The Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport offers a welcoming atmosphere with clean rooms and complimentary treats, though some guests feel the decor could use an update. While opinions on value vary, many appreciate the hotel's convenient shuttle service and the friendly staff. The vibrant rooftop bar is a highlight, yet some visitors suggest improvements in soundproofing and breakfast options. Overall, the hotel's proximity to the airport is popular among guests, though connections to the city may be less than ideal.

Great service on collection from the airport, checkin smooth and efficient, under the current Covid issues the hotel was well sanitised and very safe, a lot of thought has gone into making the stay enjoyable even under the health protection issues the room was extremely sanitised. Dinner was fine, checkout was smooth and the shuttle back to the airport fantastic service. Thank you will be back very soon.

Actually booked here by accident , thought I was booking another airport hotel we had previously stayed in that also starts with C !
Very happy with our mistake .
Greeted by a very helpful receptionist , Liv I think ? She noted my husband was using crutches so allocated us a room with a disabled bathroom . This bathroom was a credit to the hotel - we have recently noticed how inadequate and inappropriate some supposedly disabled accessible bathrooms actually are .
We had an evening meal and a few drinks in a very busy bar . Staff seemed to be a bit overwhelmed but were nonetheless very helpful and friendly.
Our deal included a free breakfast which was served in the spotlessly clean Mayfair restaurant.
Will definitely be using this hotel again and cannot recommend highly enough .

Stayed for one night in this hotel at the start of December and had a wonderful stay. We had been looking forward to a night away when lockdown was eased slightly, and so availed of the 1 night B&B with Dinner deal. It was exactly the night away we needed and we were not disappointed.

We were checked in by an extremely friendly girl on reception who provided us with all the information we needed, and confirmed our time for dinner. When we got to our room we were pleasantly surprised with the size and décor, the double bed was extremely comfortable.

We arrived for dinner that evening and instantly felt at ease in the spacious dining room. It was obvious that staff received a high level of training with keeping to Covid regulations. Tables were spaced out so we were not close to any other diners and staff wore mask at all times. Our food was delicious and service was great. We were reminded by a friendly and professional waiter that the bar would be closing earlier than usual to keep with restrictions. Of course we respected this and returned to our rooms, bringing an extra drink up with us.

Breakfast the next morning was tasty and fresh.

All in all it was a fantastic stay and I look forward to returning in the near future.

Stayed in this hotel with my 12yr old as our flight was cancelled until the next morning, check in was swift and efficient but when we tried to open the door to our room it kept flashing red, we went down to Reception to reactivate our keys 3 times, eventually we were told to wait for a Duty Manager who would check the lock for us.

20 minutes later we were still sat in the lobby with our cases, when I asked how long he would be I was told the Duty Manager was looking for a screwdriver and wouldn’t be long, eventually we was told it had been fixed and to go up to room and the lock should be fine, no offer of a comp drink or breakfast for the inconvenience.

When we got to our room the Duty Manager was waiting by the door when he tried the key card it wouldn’t open, first putting in the card slowly then taking it out then retrying it really fast and eventually the light turned green, he said there was nothing wrong with the lock and I felt he implied I didn’t know how to use it. I work in a four star hotel and am well aware of how to use a key card.

Even though I had requested a quiet room our room was right above the smoking area outside the front door so my daughter was still awake at 1.30am with the noise of people laughing and joking in the smoking area.

We booked on the free shuttle bus back to the airport in the morning which was a great service and requested a 7am wake up call, unfortunately we didn’t get the wake up call .. luckily I had set my alarm otherwise we would have missed our flight.

My daughter celebrated her confirmation at the Mayfly Restaurant , Carlton Hotel yesterday. We booked it last minute and despite the late booking the staff went out of their way to accomodate us to the highest standards. When we arrived we were overwhelmed with the attention to detail. My daughter was treated like a princess. The menu was personalised , she received a lovely card from the staff and a party pack. Her meal and drinks were free. The food was really lovely, piping hot and very tasty. The service was excellent too. The staff took really good care of us all especially a family member with special needs. We will definitely go back soon. The price was excellent too.

This hotel was on the ball after a days drive with welcoming environment, friendly service and lively bar and restaurant. Right next to airport but completely quiet inside. With three adults we could get a preferable room with a king for us and a single for our son instead of the usual two doubles. Cozy and Comfortable beds and all the expectec amenities like fridge and kettle. If only we could have figured out how to reduce the heat! Great value.

