Detailed Reviews
Nice hotel in a beautiful area with plenty of options for a hike. Cosy restaurant with a very nice menu, especially considering the fact this is the takeaway menu due to COVID-19 measures. I had the wild boar skewer. Very tender! Surely recommend to try out the new (takeaway) menu. Combined with an overnight stay even better to enjoy it in the restaurant.

The rooms were clean, the service great and the staff friendly. It is indeed a great place to stay and is close to the beautiful beaches at Castricum aan Zee. I would definitely recommend staying here.

+1
My friend and I stayed for six nights Whilst attending a course and I really enjoyed our Stay. The room was very clean, comfortable and a good size we had a twin with private toilet and shower. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels left, there are tea and coffee making facilities but remember to take your hairdryer. We ate in the bar every night because the food was great the menu is Dutch but it's not a problem some of it we guessed and the waitresses we had were fantastic at explaining what was what. We really enjoyed our stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I stupidly managed to leave a much loved pair of trousers hanging in the wardrobe and they very kindly packaged them up and posted them back to me in the UK. This says everything to me, about what lovely people they are.

Stayed for one night. Cramped room somewhat out of date with two single beds and synthetic bed linnen. No airco and even on an autumn night it was a bit warm. OK for short simple stay. Nice bar/restaurant though.

This hotel is a nice family hotel in the centre of Bakkum. It is close to the beach and just 30 minutes drive from Amsterdam.
The staff is nice and friendly. You can eat in the restaurant or drink a beer in the cafe.

My review is for the restaurant alone. Menu is in Dutch only, but one of the waitresses speaks EN. With a bit of effort you can understand the menu however. Best deal you'll get is for the burgers with fries - around 16 EUR. The New Mexico burger is really not that spicy, although presented to contain jalapenos and paprika. But it tastes good anyway.
Few to zero options for vegetarians, but on the other hand there aren't many options in the area overall.
You can park for free right across from the restaurant. Free wi-fi.

I stayed at hotel Borst at the end of April for 2 nights while visiting familie. Got a free upgrade from a single room to a twin room with a nice view over the square. Room was spacious with all facilities like tea/coffee making, tv etc in place. The host/staff were all very kind and helpfully. Breakfast was typical dutch but lacking the 'hagelslag' which I was looking forward to. Overall a very comfortable convient place to stay close to the beach and just a few minutes walk /cycle from the town centre

The spareribs were terrible and I don’t recommend them!!! They were to sour and because of that you didn’t taste the meat…. The fries are also not good and to salty! The environment was not nice and I were you I would skip this place.

What a mixed experience Fase 4 was. The first day 5 stars, because I had an amazing check-in experience and my room was bigger than expected.
Then I found stains on the towels, so they lost a point for laundry/linnen.
That night another star was lost, because you can hear every coff, word, movement from the rooms next door, the walls are far too thin and they need to do something about that.
The breakfast was good the first day, with a positive friendly staff, the second day items were missing at already 8.30am, the very grumpy lady coordinating staring at everyone when they took something from the buffet, felt like a school canteen.
I really liked the location (easy access to beach and natural park, I was there for hiking). And the lady who checked me in remains 5stars :)

Staff were friendly and efficient, very patient with my lack of Dutch language.
The room was simple, spotlessly clean and comfortable for my one night stay.
I’m on my cycle and they provided safe accommodation for that too.
The food here is excellent also, maybe a little pricy but all in all good value.
Given my travel itinerary rarely allows repeat visits I can still recommend this establishment 5 stars.
