This is the first time I stay in Ikebu … The hotel about five minutes from the JR station and ten minutes from Sunshine City. There are 7-11, Family Market and Lawson nearby so it is convenient to buy different brand of snacks and sweeties. The lobby is on the 3rd floor with the laundry room. The consuming supplies like teeth brush and make-puff are also provided in a self-help corner on the lobby floor. I cannot say the room is a big one but I can open two 28-inch suitcase at the same time. Although I felt very hot at the first night, I figured out how to control the air-conditioner from the second night. The room temperature becomes suitable for sleep. The room is clean and comfortable. My mom is satisfied with the overall stay. The delighting detail is that there are some shelves above the desk. This helps keeping the desk not to be messy. However, if I am asked comment for improvement, I will say the lighting is a bit dark. Although I switch on all the lights and lamps, I think the room can still be brighter.

I would say this is the worst stay I ever had in Japan. I was going on a birthday trip with my friend, however, this hotel ruined our experience as the staff were totally disrespectful. My friend requested an extra duvet at the reception area, and the receptionist asked us to take the duvet by herself. When we asked about extra water at the last night, she said yes to us in the beginning, however, when we were about to take the lift up to our room, she stopped us and said no more water as 1 room only can have 2 bottles per day. I found it very odd as I never have a hotel asked us to take the duvet by ourself or rejected our request of water. It makes me wonder is that because my girl friend is a lesbian, thats why have an unfair treatment? We are in the morden world now and everyone should have the choices to be who they wanna be. I found these behaviors from this staff are totally not acceptable. Please treat this complain seriously.

Stayed there for a night as a short transit to country side. The room was very tiny, like most places in Tokyo. We booked a non-smoking room, but the room smelled like cigarettes. The location is a bit far from major metro lines but very close to kabuki if you like to go out at night. It is located in a less safe area (though Japan feels generally much safer than most places in the world )

Stayed here for 3 nights. Very good location, just 5 minutes walk from Ikebukuro Station. There are lots of eateries and shopping near the hotel. There is also a 7 eleven just downstairs the hotel. The hotel lobby is not on the first floor, you will need to take a lift up to 3rd floor. Downside is that the room is very small and tight like most hotels in Japan. The bed is a double bed which is smaller than a queen. There is not much space to walk, very cramped and it is hard to open more than one suitcase at a time. Nothing much to comment. It is well priced, the location is good and the room is clean.

This is our second stay at Centurion Hotel Ikebukuro. We have decided to stay here again simply because of its location (3 mins walk from Ikebukuro JR station); and its room rate (way cheaper to stay at Ikebukuro than at Shinjuku or Shibuya). It is relatively new as well. During our first stay in September last year, we were quite satisfied with the room and its size. Although it is not a huge room, we can at least get our two suitcases opened in full while there’s still some floor space to walk around. This time, however, not sure if it is that we checked-in a bit late in the evening and we got a very small tiny little room where we can’t even open any of our suitcases in full; not to mention there’s only a tiny little floor space to walk around even without opening the suitcase. To make thing more funny is that the bed headboard is wider than the bed itself and it has in fact blocked half of the corridor, thus the floor space, between the bed and the wall. And if we are not careful enough, we simply would bump into the headboard and get ourselves hurt. Not a pleasant comfortable experience at all comparing to the last time. One thing to add if you are curious about whether there’s a laundry facility. Yes, they do have a laundry room on the lobby floor and they charged separately for washing and drying the clothes; and ofcourse you will have to buy from them the washing powder (the laundry ball) if you haven’t brought yours. You can as well buy it elsewhere especially if theirs have be sold out (it happened once) and we bought it from the 7-11 convenience store downstair. O yes, this is another bonus point for having a convenience store right downstair that you don’t even have to go outdoor getting to the store to get your drinks or late night super.

