*Tip - the newer cabins in Wonder Way seem to be more spacious and have kitchenettes with sinks! That is where we will book next time if we come back*

This place is pretty adorable and the concept is absolutely magical but I feel there are a few things lacking.

Firstly it is advertised as a 'resort' yet there are no amenities other than the cabin you have rented. No playgrounds, no activities, no themed pathways/cute things for kids to see, no small convenience shop/place to buy souvenirs (I am that lame person who buys a magnet or postcard everywhere we go). It's literally just the collection of cabins, located next to the cemetery (you feel like you're parking among the graves). To note too - you do have to pull all your luggage/supplies up a hill but they do provide the carts. Could be a problem if it's snowy.

We stayed in Storybook Square in Rapunzel's Cottage as a couple with an almost 3 year old, and our dog. Our friends rented the Midsummer Cottage with their almost 3 year old too.

Travelling in April - meant the weather wasn't super amazing when the sun went down so we needed to do dishes inside and there is literally no space to do this. No space to visit inside, no chairs/table and the 'kitchenette' doesn't have a sink. There is one tiny area of work surface and that's it. Summertime will alleviate some of these problems but at this time of year it was tricky.

Rapunzel's Cottage is advertised as sleeping 6, but the only bed appropriate for our almost 3 year old was almost too small for her, and the others were up very high ladders. It felt very tight. It also got pretty warm inside on the day it was sunny out so I can imagine the cabins being very very hot in summer. Our dogs bed had to be put in the middle of the cabin and we had to move it to get in and out so it's very very tight (our dog is 40lbs, not huge).

Midsummer Cottage had VERY high beds too so not appropriate for young toddlers and our friends ended up co sleeping. There's no running water in that cabin because the bathroom is detached, and the position of the Midsummer Cottage bathroom bathroom + hot tub is very public.

The hot tubs are very small, and when a cabin is advertised as sleeping 6 we were expecting a 6 person hot tub. The hot tubs are for 2 adults and feel like they belong at a romantic resort, when the actual concept is very family friendly. Bigger hot tubs would have improved the experience immensely.

I took a walk to Wonder Way and was invited to look at The Lost Boys Treehouse by the people staying there - and that cabin was much more what I was expecting from the resort. A lot more roomy, real stairs instead of ladders so safer for little ones and a sitting area, plus a sink in the kitchenette! So it looks like Charmed Resorts has made some improvements in the newer section.

If you've got this far in my review, here are my suggestions:

- For the love of all families install some playgrounds, make a fact walk way with stepping stones and fairytale facts on plaques on the trees? Or just some little activities around the resort that will make it feel a little more like a resort. A treasure hunt map in every cabin so kids have an activity or two? Honestly, the resort is a great start but it just needs those little finishing touches to make it great.

- Make it safer in the cabins that are advertised as family friendly but have ladders. Gates at the top of the ladders that are optional to use/pin back if not needed?

- Make it more obvious that the 'kitchenettes' don't have sinks in the storybook square cabins as this was surprising to us as when I read 'kitchenette' I was expecting a sink.

We did enjoy our time at Charmed Resorts and hope that if we come back at a later time we see a few improvements and playgrounds installed!

We stayed at this resort early in December and had a fabulous time. We chose Rapunzels Cottage as it was advertised as sleeping 6, and we went as our family if 3 with another family if 3.

The details put in to the resort are amazing. Every little detail is thoughtfully considered to make it a magical place. We were lucky enough to stay overnight Christmas and the cottage was so beautifully decorated.

I would highly recommend visiting Charmed Resorts, but wanted to offer a few tips for travellers:

- the kitchenette in this cottage is not what I would describe as a kitchenette. There is a fridge, microwave, and BBQ. You will need to bring your own plates, bowls, cutlery etc. We had to run out and buy glasses to have a drink.

- the wood-fired hot tub is amazing, but beware that it takes a long time to heat up (in December) so get the process started early.

-although it is advertised as sleeping 6 it was quite small. We were fortunate the weather was very warm and it was comfortable for the adults to enjoy the fire pit outside when the kids went to bed. It would have been hard if it was colder. Our girls are also 4 years old, and it would have been hard if they were bigger.

I’d definitely stay here again for all the magic!

This resort is a very unique place to spend with family and kids.
The different types of little houses are beautiful.
They are inspired by children’s stories and books.
They are very cozy inside.
The beds are comfortable, there is a small kitchen with a sink, refrigerator and microwave… all are small but great !!!
The location is just beautiful, in a middle of a forest.
Outside there is a fire petit little stools around. There is a small hot tub, a picnic table and a BBQ GRIDDLE.
We enjoyed our 2 night stay tremendously.

This place couldn't be further from instagram vs reality. Located right next to a cemetery, in many ways it felt disrespectful and incredibly eerie. Stayers beware. Lack of amenities nearby amongst many other things makes these cabins strange in the utmost ways. No privacy and very tacky. I can't even begin to comprehend what is going on here...
