Nestled in a picturesque setting, Kimi Ora Eco Resort has garnered accolades for its comprehensive amenities, which include a spa, comfortable lodgings, and an array of activities that captivate guests. While the majority of visitors rave about the pristine rooms and breathtaking views, a few note that some rooms could benefit from rejuvenation.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed as a family with a 6 year old and 10month old. The cleaning staff kindly prepared our room early so we could check in and put our baby down for a nap. The room was warm and clean with beautiful views and everything we needed. They had even provided a high chair, and the portacot was new, with a decent mattress (not the horrible hard things usually provided), and lovely bedding including sheets and soft blankets. The little towel with the embroidered 'baby' was a lovely touch.
We all enjoyed the breakfast and the glow worm walk was a fun adventure for my 6 year old. The indoor pool was lovely and warm, even for a baby. I was a little concerned the whole resort may be more suitable for couples etc and families may be less welcome. But I could not have been more wrong! The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we had a great stay!
Thank you so much!

The 6 days that we stayed in the Eco Resort were perfect in every way. Set in a beautiful environment the accommodation was very comfortable and kept very clean; tasty breakfasts and dinners were served in a spacious restaurant with outdoor table options and a stunning view of the ocean; the spa facilities were excellent - as were the 3 sessions that we booked in with the spa staff.
The Resort's location is equally well suited for totally lazy days or for more energetic activities (bikes, walks, kayaking, swimming....) depending on one's mood.
I cannot recommend the place more than saying that we will return!!

This is not the type of property we probably would have booked ourselves, but the outfit we arranged our New Zealand tour with had trouble getting their usual spot, so opted to put us up here. We are SO glad they did!
Not knowing what to expect, the property is a bit tricky to find the first time, but our guide got us there. Tucked up on a hill, it is not ideal for anyone who is disabled, as the rooms are spread out and the elevation does take some level of being fit to manage. However, once you are there and settled you find the real beauty. The surroundings are all natural, with trails and walks to be had!
The staff is super friendly and gives a great overview at check-in. Our room was very spacious, with two bedrooms, a patio and large bathroom. It was PERFECT for us and gave ample space for our baby and toddler to play.
There is both an indoor and outdoor pool, multiple hot tubs, sauna, spa, etc... Definitely leave yourself time to just enjoy the property and amenities!
The restaurant is vegetarian, but do not let that deter you. The food was FANTASTIC! Dinner offered some really unique and delicious options and the breakfast spread was quite impressive!
A bonus that caught us totally off guard was the glow worm walk. We had opted not to do the glow worms elsewhere in New Zealand due to distance, etc. To discover we could walk less than 10 minutes from our room using the flashlight supplied in our room and see glow worms during the nights was AWESOME! It is an easy trail to follow and something not to be missed during your stay.
Kimi Ora is uniquely awesome!!!

If you are fit, have no mobility problems and just want a base to sleep, mountain bike and hike and do not want to make use of the pool facilities then this would be fine for you.
But if you were expecting easy walking access with spacious parking, a nice place to sit around the pool and enjoy the view and use the facilities then you will be very disappointed. This resort has seen better days. It is located on a steep slope with some rooms about 180 metres down or up from the reception/ eating and pool areas. When we arrived only one person was on duty all day. Service is minimal. We had to lug our heavy suitcases up twelve steep steps to our room. In wet weather this could have been dangerous. The pool is very tired with about eight steamer chairs but no lounger cushions. There were three ordinary loungers, two of which had cushions, but these were covered in birds' droppings. The grass area was worn out with lots of soil patches and the uneven decking had not been repainted in a long time. The pool is open to outside people, mainly nearby campers. There is no security and no safe in the rooms. Some young campers drove up to where we were staying and nearly reversed into our car because of the limited space. There was no cupboard just some hooks to hang clothes. The breakfast is minimal continental. It is a thirty minute steep walk to the cafe on the front.

