Great facility, friendly and helpful staff, clean surroundings, lots of activities for children and adults. Our tour guide Alfonso was helpful, accommodating and simply the best. However, in the age of technology, WiFi was only available in the lobby area and not in the rooms, a wider variety in the menus and drinks would help as well as seating accommodations around the pool area.

We stayed for three days, there was quite a variety of food, salad and dessert to choose from and they were quite tasty but if you like Spicy, there was no pepper. The room was comfortable and clean but the highlight for us was the pool, the water was warm and inviting! The beach is also very beautiful and there were entertainment every night, most of the music was in Spanish and not enough English. The Language barrier was a shortcoming at check in but at the guest service you can always ask for Emil, he speak good English. The hotel and room is very clean and well maintained. We were satisfied with our stay!

Dear Anna,Thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the variety and taste of the food, as well as the comfort and cleanliness of the room. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the lack of spicy options and the majority of music being in Spanish. We will take note of your feedback and work towards providing a more diverse music selection in the future. We appreciate your understanding regarding the language barrier at check-in 😉

The physical infrastructure, entertainment and cleanliness of the place were excellent. However, I was disappointed with lack of diversity in the menus that did not cater for Hindus and Caribbean people. There problems with seating accommodation around the pool and towels availability. There is a need to review pool policy, food and birds eating with people in the dining area. The staff was a 5 out of 5, very friendly and accommodating.

I stayed here in June 2022 and I was just disappointed.
Amenities
Needs a lot TLC
"beach club" was closed as well
Bars are ok, they have some good liquor on display but they serve you bottom shelf drinks so my advise is to go with beer(they only have 1 kind of beer at each bar)
They advertise 2 different night clubs but only one opened while I was there
The way the pictures are displayed you are led to believe that the hotel has direct access to the beach, but no, the hotel is gated and to get to the beach they have to let you out, once you CROSS the street there's some steps and you're finally at the beach, that I believe due to climate change is at best 20ft of sand, the other thing is the crazy amount of street vendors basically harassing you, be aware that there is a pretty big community of locals next to the hotel, so there will always be street vendors.
They advertise that have themed nights everyday but none of this happened during my stay

Room

I got a room with two full beds that where pretty hard and pillows where very flimsy, A/C worked well but even with the remote you where unable to change the temperature, linen was clean and the blanket was very thin.
The personal care products provided where very bad quality so bring your own.
Toilet and shower are on separate stalls and in the middle you have the sink, never got even warm water in the shower and the shower head was just falling apart and all the shower needed a deep clean on the grout.
You get ONE 1L bottle of water when you check in, if you need more water you have to get it refilled at the restaurant during operating hours.
My room did not have a do not disturbe sign

FOOD

This was one of my biggest disapointments, since it says they have 2 restaurants and also a "snack" hour
Breakfast had a good variety of food but lunch and dinner where just the same food on repeat and you could tell that wherever was leftover from lunch was put out again for dinner.
Not enough variety, same fish served for lunch and dinner and things like their stroganoff was absolutely disgusting.
Rarely anything was labeled or said what it was so it was just a guessing game.
Only one restaurant opened at the time.
The snack was prepared all at the same time so you got food that had been sitting for like an hour and it did not taste ok, hot dogs served with only mayonnaise because that's all they had.

Staff

Servers and bartender where amazing
Front desk morning staff was super rude

Just got back... it was awesome...

Take your imodium, all 8 people in my group needed it...
due to the dehydration (breeze, intense sun, and great
coconut drinks?)

The island is great the people are very nice, and not at all
pushy (ie dominican republic),

Take the Jeep tour for sure... $45 US for a full day of jeeping
- we saw almost the entire island, 3-4 beaches, a rain forest,
boat tour in the mangroves (starfish, seahorses), offroading,
towns, great lunch on a beach, and finished up with watching
the sunset from a mountain-top... the bar jeep also has beer,
cocktails, water and pop at every stop - all you can drink... it was
the best island activity I've done so far... ask for "Hosé" with the
yellow jeep... we ended up giving him a $45 tip cause we had
such a great day...

