This place was a great find! We originally only booked for the 1 night, but fell in love with the area and the motel so asked to extend an extra night. The motel owner went above and beyond to sort out an extra night accommodation. Her hospitality was outstanding, nothing was ever a problem. Extremely clean and well maintained rooms and ground. They have a bbq area which was very clean, so we took advantage and enjoyed a bbq in this area while watching out to the views. Very highly recommend!
So disappointed ... booked an apartment online and when arrived after a 6 hour drive did not get the apartment we had booked. Were given a lower grade apartment. Hospitality and the way things were handled rate a 0. Be very careful when booking.
Great clean camp, wasn’t too busy and excellent beach/sea view. What a great part of New Zealand. The only problem was the water temperature, it made you gasp and eyes pop😂🤣🤓 Well book again next year, fingers crossed🤞🤓
We spent a week at this campground during low season. We had planned to spend only a few days but were offered a really great rate due to low tourists numbers with borders closed. Well done for trying to target Kiwi tourists. Pays to negotiate a rate rather than take online rate if you are flexible. This campground is so convenient - we didn't use the car all week. Lovely big sites with trees - lots of room for the children to play. The facilities are old but very clean. I can imagine it's quite a different experience in peak season but was great value for September holidays.
Booked into the Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve and got a family cabin. The cabin was located 1 block back from the beach, with ample car parking outside each unit. The Cabin was more akin to a motel room. Very spacious, with a dining table and chairs, kitchenette with fridge/freezer, Tea/coffee Facilities. Off the dining/kitchen area was lovely patio. The back half off the cabin was a bunk bed and a double bed. You could curtain off the sleeping area from the dining area. There was a TV mounted in front of the double bed. Large bathroom with walk in shower. The Good: *Awesome location, literally 20 second walk to the golden sands of the beach. Under a minute to the shop and restaurants. *Really quiet which was surprising. There was quite a few people around in tents and campervans, but it was really quiet. *Actual real milk in the fridge. None of that UHT rubbish! *Friendly staff at Check In, very clear instructions and directions. *Spacious, clean unit The not so good: *You do have to make your own bed with provided linen, which is no drama for me. But the duvets were incredibly stained and pretty gross. Not sure if they had been washed *The double bed was incredibly short and I'm not tall. Heads up also for soft bed lovers, they are quite hard beds. *There was all this equipment like pots and pans in the kitchenette, but no little plug in cook top which was a shame. I guess you have to take it all over to the main Camp Kitchen. But really, the space is there in the cabin, and a little plug in cooktop in the cupboard would be awesome and go a long way! Really all in all, well worth the 5 star rating. I thought the price, while maybe on the high side, was fair enough. Well worth giving it a go! I did enjoy my stay and will stay again! …
