I stayed at this hotel at the end of March 2023 and had an excellent stay. The location of the hotel is very convenient for us because it is connect to the Shinagawa train station via a short covered skyway. Shinagawa can be easily reached via train from NRT or HND airports. I have stayed at this hotel many times. Every time I have been treated very well. All the staff I have encountered were very courteous and professional. Room was very clean and comfortable with a very nice view of the surround area. There is a 7-11 store near the entry to the hotel thus very convenient if I want to buy drinking water or Japanese snacks. The breakfast buffet is very high quality and very delicious.

I had such a nice stay and can not wait to go back again

Very kind people, unbelievable service, great rooms and restaurants. Good taste on the selection of furniture, colors and aromas
Also, the location is great, conveniently located by the Shinagawa station. Concierge explains how to make reservations and navigate the area

We chose this hotel as we had an overnight layover in Tokyo from Malaysia. My husband and I travel to Japan very frequently and have tried many different hotels in Tokyo. Among all the hotels we have stayed, the service at The Strings was truly exceptional. We arrived at the hotel after 10:30 PM and were quite hungry. I asked the front desk if they could recommend a good sushi restaurant nearby. She asked about our preference (casual vs formal, budget vs fine dining, etc.) and relayed my answers to a concierge. In 3 min, everything was all set. they gave me a walking map to the restaurant and told me they made a reservation for us. My husband loved the small intimate sushi restaurant, Nigiriya, and we both devoured fresh Edomae sushi with a friendly chef who used to live in New York. When I came back from the dinner, I found a small paper bag in our room. It had a roll of packing tape, a pair of scissors, and a mailing label. I was so pleasantly surprised! Earlier, I mentioned to the front desk I would need to ship a small gift package to someone in Japan. She anticipated my need ahead of time and took care of it. Shipping was handled by the hotel next morning very quickly. I noticed that the package tracking number was included in the hotel receipt! Once again, they took care of things without being asked. The room is spacious and stylishly decorated. The price is not a bargain, but we felt it was well worth it. We wished we could have stayed longer. Our minor disappointments were the size of the gym and a lack of clear direction from Shinagawa station to the hotel on their website. The hotel was right next to the train station, but we could not find the entrance easily as it was hidden and there was no signage at the station exit. We went to the information desk at the train station, but he wasn't sure where it was! (he said the hotel must be somewhere near the south exit) I think it will be helpful if the hotel provides a more detailed direction in the hotel website.

We had a great experience at The Strings. The service provided by the staff was fabulous. Their English skills were very good. The rooms were nice, bed comfortable, and the food good. The location was very near the train and limousine bus stops so getting around was very easy. We highly recommend this property.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. The staff was incredibly kind and hospitable from the very first day. They went out of their way to help me. I was impressed!

The room itself was a large room for anywhere in the world, much less Tokyo and the view of the city from the window was incredible. The location couldn’t have been better - stepped onto the Narita express at the airport and stepped off at Shenagawa station and the hotel was right there! Great way to use my Japan rail pass and save a ton of money on a taxi!

The in room dining menu was also really delicious. But what impressed me most, besides the comfort and peacefulness of the room was the staff. I split my time at the hotel into two segments, traveling to another area of Japan in between. They held my oversized baggage for me there and when I returned to the hotel, the bag was already brought up to welcome me in my new room! I was wowed, because I was expecting to have to haul it up myself! Of course, they did it out of kindness and not expecting a tip! I love this hotel and hope to go back soon!

Several times in Tokyo, and I have finally found a favorite hotel. From the location (steps away from Shinagawa station, with access to both Tokyo airports, the Shinkansen and the Tokyo Metro system), to the beautiful lobby and atrium, to encountering some of the most attentive staff, to entering a well decorated, spacious room, this hotel is a must-visit recommendation in Tokyo. The price is high, but well worth it.
Only one drawback: if your room faces the station, it can be a little noisy. Better use ear plugs.

Location – The property is directly connected to the Shinagawa Station (East Tower) which gives you sheltered access to the vast Tokyo metro system as well as the Shinkansen.

Room – The 30SqM space opens up to a traditionally modern space which is more than adequate for 1pax. Upon entrance, the closet space is to the immediate left of the walkway and comes with the quintessential slippers, bathrobes, etc. The sofa + day couch area was my dining area cum chill out spot which could also double up as the work desk is where the charging ports are available.

Housekeeping was dutiful and left a cute touch of a chocolate square together with a printed weather forecast for the next day which was useful for making plans. On my arrival night, I also received a separate box of chocolates accompanied by a note from the Director of Rooms – not sure if it was a Diamond / Ambassador thingy?

Breakfast – Served at Melodia Italian Grill from 6:30am-11:00am, I was really happy with what I saw! The breakfast scene was peaceful most times during my stay when I went at 630am-7am and there were plenty seats available for solos, couples, or groups. Don’t come too early though as they are quite strict with the 6:30am start time – I saw people being turned away at the 6:27am mark after being declined when I arrived at 6:25am.

Located near Shinagawa station connected by a boardwalk, the hotel is located inside the upper floors of the Shinagawa East One Tower, an office building. Reception is located on 26th floor.

My room is of reasonable size, and the bathroom is quite nice with both bathtub and shower, though the wash basin is a bit cramp. The writing table is of a small size, barely enough to write something. The beds are, however, quite comfy and firm enough for me. The light inside the room is on the dark side, so you will need reading light to read something.

We had our breakfast at the lobby on the reception level. The restaurant has such a high ceiling as high as the building. Quite a big selection of choices, western and Japanese. The omelette station staff were working very hard to fry different forms of eggs.

Shinagawa is a very convenient stop where accessing to Haneda airport is convenient and fast. Though the hotel is located overlooking the subway tracks, there was no noise at the night time.

It is next to the shinagawa JR station! Easy to go to popular places like Ginza, Harijuku, Shibuya, Akihabara Electric Town, the Narita Airport (by JR Express) and very close to Haneda Airport.
There are many cafes for breakfast. City Cafes, Attres, Dean and Ducan. High quality bakery and coffee. They also have a Daido rainow bus that go directly to Gundam in Diver city, Team Lab.
The adjacent East Tower has many choices of food and many other restaurants within 5/10 minutes across the pedestrian bridge.

The concierge is extremely helpful! They summarized the booking of the restaurants for me and organized the details with the map and directions.
Everything day, they provide the weather forecast. The room is spacious which is not typical in Japan.
The staff is friendly, polite and helpful! I love the latte, bakery and japanese side dishes in their buffet breakfast! The pillow and the bed is really comfortable!
Their brand of shampoo, body lotion , bath gel is my favorite brand!

This hotel is in the southern part of Tokyo but it is located next to the Shinagawa Train Terminal. The location made it very convenient to get trains to Kamakura and Kyoto.
It was also very easy to take the trains to sites within Tokyo proper. The hotel was comfortable and the staff was very helpful. The view from the room at night was wonderful with all the lights from the city.
