Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at Riku for 3 nights while visiting friends. We were surprised that the reception desk was not manned, you have to check in with a laptop (we would like to know how older people who are not familiar with computers etc. manage to cope with this). The cleaning lady who happened to be there told us about the procedure! The room was quite decent, but the horrible sewage smell in the bathroom was unbearable. We left the ventilation on all night. The breakfast buffet was great, varied, fresh and there was always everything. The hotel is recommended, but the sewage pipes urgently need to be overhauled.

We chose the Riku because of the description on line. We had a nice room that was well equipped and quiet. Well, except for the church bells, which actually add a touch. The staff spoke no English and was only there between 14:00 and 22:00. It is connected to the Barfusser Brewery where the food is great and the night time staff is very friendly. Breakfast was another story. We showed between 08:30 & 9:00 each morning only to find the buffet almost empty, and the staff did not seem to care about us, even though we were the only ones in the dining room. Would probably not stay there again.

We (family of four - two teenagers) have family in Weissenhorn so we end up there a couple of times a year at least. The little town is growing and some very nice restaurant options have opened up (will save those for other reviews). Along with the restaurants have come some new hotels and the RiKu is the best of them.
The RiKu is a budget hotel. The rooms and service are no frills. That said it is one of the best budget hotels I have stayed at. The rooms are spacious, well lit, well appointed and most importantly clean and quiet. The RiKu is attached to one of the aforementioned new restaurants so while it lacks any type of bar or restaurant you can get to one in a few short steps (indoors no less).
The staff is okay. Perfunctory. They check you in with a minimum of fuss. That said they are not quite 'welcoming’ either. So not the best but not a big enough factor to dock them a full star.
The internet access at the hotel has gotten much better.
The hotel's location is right in the central of Weissenhorn's main shopping area (still not much) and as such is close to everything. Even the train station is only a ten minute walk. Speaking of this the new train from Ulm to Weissenhorn makes getting into the ‘big’ city of Ulm easy, quick and cheap.
One thing I should add is that this is not a sweet, rustic German hotel. It is a modern budget hotels. If you want something more "german” or quaint there are probably better options in Weissenhorn.
Not much more to say. If you find yourself in Weissenhorn this is a great place to stay.

Pros: modern and clean
Good large beds. Great location in the town centre. Great bar/brewery in the same building.

Cons: to my big surprise they turn off the cooling/aircondition in the rooms at 06.00h. So the room got to hot to sleep longer than 06.30.
That was really annoying.

Very good-looking and modern little hotel in the center of lovely small town. Room was clean and cozy with large and comfortable bed. Very good restoran downstairs with selection of local foods. They even have theyr own beer from theyr own brewery. Had no issue with AC - you just have to get up early enough or visit this place in colder days :)
All-in-all very nice stay and would definitely recommend.

Beware of the AC control: default setting will make the AC system HEAT the room to an unknown degree (!) when outside temp goes below 18 degrees in summer.
Thus a horrible first night, since the hotel is not staffed at all between 22 (10pm) and 14 (2pm) the way to turn this system off completely was given the following evening with the hope that it would be more comfortable. A fan provided was tried but intolerable with the draft and noise. So the second night was spent knowing the time exactly from nearby church bells through the open french balcony door.
Nice breakfast restaurant and very kind receptionist with a creative manager on the phone tried to make up for the RiKu hotels belated negotiations with the AC provider to change the settings.

Dear Gustav, as we already mentioned during our previous conversation the AC system complies to the German standard. The system is related to an outside sensor. As long as the outside temperature is lower than 18 degrees the system does not start cooling, which is also conducive in terms of environment protection. However we are sorry that we could not meet your expectations. Kind regards Your RiKu HOTEL Team
