We are a family of 5, kids aged 9, 12 and 13 and we all had a fantastic week at Borda de Ritort. The kids can't wait to go back and we hope to next year. David and his team couldn't have been more helpful, arranging activities and advising us on places to visit. We did white water rafting, climbing, archery, horse riding, canyoning and David took us on an amazing jeep drive through the Pyrenees National Park. The food was brilliant and the grounds beautiful. The rooms were basic with bunk beds and a shared bathroom but perfectly good and all very good value. Would definitely recommend.

We are a family of 6, with 4 kids from 5 to 12, we all of us have a amazing time at the Borda de Retort las summer. We were there for 1 week beginning of August, combining hiking, rafting, horse ridding or just swimming pool and relaxing time. The best point is the holydays can be adapted to every person dependings on their wishes. The place is perfect for nature holidays, and the managers of the business make your stay really enjoyable. Children meet other kids easily, and all guest like to have a chat in the evening. You also can go to many restaurants or shops in Sort down-town by foot. The owners keep special attention to all details making every place both rustic and elegant. We are looking forward to go back nect si¥ummer.

Stayed here with wife and daughter after seeing a short review in the Guardian that this was one of the top 5 places to stay in Spain for families; we had an amazing time. The whole area is stunning with amazing views down the valley. What really made the stay fantastic was the people who work at Borda who were amazingly welcoming and super helpful - every recommendation for where to hike or what to do showed amazing knowledge. We went rafting with them and horse riding next door. We ate great food every night cooked on the wood fired oven, meeting super people who were also staying there from France and Spain. This location is perfect for families or groups who want to get outdoors, meet great people, and discover a great part of Catalunya. My wife loved it and trust me, normally the idea of shared bathroom would have her screaming. probably the best holiday i have had in the last 5 years. cant wait to come back.

Borda de Ritort is the perfect place to stay in the Pyrenees. It is both rustic and elegant at the same time. Beautiful rooms, each one different and impeccably clean. The service is amazing. A family business, the owner is ever-present, caring for his guests and the quality of the accommodations and meals he offers his guests, who are treated like family. Bravo!

I chose this accommodation because it offered packages that included activities. The house - a restored hut - is very beautiful and has a large green area and a splendid pool.
The attention of both the managers -David and Gilbert- and the girls' team is optimal: kindness, sympathy and great professionalism.
We enjoyed the breakfasts -with excellent local products- and the dinners, with a variety of very interesting and well prepared options.
The room was simple but comfortable. The showers are in a common area, although each room has its own.
The organization and development of the activities was impeccable, always under the supervision of monitors with great empathy and professionalism.
It is a place to consider in any visit to the Pallars.

We stayed here for five nights as part of a week in the mountains. And a had a great time.

The building is a converted barn, very beautiful on the outside and gorgeous grounds, but very basic inside. NO room has en suite - but that didn't present us really with any problems. The rooms are very basic. We three had two double bunks - very much like a dormitory. The windows in our second floor room (which would have been in the barn's rafters) were at roof level or at floor level and so no views out. So not really conducive to hanging out, really only suitable for sleeping. It was a little disappointing when we arrived, but in the end it was not really a problem since the public spaces were plentiful for the hotel and often had the garden or the lounge to ourselves. And the idea of the place is activities!

Breakfast each day was a choice of sausages and a cheese served on the table with bread, juice, some cereals and eggs. Plenty and good quality.

Dinner menu varied every night with a choice of three starters and three mains. All basic but generally cooked very well indeed. A 500 ml jug of local "home made" wine was placed on the table.

We wanted to do some activities which the hotel organized for us. The website offers some "packages" but we had a good exchange with email before arriving and had something bespoke.

Canyoning: nice half day trip with two team members from the hotel. We were all beginners and had a great time. They have their own gear here and vehicles.
4x4: David (one of the owners/managers) took us up and around the nearby mountains on tracks suitable really only for proper off-road vehicles. There were some ordinary cars on the road, but I wouldn't have dared it. Went as high as 2100 and saw loads of animals (some farmed: summer pasture land for cows, sheep and horses but also vultures and other birds of prey). Great views and some history too (disused ski areas and routes for refugees from persecution - Spanish civil war into France; Second world war - from Occupied France)
Rafting: again their own gear and a pleasant trip down the local river with many rapids (just right for beginners)
Riding: next door is a small stable - don't think they are related but a discount for guests is offered. One hour trip round some local tracks. Great for beginners. They tried to get us trotting but really it was just of course follow the leader.

Table tennis, badmington, boules, golf range, loads and loads of things to do.

Family run and really really friendly. Thoroughly recommended. But you do need to be happy with sharing bathrooms (like a toilet block at a campsite but indoors!) and the basic nature of the rooms.

we were 2 families, stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the beautiful grounds, including the pool, badminton court and green open surroundings.
We went hiking and rafting, this area has a lot of beautiful nature to explore, and activities to offer.
The place is very clean, and the Staff was very nice and helpful. Kids were not so happy with the shower... you also need to remember to bring your own towels.
Staying in August, rooms get hot during the day, but we were outdoors anyway most of the time.
I would love to come back again in the future.

Great place for a family stay if you are familiar with family rooms in youth hostels. Bunk beds etc & noise at night after dinner finishes (11pm) is unfortunately very loud ( many families up and down communal wooden stairs to bathrooms etc until at least 12 midnight...) If I had read the reviews I perhaps would have realised the above prior to booking and managed my own expectations - as in this is not a 'traditional' hotel. Grounds are superb, guests mainly non English which was also great as food mainly local etc. The town of Sort is functional - as in it provides accommodation, some shops, bars and of course sports / white water companies etc. however ... if you go literally 10-12 miles further in you will find all the above in far more picturesque surroundings .... As for Borda it was great for a few nights - if you're into real budget stays that are clean, functional and cultural it ticks the box completely. Thanks to all staff -- especially the Romanian lady whose translation was exceptional.

The place is wonderful, quiet with a beautiful landscape...with lots of activities for children, farm, bikes, swimming pool, soccer, ping pong.
Ideal for doing activities on the river that you can hire directly with the experience packs on your website. Also very close to excursions to do with the family such as the park of aiguestortes or The station of baqueira/beret in beautiful chairlifts in summer also and how to get to know Viella. Sort beautiful also walk through the old town and buy in one of its butchers, pastries....typical producer of the area as els embutits.
The spectacular treatment David super attentive in everything receiving us, saying goodbye and during our stay with family with the children. In addition a fantastic and friendly team Rosendo and Carlota in kitchen and catering and cleaning and the super friendly Vinyet and Aran (like the Valley) that made our breakfasts/lunch a joy.

We'll be back for sure.