Location: Ikebukuro Station. There are many different train lines in Ikebukuro Station hence it was confusing at times to navigate around. To reach the hotel from the station, follow the directions for PARCO departmental store. If you are ok with stairs, then you can just exit via the stairs. If you have elderly or children/stroller or with luggages, then go inside PARCO departmental store (B1) and navigate around to locate the lift/escalator to L1 where you will make your way to the hotel. From the point where you exit via the train gantry to the hotel, it would probably take about 10 - 15 minutes. Room: We have 3 adults. At first we booked 'Superior Queen Room (1 Queen Bed) - Extrabed is from 3rd adult'. However, past reviews from others showed this room is too small for 3 adults. Hence, we changed to our booking to 'Deluxe Twin Room (2 Double Bed) - Extrabed is from 5rd Adult'. This room has got 2 double beds and 1 sofa bed. The double bed in this room type is big enough to accommodate 2 adults. As for the sofa bed, it was a sofa bed with a thin mattress, and it was not as comfortable as compared to the double beds. In fact, you can feel the metal springs of the thin mattress which was laid over the sofa, and was quite uncomfortable. Breakfast: Breakfast is at Denny's Cafe (level 2). It is not buffet style. You have to order the breakfast set from the given menu. Please factor in at least 15 minutes for your breakfast set to be ready. This is especially important if you are catching a flight or going for a tour. Hotel vicinity: Surrounding the hotel was restaurants and some shopping stores (such as Zara), and a 7-11 right in the building. Overall: The stay was pleasant. Would most likely be booking this hotel if we are to be in Tokyo again.

I was immediately impressed with this hotel for many reasons...very kind and helpful staff, quick check-in, everything was SO clean, beds were comfy, minutes from train station, 7-eleven right outside the door was perfect for snacks/drinks, lots of places to eat and shop just steps away, nice selection of toiletries! This place is perfection!

Rooms were small like a postage stamp but they were able to fit us 3 adults in a room by adding a third bed. It was a bit on the crampy side as you could not walk across the room without hitting someone’s luggage. Even without the third extra bed, the room was already small to start with. The bathroom was also tiny, which is typical of most Japanese hotel bathrooms, yet complete down to the bath tub. They gave us only one pillow each. Be that as it may, the room was clean and was cleaned daily ( if you ask for it), sheets were clean, the air conditioner worked, the bathroom was clean, the toiletries came in huge bottles. There was a 7 -11 on the first floor, a Denny’s right next door, shopping around the hotel (even a Zara), and best of all, it was just 5 minutes away from Ikebukuro station, so convenient when you are going around exploring Tokyo. However, going up from the underground station to street level entailed climbing up a flight of stairs— something that might be difficult if you are lugging around a heavy suitcase like we were. An uber might be better instead of the trains for your arrival and departure. All in all, not bad for a hotel right in the middle of Tokyo. Just don’t expect luxuries. P.S. if you want your room tidied up for the day, put up the sign that says you want your room tidied up. If you don’t do that, they clean the bathroom and leave everything else as is, where is.

Before we went to Tokyo, I did my research on Centurion Hotel Ikebukuro. Once we got there, we exactly got what we expected and payed for. The staffs of this hotel are very friendly. They exert all effort to help you out even with their limited English language skills. Location is also perfect. It’s just ~5 minutes walk from the East Exit of JR station, which connects you to the Yamanote line. The hotel is also just ~10-15 minute walk from Sunshine City Mall, which is a perfect place to spend and optimize your time if you arrive at the hotel pass noon. The room is very clean and so is the bathroom. The size is just big enough for a couple of guest with minimal luggage. Wifi is OK, although I encountered a number of disconnection. Seven Eleven and Denny’s is on the same building so it’s very convenient to buy food and drinks during at night. For improvements, I wish the management would consider having cable channels that are in English. The elevator also always stops on the lobby floor, which can be a bit time consuming for those guests that just wants to go directly to their room or the lobby. Hopefully, the management consider removing this elevator feature. Over-all, our stay at Centurion Hotel-Ikebukuro is very memorable and I look forward of coming back to this hotel on our future visits.