Dear Brelade55, Thank you for taking the time to write a review and providing us with some valuable feedback. We are really sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. Unfortunately because of our location on the hillside, and how the units are placed for sea views, we do have steep driveways in some areas. As the rooms are spread out in the resort, if guests do have difficulty walking around, we do recommend driving to the reception/restaurant for dining and we have parking near the pool area also. Had we been aware of your requirements at the time of booking, we would have recommended an alternate room type as the other 1 bedroom suites had already been booked out when we received the reservation request. It was a very unfortunate situation that we could not move you to a different room and apologize again for that. Due to the resort being completely fully booked and the allocations of our forward bookings it simply wasn't possible. Please understand if it were we would have absolutely done so right away. We have taken your comments on board about the stairs and loungers, new loungers are being purchased today. Unfortunately our grass has dried out in some places as a result of the extremely high temperatures this summer and water restrictions being in place. We pride ourselves on our fresh and healthy vegetarian continental breakfast buffet. We truly believe it is great value as it is offered complimentary to our inhouse guests. We offer cooked croissants, fruit salad, bircher muesli, organic yoghurt, organic fruits, organic vegetables such as cucumber, tomatoes and microgreens grown on site, pesto, hummus, cheeses, organic bread, boiled eggs etc. a full range of organic tea and filter coffee, and a range of organic plant milks. We do hope you enjoy the rest of your travels and time in New Zealand. All the best, Brigitta

It is a nice place that we visited a few times before. But this stay was a bit disappointing due to the next few things: the Breakfast that was included in the fare was very “poor”. And even though it is a vegetarian restaurant - no vegetables were served at ALL!
The Free WiFi was extremely week during the whole week of our stay!
Sauna is a very good addition to this place, but it looks very tied and requires a good renovation.

Dear Garilenic, Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We are disappointed that your stay was not as enjoyable as previous visits with us. Unfortunately due to our location, the wifi service in Kaiteriteri is average at best, so when the area is busy we find that it is slower than usual much to our frustration. We are looking forward to a fibre optic, high speed broadband connection when it becomes available in our area! I have passed on your comments to the Head Chef/Restaurant Manager of the Views Restaurant regarding no vegetables at all on the vegetarian dinner menu and he is reviewing menu options. As we are trying very hard to minimize packaging at Kimi Ora, as part of our sustainability objectives, we source local suppliers and grow our own seasonal produce where we can. To our disappointment, our greenhouse cherry tomatoes and cucumbers that we grow for the breakfast buffet have been very late this year, hence we never had them available at breakfast over Christmas and new year season when you stayed with us. We appreciate any comments that can help us improve on the breakfast and would love to hear any ideas and suggestions. You are welcome to email us at info@kimiora.com I am pleased to also advise that as part of our maintenance schedule, this winter we will be upgrading areas of the pool and spa which includes the saunas. I'm sure you will agree that any renovations need to be scheduled for the quieter months to minimise disruptions to our guests. We look forward to welcoming you again next summer and hope you have another enjoyable visit. Kind Regards Suzie and the Kimi Ora team.

I recently stayed five nights at Kimi Ora Eco Resort. This was perhaps my seventh stay at Kimi Ora and not once have I been disappointed. The staff greet me by my first name and all seem happy which is due to management and owners who treat their staff with respect. Many of the staff have been with Kimi Ora for over 10 or more years, which says a lot about the ethos of the owners. The breakfasts are a lovely way to start the day. The vegetarian dinners are nothing less than outstanding with the lasagne and mushroom-polenta stack being two favourites. Pizzas are very good, too. Rooms are nice, always clean and pleasant. Kimi Ora represents excellent value for anyone who enjoys hiking on the Abel Tasman Coast Track, boating, fishing, kayaking, canoeing or just chilling out. Multiple water taxi services provide daily trips from Kaiteriteri to the national park. While you may observe a numbe of retired people staying here you will also notice young families with children who delight in the heated pool. This place has it all catering to all ages and is definitely a family friendly place to stay. I can't wait to return to Kimi Ora Eco Resort. The energy and feeling of this place is really special. You won't be disappointed.

