We stayed for five nights in Banyan, Shinagawa and had a very good experience. Our rooms were clean, the staff was helpful and worked with us when we couldn't understand a few small details. The location is good , right in Shinagawa and relatively close to the station, plus the location is very quiet which we appreciated. We have already suggested out friends stay here if they want to stay in the Shinagawa area.
Arrived on 7am flight from Malaysia hence was already at the hotel by 10am. Checked in time 3pm, so we thought of just leaving the bags at the hotel lobby while we go get some food to eat. But the receptionist took a look at out passports and saw our flight itinerary and knew that we have just arrived from far, decided to give us our room keys and let us checked in early so that we can freshen up! I have travelled many times, and this is the first time in my life to receive such kindness from a hotel. Hence i would rate this hotel the best in hospitality. . The room is kinda small, and i believe the hotel did not take into consideration of how two people to handle each of their 24inches luggage. We did not have space to open our bags and had to do it on our beds. Nevertheless the bed is comfy, despite the fact that the pillow given is very thin. The hotel walls are thin that we can hear when next door occupant came back to the room and bumped against the wall. . The rate is pretty reasonable and we got offer from agoda for about JPY ¥16,000 for 3D2N stay. The hotel offers free water, coffee and tea, available at the lobby, accessible 24hrs. Tokyo Banyan Hotel is located about 5 minutes walk to/ fro Oimachi JR station.…
I stayed one night in the Tokyo Banyan Hotel and I have nothing to complain. The hotel is affordable, my room was clean and the staff was super friendly. I have to say the bathroom is quite small but I'm not a big guy so I was fine with it. The hotel is also perfectly located near Oimachi Station, so just one station far from Shinagawa station. The Banyan is in a great and quite neighborhood which has nice restaurants, cafés and good Izakayas. The value for money of the hotel is in opinion perfect.
Spent one night at Tokyo Banyan due to the close proximity to Haneda Airport. I like small hotels which appear intimate which this one could be, however, with the unpleasant stale cigarette smoke and out of date rooms, this place needs a lick of paint as soon as possible and new furniture. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean. Bathroom clean. However, the bathroom reminds me of a cruise ship. Very small and plastic in appearance. However, be mindful that this is cheap hotel, so you pay for what you get.
We booked the Banyan for one night because we had arrived early for our tour and the designated hotel was full that night. The Banyan is in a nice neighborhood which has good restaurants and shopping and is away from the craziness of more central Tokyo locations. It was not easy to find, even for a taxi driver. Once we did find it, the young man behind the desk could not have been nicer or more helpful. The room was small and cramped, with very basic amenities. But for someone on a budget, the $79 a night rate is worth it.