Also be sure to go to "playa el agua" the beach that's about 10
minutes up the road... it was beautiful and we had a lot of fun
playing in the surf... the ocean is warm... and the waves are big.

We have to say, that had this been our first visit to the Caribbean, we would have been disappointed! From the minute we left the airport (which was total chaos trying to get the visas sorted), to the minute we arrived at our hotel, we couldn't believe the amount of rubbish everywhere! It was not just dotted here and there, it literally lined every road and street. Having said that, once inside the hotel complex it was immaculate! At the hotel, you are greeted by the animation team, dancing and clapping in time to the music and handed a cocktail. Great you think, there's some daytime activities at least! Think again, that's the only time you see them during the day! (More details or should I say lack of them follow later). Anyway, the rooms were cleaned every day and beds made decoratively and sometimes the towels were made into swans. The hotel as you can see is on 6 floors in the main building and there is a new 2 storey complex (not shown on the photo) behind the same, which I must say was much better! Our room overlooked a new pool which was lovely and quiet and had a snack bar serving toasties, sandwiches and drinks all day. We had a toastie most mornings for breakfast, as the food in the main restaurant wasn't up to much. The food on the whole, in our opinion was poor, having said that we are normally used to 4 star plus hotels (this is rated 2 star), so to be fair, we didn't expect the same variety or quality. There is a main pool snack bar which did burgers, pizza, lasagne, hot dogs and a variety of make your own pasta dishes, which was quite good if you got there when they were hot! (I.E., first brought out!). This pool area was supposed to be where the action was! Ok, it had a volleyball net but there was no organised activities at all during the day. Being volleyball players we got quite excited at seeing a volleyball court on the beach.....just one problem....no net!!

There was supposed to be a seafood restaurant on the beach, it was advertised that $5 would be payable. No problem, at last we can get some decent seafood at least.....it wasn't yet open. You could however, get a burger and some drinks. To the left of the hotel on the beach, a short walk takes you to a fishing village that our rep said was great to have a look at if you're up early....don't bother... it's smelly and you have to walk past hundreds of "buzzard" type looking birds that look at you as if you're their next meal!

Anyway, back to the hotel. You get the idea that maybe the night-time entertainment will make up for the lack of daytime activities? Again, regretfully no! They had a "tribal" kind of ceremony, whereby the main character just grunted at the audience, for them to repeat the grunt louder back to him (not very entertaining really, unless you're a 4 year old), with fire eating and fire dancing around the place, that was better at least. The next night nothing, nor the next night.... a "stars" night - surely this will be a laugh.....an awful mimmicking Ricky Martin, Michael Jackson, Cher and a Venezuelan singing drag queen with an inflatable, ballooned backside - quite amusing).....we didn't bother after that, preferring to play cards, having a few drinks and chatting to some lovely people that we met back at our own poolside area.

With all that said and done, we did however, have a lovely relaxing time. Angel and Canaima Falls trip by 12 seater plane, was worth every penny (£110). Angel Falls was one of the most spectacular sights we have witnessed, especially when our pilots did a third fly by, this time sweeping around, over and down the falls....quite exhilarating! The Canaima Falls was awesome. The minerals in the rocks make the water red - bright red!! Our guide showed us that it was indeed drinkable, being adventurous I thought I'd have a go.... my husband appealed for me not to! Anyway, you go past the first few by boat then climb through the rain forest (yes it rained!!). Our guide was really informative the whole of the time and after encountering a few extremely large grasshoppers that scared you to death, we finally reached the main fall. This is the one that you can walk behind. It's 300m wide and you just get drenched - brilliant experience though! We stopped in the middle where it was a bit calmer and the wall of water just looked like fire - it was beautiful. Thankfully, we had two young boys helping us through the same, as in parts, the passage through is very rocky and it can be quite difficult to see with all the spray. If you wear lenses like my husband and I do, the water almost makes them turn inside out so that you can't see a thing, so the helping hands were very welcomed. We made sure they were tipped and they were very grateful. Only one woman didn't want to go through as she felt it was just too much - it was a shame because she really did miss a great experience. You felt like you'd accomplished something by the time you came back through it again. You then travel back through the rain forest to the waiting boats, which take you back to the main camp where you can get changed and then they lay on a meal for you - chicken, potatoes, coleslaw and a can of coke - not bad really! After that, you're taken to the souvenir shop, then it's the flight back home.

