KAITERITERI Retreat in Abel Tasman Park is a true gem! From the moment you make contact, hosts Greg and Michel go above and beyond to ensure an exceptional experience. Their guidance is impeccable, helping with every detail from house procedures to the best activities in the area. Whether you’re interested in hiking the famous coastal track, taking a sea shuttle, kayaking, horseback riding, or fishing, they’ve got it covered. Their recommendations for sightseeing and dining are also spot-on, making sure you experience the very best of this breathtaking region.
The house itself is stunning, with sweeping views of the beach and boat ramp. The floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, highlighting the warm hardwood details throughout, from doors to stairs. The rooms are spotless, bathroom state of the art, the king-size bed is incredibly comfortable, and the attention to detail in every corner of the retreat shows just how much care goes into hosting. The beautiful garden is the perfect finishing touch, creating a serene setting to relax after a day of adventure. Breakfast is served in the lounge overlooking Kaiteriteri beach. Michael bakes delicious fresh bread and creates a tasty smoothie with fresh local fruits.
If you’re looking for a luxurious, nature-immersed retreat with truly exceptional hosts, KAITERITERI Retreat is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
P. S. The Smoking Barrel in Motueka serves the world’s best Tomahawk steak. Cold and hot smoked, sous vide and finished with a special rub on the grill. Gras fed New Zealand beef in perfection! 😍🙏🏻

We had a lovely 4 night experience at Kaiteriteri Retreat. We splurged on one of the suites (highly recommend) which was very comfortable and gave us access to the guest lounge with its large picture window looking out over the beach as well as an awesome continental breakfast with a variety of cereals, freshly baked bread and smoothies. Greg and Mike are wonderful welcoming hosts. They spent time with us each morning to help us plan a weather appropriate itinerary and checked in on us to make sure we were having a great time and had everything we needed. They pay attention to the littlest details and keep the property impressively immaculate. And you can’t beat the location. Just a short walk to where the Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle picks you up and a short drive to area attractions like Pu Pu Springs, Wainui Falls and the town of Takaka. We highly recommend the Kaiteriteri Retreat to anyone visiting the Abel Tasman region.

We’ve just spent 4 nights at Kaiteriteri Retreat and had a fantastic time. Greg & Michael made us feel very welcome, the room was large with a very comfy bed and huge shower. Breakfast was tasty with homemade smoothies and homemade bread every day. The view, right over Kaiteriteri beach, was to die for. It was so good that I got up at 6am on our last morning to sit and watch the sunrise over the bay. Perfectly located for exploring the Abel Tasman national park with water taxis leaving right from the beach across the road. Pre-arrival emails gave lots of helpful information. If we ever come back to New Zealand we’ll definitely book to stay here again. Thanks guys for looking after us so well.

Stunning view and location. Our host, Greg, was wonderful. He is fabulous at communicating and the breakfast was superb. The bedroom was well appointed with a Tempur bed and the bathroom in the Diva Suite had a large shower with a rain shower at one end and a shower head at the other. The Diva Suite and King Studio share the upstairs lounge. You won’t want to leave!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kaiteriteri retreat. It is the perfect launching point into the Abel Tasman National Park. We were able to quickly walk to the boat that takes you to multiple stops along the coast. Greg and Michael provided excellent guidance regarding when and how to book. Their location was also easy to get to Moteaka for more dining options. The retreat itself is impeccably maintained and outfitted. The views from the rooms is fantastic. Highly recommend.

You could not get better views of Kaiteriteri which is just one of the many positives with staying at this retreat. Greg and Caleb are exceptional hosts, welcoming, informative and super friendly. The accommodation is to a very high standard, the bedroom was well appointed with a very comfortable bed, spacious bathroom with an excellent shower. Breakfast is continental, prepared by Caleb with freshly made bread, fresh fruit, a selection of cereals with the option of a freshly made smoothie. Should you wish to stay at the retreat you have the options of lying on a lounger soaking up the sun or taking in the wonderful views from the guest lounge while lazing on one the leather loungers. Highly recommend.

If you are doing the cruise and Abel Tasman walk then stop at this fabulous B&B. It is a 3 minute walk from the boat. It is luxurious, you are spoilt by Greg and Michael and they have such beautiful views. They provide lots of extra touches and are helpful with tips to help you enjoy the area. You can sit in the guest lounge after your scenic walk and watch the boats on the beach. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
