Lovely small Hotel in the centre of Castricum. Easy walk from the station with access to Amsterdam. We were there for a family beach wedding at nearby and superb Club Zand. Ended up taking over the whole hotel for a couple of nights so very much like a home from home for our family and friends gathering. Nice small outside seating area. Great breakfast and staff. Honour bar which was a nice touch. A very relaxed vibe and close to restaurants etc. Recommended.

My husband and I went to Castricum to attend a friend's party on the beach. Through a web search, we stumbled upon the website of Hotel het Oude Raddhuis. It is the old town-hall of Castricum which the mother-and-son tandem, Edith and Sjoerd, renovated and built into a modern hotel. They did a fabulous job at keeping the original details of the building (which is officially declared a monument) and at the same time giving it a contemporary country feel. The hotel's interior is styled by Riviéra Maison.
At the moment we made the inquiry, the team we're still working so hard to reach their deadline. After an exchange of emails with Sjoerd, a room was booked even before the hotel was officially opened. Because we had the honor to be their very first guests, we were made to choose our own room. We went for "Kamer Burgelijke Stand en Secretarie" (they kept the original names on the doors) located on the 2nd floor (3rd for USA). It has a blue motif with high ceilings, exposed beams, a large window with shutters, a good sized wardrobe to stack your clothes away, enough floor space to move around, and a beach-themed bathroom/shower. The bed is big and firm but with a wonderfully soft and fluffy top. I'm a sucker for cleanliness and this hotel more than met my expectations.
Hotel het Oude Raadhuis is located on the main street. If you're short of cash, there are 2 banks/ATMs across it. You can also rent a bicycle across the street if you don't want to take the car or walk all the way to the dunes and the beach which is just a few minutes away. There are restaurants, bars and café's, and even the movies - all that within about a 500-meter radius.
Breakfast was served at their Grand Café and was very delicious and plenty! There were different choices of breads, sweet bread fillings, cheeses and cold cuts. There were eggs, cereals, yoghurt, coffie/tea and juices.
Edith and Sjoerd, thank you for making us feel very welcome! You both are the most gracious of hosts.

We stayed here for four nights. The room was large and the beds very comfortable, the bathroom had a large shower, no bath. The hotel has been converted from the old townhall and it seems that no expense has been spared resulting in a very chic interior. However I do think they sacrificed practicality for style a bit - certainly in our room where the storage consisted of a small cupboard with 4 coat hangers, two wicker bedside tables and two metal suitcases. We obviously didn't want to unpack our suitcases into the metal suitcases - which in any case were stacked on top of each other- so had to live out of our bags rather than unpacking.
The breakfast was good - fresh orange juice, bread, cheese, ham, granola and yoghurt, fruit and a boiled egg.
You can borrow bikes, but there aren't enough for everyone so it's a first come first served system each day. We did get one each time we asked, but you can rent them from the station which is a 5 minute walk if needs be. We needed them to get to the beach which is about 3 miles away through the dunes.
I didn't find the owners particularly friendly but they were efficient and polite.
There are a lot of good restaurants and cafes within minutes of the hotel.
Overall it was very good value for the price we paid and I'd recommend it.

Oh my, what a place to stay! It's so tastefully decorated, albeit quirky and spotlessly clean. The bed was just sooooo comfy it snuggled you in. Castricum is a lovely little town not far outside of Amsterdam. It has plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from, however it was lovely to come back at night and relax in the hotel's honesty bar and have a nightcap before bed. We got bikes from the hotel and cycled along the cycle track to the beautiful beach which has lots of amenities available. Last but not least, the staff are just lovely, not overpowering and can't do enough to help. Thanks for a lovely stay guys!

My partner and I were looking for a Netherland's getaway on the north-west coast ex Amsterdam and found this chic hotel (the old town hall) in Castricum. We arrived before sun set after a full day of exploring the countryside and were impressed with the warm greeting and the hotel's sophisticated interior which is styled by Riviéra Maison.

We were accommodated in the room right at the top of the old Town Hall which was luxuriously appointed and very comfortable. The hotel is located in the main street and is close to plenty of restaurants. Given we LOVE the sea we drove to the beach for dinner, approximately 5-7 minutes away and ate at one of the great beach bar restaurants while the sun set over the sea after a stunningly blue sky day. Absolutely magic!

The following morning after a magnificent breakfast in the Grand Cafe the hotel organised 2 bicycles which were very comfortable and we set off for a wonderful cycling adventure along the well marked trails which are safe given they are car free and they seemed to go on forever. The track cut through forests and sand dunes which was spell bounding with the glorious morning light. The hotel provides a great map to facilitate your adventure. It was the bike ride and our wonderful long lunch at a beach bar at Castricum Ann Zee which was a real standout and if it wasn't for the hotel we would not have discovered this. Thank you!

We stayed for 2 nights and can fault nothing about this hotel. The people are all very helpful and really know how to provide great service. Breakfast was very nice and the availability of drinks throughout the day/evening via the honour bar is a great idea. Our room was comfortable, well-appointed, and the beds were very comfortable. One small downside was the ringing of bells each hour from the neighbouring church although the hotel can't really control this. Just beware if you're a light sleeper and travelling in the summer. The bikes for use with all the cycling paths in the area are also a great benefit. We would definitely stay here again!

Built in 1911, this building originally served as the city hall for Castricum. Rooms are really nice and large with very comfortable furnishings. A nice breakfast with a great cup of coffee is also offered. The young ladies that staff the hotel are wonderful.

Tip: borrow one of the hotel's bikes and take the train from Castricum to Den Helder. Then bike to the Tesso ferry boat and make the 20 minute crossing over to the island Texel. You'll enjoy a wonderful afternoon biking on the island.

We spent last weekend (27-29 March) in the hotel. We had booked all 9 rooms for my parents, children and grandchildren. All communication went very smoothly. Value for money was good and breakfast was great. Castricum is a nice little town close to Schiphol (and Amsterdam). We had a great weekend!