Absolutely appalled by how I was treated by the reception staff in this hotel . Made booking on hotels.com like I have every other time I stayed here (numerous) I arrived to check in and opted to pay cash and was told by choosing this option I must pay a €200 deposit on top of my room fee so almost €400 for a one night stay !! I had no money on my card so it was not an option and it had never been a problem any time before. I was told I was not notified that this was new procedure and the reply I got was ‘you should have read the small print’ when I asked to speak to a manager I was then replied with ‘your looking at one’ and was laughed at by the 2 women !! I would never stay here again because of this absolutely ridiculous

Hi Amy, No one laughed at you. I have spoken to the reception team and checked the CCTV. Carlton Dublin Airport is known for its warm customer service so your review is completely off the mark! You booked the room through a 3rd party website and the terms and conditions clearly state that a deposit is required. This is standard procedure when booking through that website. It is always better for the customer to book directly with the hotel. Wishing you the best for 2020! Kind regards, Brendan

This is my third stay here. The large premium suites on the third floor are extremely spacious and comfortable with a very large bed. Soundproofing is great and blocks out sound from the motorway when the balcony doors are closed. Always spotless but on this occasion there was a couple of stains on the carpet.
The extra blanket on the bed was also a little bit worn but we didn’t need to use it.

My only downside to the stay was when we went to the rooftop restaurant and asked for a table of two for brunch and they said they we’re fully booked, yet there was nobody at the three tables just inside the door. Not sure if the way they manage the bookings need to be looked but keeping some tables for walk ins might be worth looking at for residents who make a last minute decision to dine. It’s not like there’s plenty of other options around you.

Dear TA reviewer, Many thanks for taking time to review our hotel and I have passed on your comments to our accommodation manager in respect of the carpet and extra bed. We did have some teething problems with our booking system which we have rectified now. Staying guests are always welcome to dine in house and may have been a human error, this time. We hope to have you back with us again, real soon and if so, please ask for myself and I will make sure you will have a perfect table with runway views. Kind regards, Seamus O'Neill. Stayed the night before an early flight, very clean, beds comfy and the food in the restaurant was delicious and very reasonably priced for an airport hotel. The free shuttle bus service to the terminals was also excellent. Staff were great, particularly when I returned after my trip to collect my car and needed to locate a misplaced relative(!) the two ladies on the desk let me use the phone and were generally very helpful.

I recently checked into the Carlton hotel the night before catching a red eye to Germany. Red eye is the optimum term…..I didn’t sleep a wink! I used to stay in the Carlton a lot with my old job years ago and I have returned a few times over the last few years but it’s not what it used to be.

When booking the hotel I asked for a room overlooking the runway (there is no difference between those rooms and those facing the car park really) and I was told I’d have to pay a premium for the privilege. I thought that was a bit greedy, given that the rooms are exactly the same.

When we checked in, the staff didn’t present very professionally. I worked in the hospitality sector for years so maybe I’m more tuned into these things but some of the staff were not very well groomed and just didn’t present well.

I asked about lunch and the receptionist sent us up to the rooftop bar….but when we got there we were sent back down to the bar just off reception. The manager who was on duty in the bar seemed less than impressed that we had stopped in and he kind of “processed” us rather than providing any kind of hospitality.

For dinner then we went to the rooftop terrace. I must say I really liked it! It was quite cool having dinner and drinks overlooking the airport’s runway. The food was lovely, there was a good selection of cocktails and the wine was good. There was also outdoor heaters so we were nice and warm. The only developmental advice I would give would be that we were put at the very end of the terrace and were kind of forgotten about by the staff. We had to get up once or twice to ask someone to come down. But that’s only a small thing, overall I enjoyed the dinner.

I mentioned earlier I didn’t get a wink of sleep. The hotel has put a ground floor outdoor terrace at the main bar. This bar was under a vast amount of bedrooms in the hotel and adjacent to ours. The noise coming from the terrace was outrageous. In a hotel catering for passengers trying to sleep before catching an early flight, having a bar terrace under bedrooms is short sighted and unacceptable. The people in the bar were drunk, shouting, singing and whistling until all hours of the night. We called reception (as did others who we met checking out) to quieten them down and nothing was done.

In all transparency I did get a call from the hotel later in the afternoon offering me a refund, which I accepted but if I was catching an early flight I would consider other options as we were exhausted on the first day of our trip.

Yes you can. There is a walking path and cyclepath all along the Swords Road that leads to the airport. There is also an Airport Parking bus stop less than 200m from the pub.

My friend Jacqui and I were staying in the Carlton Hotel on 16 December on a Cross Border Operation and stayed there for convenience. We asked a lot of questions reference getting to the SSC Clinic, which is about 10 minutes away - there is a shuttle which goes every half hour and is reliable but because our appointment was early, the person who drove us down took us there as a convenience. The hotel was lovely and delightful staff. Because our operation was early, we couldn't have breakfast so asked the previous night and were told there would be no problem whatsoever. Having said that and next morning what a difference in staff, frosty and would not consider us having a takeaway breakfast - just floored us completely, the manager was so rude to us (completely ignorant) - this does not take away from the hotel, it is a lovely hotel to stay in but just bear this in mind if staying over for a Cross Border Operation in relation to the SSC Clinic - hope the Manager reads this and is ashamed of herself for her rudeness.
