'm not tall. Heads up also for soft bed lovers, they are quite hard beds.

*There was all this equipment like pots and pans in the kitchenette, but no little plug in cook top which was a shame. I guess you have to take it all over to the main Camp Kitchen. But really, the space is there in the cabin, and a little plug in cooktop in the cupboard would be awesome and go a long way!

Really all in all, well worth the 5 star rating. I thought the price, while maybe on the high side, was fair enough.

Well worth giving it a go! I did enjoy my stay and will stay again!

First, our reservation for 1x adult 2x children was “updated” to 2x adults 1x child due to “minimum charge”.
(As well as prices going up after initial booking).

Washing machine has gone from $2 to $4.

Dryer from $2 per cycle to $2 per 15 minutes (and you’ll need at least 45 minutes if you want your washing drier than it was when you put it in).

Boat/trailer wash was 50c now $2.

All day car parking is now $5 (used to be free).

Reception won’t give cash for above facilities by eftpos - insist you use ATM inside the shop, which charges 1.4% for the “convenience”.

God forbid children ride their bikes around the camp now.

No fun to be had, just spend money please.

Not quite sure WHY they’re trying to drive regulars away, but I’ll certainly be considering Bethany Park next year.

We loved our 2-night stay in one of the apartments over the shop. A good balcony with a view over the reserve and towards the sea. All the facilities you require for a short stay with a very handy small supermarket close by. Great location for exploring Abel Tasman either by boat or by road with plenty of walking trails.
