VILLA Zottopera is an old 17th-18th century villa surrounded by century old olive trees from which a renowned oil is obtained. The villa has an elegant area with garden and swimming pool and it is located in the countryside of Chiaramonte Gulfi (RG) in a place that is interesting for its art and culture: Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Agrigento, Siracusa, Noto, Caltagirone, etc. Only a half hour's drive from some lovely beaches, Villa Zottopera is a wonderful agriturismo, a very well preserved example of a grand, farm estate. It's a really good base for easy days out to discovery "real" Sicily. The lovely historical towns of Comiso, Ragusa Ibla, Modica , incredible Baoque towns of Sicily's south-east corner, and yet more fantastic beaches, are within striking distance. One of our favourite towns in Sicily, Caltagirone, is only about 24 Km and, famous for ceramics, it is exactly as one might imagine a Sicilian town be, almost as if leapt out of a film Guests can taste the simple and tasty dishes of the local farmer and stay in suggestive comfortable suite-flats. The Villa with the old buildings adjoining it and the Sicilian courtyard (baglio), the little church, the garden, the swimming pool, give an unforgettable moment of suggestive and poetic atmosphere, as well as a simple and friendly climate, thanks to the small number of guests and to our discrete company and careful service .Courses: Preparation of typical products of the traditional Sicilian cuisine - tasting of olive oil. To those who book directly on this portal will be offered a welcome basket Number of apartment : 7 Beds: 30 Characteristics: Two-three room apartment with bathroom, kitchen and veranda, TV and air-conditioning Free services and facilities: welcome breakfast, wooded garden, mountain bikes and table-tennis, organic vegetal, fruit and eggs of Farm Animals allowed Services on request: traditional tasting only for our guests to guarantee the maximum calm ,breakfast, daily change of bed linen and towels. We also have an old oil press, oil and wine cellars Nearest sea resorts: Scoglitti, Kamarina, Marina di Ragusa (at about 25 minutes) Nearest airport: Comiso Airport (5 Km) - Catania (Km90) Products on sale: Olive oil Villa Zottopera DOP (PDO Protected Denomination of Origin) (organic), conserves-produce of the countryside. Courses: Preparation of typical products of the traditional Sicilian cuisine - tasting of olive oil. Friendly, apartments, pool & superb food. Fab! Ray loves Villa Zottopera atmosphere, its location in "the heart of Baroque " and the wonderful owners. Close to picturesque Ragusa Ibla, Comiso , and half an hour from some of Sicily's most beautiful sandy beaches, Villa Alfredo is a grand farm estate. It's a really good base for easy days out to discover "real " Sicily. The lovely historical town of Ragusa Ibla and Modica is only 8km away, and the incredible Baroque towns of Sicily's south-east corner, and yet more fantastic beaches, are within striking distance. One of our favourite towns in Sicily, Caltagirone, is only about 24km and, famous for ceramics, it is exactly as one might imagine a Sicilian town should be, almost as if it has leapt out of a film. Run by the lovely owners, Villa Zottopera is a wonderful place, which exudes character. There is an old olive press, a fine example of a traditionally decorated cart and a little church. This whole masseria is steeped in history. Villa Zottopera agritourist apartments are in converted farm-workers' houses, off the courtyard. They are Sicilian and rustic, tasteful, and with fairly simple kitchen areas. Most have a terrace, some leading on to the garden, near the pool, which is in a lovely walled garden, with seats dotted about, under trees. There is a cultivated area, where guests are welcome to pick vegetables or fruit in season. You can also collect fresh eggs for breakfast on occasions! Just watch the wide beam on your children's faces as you do. Also very much family-run, Villa Alfredo restaurant feels special and intimate, as they cater only for guests of the apartments. In summer, diners eat on the charming terrace, al fresco. The family is passionate about Sicilian cuisine and the excellent, home-cooked, traditional food is delicious. Past clients have also really enjoyed the cookery courses, which are great fun. Villa Zottopera is a fantastic agriturismo, in every sense of the word.

We spent a week at Villa Zottopera and stayed in the very comfortable and authentically furnished Scirocco rooms, which has a private, well-equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. We were made to feel at home right away by Anna and Antonello, the friendliest hosts you can imagine. Views of the surrounding countryside and the olive groves are beautiful, the swimming pool is located in a well-maintained sunny garden with fig trees, and Anna's Sicilian dishes are absolutely delicious. There's nothing to match the flavour of tomatoes straight from Antonello's vegetable garden!

The baglio and its premises are stunning. Anna has been great with us, she is a caring host and an absolutely amazing cook. For a good price you het a restaurantworthy 4-course meal of local produce and even a freshly cooked multi-course breakfast. We were looking forward to her food every night. Grazie Anna!

An experience that touched us!....you find yourself immersed in the "Ragusa" countryside among vineyards and olive groves. A wonderful historic farmhouse, finely cared for and left in its simplicity. We stayed (unfortunately) only 3 days immediately after the mid-August holiday; Mrs. Anna welcomed us, a wonderful "Christian girl" with golden hands. The evening dinner, prepared by her, made us dive into a revival of memories of our grandmothers' cooking where even the simple pasta with meatball sauce made for the children was sublime. Among other things, sitting on a poolside terrace that gave off the intense scent of carob trees. While swimming in the pool, you can't help but take some figs from the tree and eat some......and if you have dexterity you can even eat some black mulberries without getting your hands too dirty. The relaxation corner under the trees is wonderful as is the whole countryside of olive trees to walk through.
Furthermore, for those who have children, there are two wonderful, delicious dogs ready to welcome cuddles from children.
We'll see each other again...I hope soon.

We stayed in the Casa della Mannira at Villa Zottopera for 1 week in August 2023 (family of 4, there was a double room and a twin room). The location and surroundings are fantastic, lovely pool, Anna is a charming host, great tennis court. We paid for breakfast most mornings and had 3 dinners, all of which were excellent and very good value. We enjoyed a tour of the olive oil production at the farm and I have honestly never tasted olive oil like it! The only complaint is that the air conditioning unit in the apartment is situated in the main bedroom, and while very effective at cooling that room, the rest of the apartment became quite warm. Also, the self-catering facilities are very basic (you are well advised to not try to cook for yourself and just book breakfast and dinner every day as these are so good!)

Don't go to this place. Photos give a completely different effect. Everything sucks, except the cook Anna who delighted our palates, thanks only to her. For the rest, stay away from this residence, you seriously risk getting sick, especially your skin. I'm warning you, go a thousand miles away. Absolute crap. To never again!!!

Anna really made this a special stay. She was warm and an excellent cook. We very much enjoyed her cooking class and her dinners.

We also loved the two dogs on site.

Unfortunately it was very cold when we visited, so we did not use the grounds. The bikes on offer could use maintenance.

I highly recommend staying at Villa Zottopera, magically relive the life of an ancient farm dell 800, oil mill, the cellar, the beam. The owner is available for a historical tour and oil tasting. Moments of absolute relaxation with its swimming pool, you will stay in the typical farmhouses of volta.ottima cuisine, von possibility of Cooking Class
