A bit disappointing would be my summary of this property. We paid £538 for 4 nights and I wasn't sure it was good value. Starting with the positives: The unit is located a 10 minute walk (up and down hills) to Little Kaiteriteri beach. About ten-minute walk to the main village centre. The unit was clean, modern with a good bathroom and shower. The 5-foot double bed was comfy, the patio faced the afternoon sun and there was a fridge, kettle, toaster, tea, coffee, cereal, a loaf of bread and complimentary milk and sachets of jams, peanut butter etc. There were plenty of electrical sockets – but no flat screen TV. The units shared a washing machine and tumble drier which were free to use. All credit to the owner who had replaced a defective washing machine with a new one whilst were there. Now let’s talk about the negatives: The very steep driveway down to the property was narrow and a bit unnerving. You could only access it coming up from Kaiteriteri because of the sharp angle of the driveway. Parking was adequate, but tight. There are four units in a row. We thought they were cramped. Our unit had a good-sized bathroom but the room itself was small. Two shelves supported the toaster and kettle etc - and the only table at the correct height to work on (or eat off) was outside. We brought it inside in order to eat and edit pictures on my laptop. Sometimes the unit was serviced...but even when it was this did not mean the bed was made, the bin was emptied or the floor swept, but the cereals were replenished, and the towels were changed for us (once). The wi-fi was terrible. Slow, intermittent and sometimes not available at all. There was no air conditioning – just a fan. And nowhere (except the floor) to leave your suitcases. Outside a new set of stepping stones were being laid. I am not a fan of building works taking place whilst people are resident – although the builder was cheerful enough. Sadly, we never met the owner/manager. We did receive clear messages about how to get in (key in door) and how to access the driveway, but it does add a personal touch to be greeted personally. And I felt it was misleading to say this was bed and breakfast. The unit had no microwave or any cooking facilities at all. By breakfast, the owner meant that bread, cereals and milk were left in the unit. In summary – adequate – but not good value.

Location: A little 7 min walk to the closer beach Little Kaiteriteri or about 12 min to the city center of Kaiteriteri with numerous restaurants and plenty of tourist infrastructure.

Rooms: Small room, but modern furnishings and the furniture by no means worn out. Very nice bathroom.

Other: The landlords we did not get to see – the key was already in place and breakfast was in the fridge. Kind of weird action....

Conclusion: Was ok for the night, but we admittedly don't want to spend a week there.

We weren’t planning to stay in Abel Tasman, we were going to commute from Nelson, but plans changed and we picked up the last available room at this hotel at short notice.
We hadn’t researched much, it was just close to Abel Tasman and not expensive so it ticked the boxes.
When we arrived, it was so much more than a tick in the box!
The owners, Dylan (apologies if I’ve misspelt it) and Rebecca (and their gorgeous dog) were really welcoming and gave us loads of good advice for our short stay.
The hotel is actively eco friendly and gave us ( a couple of 50 somethings) a gentle reminder of the difference we can all make doing simple things. Cereal in glass jars, not individual plastic packs, yoghurt, jam etc. In reusable glass pots, “green” hand wash the list goes on.
There was not a single thing in that room that either could not be reused or did not come from sustainable sources and we were not inconvenienced in the slightest. We will be making some changes when we go home!
The rooms themselves are really high quality, clean and comfortable and there is a shower you could play table tennis in. Everything has been built, furnished and decorated to a high standard.
The breakfast provided was perfect, nothing fancy but good, healthy food that should work for anybody.
There is a nice deck overlooking the inlet (as the hotel name suggests) and a big sky to watch at night if it is clear (it wasn’t for us but you can’t have everything).
In terms of location, it is no more than 10 minutes walk (we are both 5’4” in our thickest trainers and we did it in 7 minutes) from the centre of Kaiteriteri, with its 2 restaurants, its stunning beach and its half dozen companies offering every possible way to explore the stunning Abel Tasman National Park.
If you are looking for a base to explore Abel Tasman for a few days look no further - this is high quality, sustainable accommodation as close as you can get to one of the most beautiful places on the planet. These guys are doing something just a little bit different, which will become standard in the not too distant future.
I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Room matches pictures B&B style. Stayed 3 nights in one of 4 modern studio rooms under an older house.

Garden area in process of being re-developed but mature trees surround the boundary. Birdsong in trees.

Breakfast essentials supplied - cereal in jars, tea/coffee, milk, yoghurt, juice, bread and spreads, fruit in fridge. Washing up done via a bucket using water from bathroom. Toaster and kettle on bench.

Short walk downhill to Kaiteriteri beach.

Friendly dog and owners.

No recycling container in room, but upon checkout advised to leave our recyclables seperate.

Would certainly stay here again if returning to Kaiteriteri. Nice quiet area and views of estuary.

We booked last minute as a base to explore Abel Tasman. There is limited accommodation in Kaiteriteri so we were really happy when we saw Dylan & Rebecca's place! It's only 5-10min walk from the centre of Kaiteriteri which has a lovely beach, shop, couple of restaurants and the boats to Abel Tasman. The room is spotless and has been done to a very high standard. We also loved all the breakfast items (bread, butter & jam, fruit, cereal, juice) and the freshly baked cookies which were a lovely touch. We also enjoyed the outside deck which had great views. This was one of the most comfortable places we stayed while touring New Zealand and would highly recommend.

It was a very nice and clean place with a very friendly host. For a short stay it is perfect but to be able to have a pleasant longer stay it would be good if there were some more amenities. What we really missed was a kitchenette and a higher table in the room. Also some more comfortable chairs and umbrella outside would be good.

We had a couple of nights stay and only a few minutes walk to the Kaiteriteri beach. There are 4 rooms, I think a couple were for rent and we were at the far end. Any views were limited by trees and bushes but the sun came around mid morning and stayed most of the day. The room itself is simple and I guess reflective of the price, it would benefit from a small kitchen area, possible a microwave and a maybe a TV but it was clean and tidy and OK for a couple of nights. Enjoy.....

This very new and tidy place in just a 7 minute walk from the Kaiteriteri beach and shops, up a bit of a hill (maybe 200m walk, not too steep) and looks out over the (waterless) Kaiteriteri inlet - pretty much sandy mudflats, but surrounded by trees, so nice views. The room was immaculate - no tv or kitchen facilities, just a jug but they also give you plenty of food for a continental breakfast - unexpected and delightful. Five medium sized rooms, all the couples there were enjoying the chilled lifestyle and views - would stay here again without hesitation.