We did go into Porlamar shopping (taxi took appx 20 mins and only 10000 Bolivar's - £4), we were amazed at how cheap some of the designer shops were. Needless to say we did our bit for their economy and bought some bargains!! Had a real laugh with a few of the people there and one guy in particular took a shine to my husbands' Oakley sunglasses. He was a real character and every time we bumped into him, it was "Hi Mr Oakleys". There are people also trying to exchange your money (which you're advised not to do!).

So, all in all it was a good holiday. For £300 each all inclusive you can't possibly grumble!! However, we wouldn't go back there, we're ones for seeing as many different places as possible. I'm glad we're going to Cuba in July and Jamaica next May. Hopefully, we'll get some good volleyball there!

Hope we've not bored you, maybe this will be useful.

Have just returned from one of the best holidays ever.

First I'll start with the negative - there wasn't any!!

And as for the positive....

Rooms. We were in a lovely room on the ground floor near the back pool and sandwich bar. Our room was on the ground floor and kept clean and tidy throughout our stay.

Amenities. As I've said, we were by the pool. I'm not what you might call a confident swimmer but my son is. The pools are deep enough for adults to enjoy but not enough to panic anyone. At the deepest it's about 4ft6 ~140 cms.And a jacuzzi with seating area near the mini waterfall- very civilised.

Staff. All fabulously helpful. We tipped our maid on the first day and had no worries there. The bar and restaurant staff were always polite and helpful. Possibly even a little flirty -which I can tell you helps the holiday confidence!!

Entertainment. There is a daily programme of entertainment provided bythe Animation team. My son loved Rudolpho & Juan who played volleyball and waterbasketball virtually everyday in the main pool.
In the evenings there is a a show on just about every night. It varies between showcasing Latin style thorugh to comedy and then back via pop parodies. Great fun and just right for the whole family.

Food. I eat anything but my son can be picky. We never went hungry. To the point that we ate at the beach restaurant a couple of times because he loved the chicken so much. I almost forgot to go over to the lunch buffet because of the cheese toasties at the far pool. Breakfast was always plentiful and served by cheerey staff. Evening meals were fab too. I sampled most stuff, my son mainly ate pasta but that was his choice and far more variety than either of us could get around in our time there. We were also treated to some themed food nights. Again fab food and great service.

Alcohol! Hey it's the Caribbean what can I say?! The Gatwick crew that we were with started of drinking/ Chandi time at about 11, progressing on to Pina Colado by mid afternoon through to Rum punch, Coco Loco and locally produced beer through the night. All of it exquisite quality.

Fellow guests. For me this was the icing on the cake. Everyone seemed to be there to enjoy just as much as we were. If I could go back there tomorrow I'd be off like a shot.

Excursions. We did some with our tour operator and some via a guy on the beach. No complaints about either.

Locals. Made some new friends. Everyone seemed to e geniune, friedly and appreciates the finances we're putting into their economy

Breakfast offers pancakes, omelette station, boiled eggs, cereal, empanadas, breads, shredded chicken. Coffee hot and cold tea, various juices. Lunch has rice , some type of chicken/fish. Sauteed Vegetables. Salad. Juices. Dinner basically same as lunch but more options. As a trinidadian/or anyone from the Caribbean , you may not like the food since it isn't seasoned like we usually do. It's usually very bland but with no restaurants nearby and the mall not offering much variety you may probably have to eat it to survive.