We booked over the phone about 6 weeks prior to staying. We aren’t the type to normally spurge on accommodation but decided to as it was for our honeymoon and we wanted to treat ourselves with the ‘spa experience’ after completing the Abel Tasman walk. When we arrived we were told that it was not possible to have any spa treatments as they were fully booked and they require bookings to be made weeks in advance. I was so disappointed as I was not told this on the phone when we booked 6 weeks before hand.. Their spa is open to the public but I feel that the guests that are paying to stay the night should be first priority and there should always be availability as is it a ‘spa resort’. The food wasn’t very nice, the menu looked creative and exciting but was very monotone in flavour. In the evening when we were closing the blinds, the blinds completely came off the hinge and fell onto the ground; resulting in an injured hand. When we informed reception she just smirked and there was no apology. On a good note the room was absolutely gorgeous and the attention to detail was immaculate!
Overall my partner and I were so disappointed with our stay at Kimi Ora that we decided to leave the following day as we did not feel it’s was worth the large amount of money we paid. We wanted the spa experience and that is not what we got.

I have gotten used to Kiwi standards for nice stays, but I was pleasantly surprised by Kimi Ora. They have pulled no punches in making an excellent stay on our October 2020 trip. Everything from food, to accomodations, to the staff actions, we were treated very well on the international standard. The grounds were well kept. Even the TV set was wired correctly and allowed me to watch Netflix from my mobile phone. They were always eager to please. The views from our chalet were stunning. The pool area was gorgeous with generous sized pools including one heated, a textured grotto with sauna, steam bath, and cold water wash. We were close to everywhere we wanted to be. Kaiteriteri will be long remembered.

My husband and I stayed at Kimi Ora the week before Christmas and absolutely loved everything about this property. We wish we had booked at least a week stay here there is so much to do and the accommodation is fabulous. We stayed in a spa room and will book this again next time. The unit is very large, immaculately clean and had a seperate spa tub room with amazing views to the ocean. The outdoor deck with table and chairs, shade covering and lounges is great for a lazy day. Loved the kitchenette with refrig, cooktop and everything you need. It is great to have the aircon at night during summer. There is so much to do and the layout of the property is spectacular- all the unites tucked into the trees with walking trails, glow worm trail, spa, indoor and outdoor pools, spas, sauna. The restaurant has beautiful views and we so enjoyed the breakfasts here and the vegetarian restaurant. We love their commitment to the environment with the recycling bins outside the cabin and environmentally friendly touches such as compose bins,
Everyone we dealt with was super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. There is so much to do in the area as well. This has become one of our favourite areas of NZ and best places we have stayed. Kimi Ora is truely a gem! Thanks for a fabulous time and we can’t wait to come back for an extended stay!

We stayed in NZ for a month and this was by far the best place we stayed. The rooms were lovely, bed super comfy, the restaurant was excellent (vegetarian only) and the sitting areas for a pre-meal drink also very pleasant with great views over the beach and sea. I have no downsides to report. The reception staff were very helpful, and helped us choose and book a sea kayaking day (which we booked through them). I cannot say enough about how much we loved it here. Would go back in a heartbeat.

There are bus/shuttle services that go from Nelson to Kaiteriteri. I didn't use it as we had a car when staying there, but they are daily and most likely more than 1 a day from various companies. Once you've booked your accommodation, I would suggest you contact the resort directly and ask them to either advise you which company to use, best way to get to them or they may even be able to organise a transfer for you from Nelson. They were very helpful and lovely to deal with when we stayed there.
Its a short walk from the main beach up to the resort although not the easiest with luggage.
A beautiful part of the country and you can get water taxis from the main beach up into the National Park for day trips if required. So you can see a lot without needing to have a car (as long as you are able to walk short distances).
I can recommend sea kayaking in the area and an overnight stay at the Awaroa Lodge near the top of the park if you want to spend a bit of time walking some of the tracks. There are plenty of day trip options too where you can visit some lovely beaches, and seal colonies and do some walks.
Hi. Kimi Ora Resort is about an hour from Nelson I am unsure of the buses that go to Kaiteriteri as we have never had to use them. The other alternative is to hire a car for a couple of day's. That will give you the freedom to look around a bit & you will want to as it's a beautiful part of the country.
