Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo is located uptown in Mejiro. While it is in the heart of Tokyo, the hotel is surrounded by our spacious scenic green garden, which gives the hotel an aura of quiet serenity. The property consists of three buildings: the hotel, the plaza and the tower; and a traditional-style Japanese garden. The hotel has 260 rooms, 36 banquet halls, 5 wedding facilities and 12 restaurants. The garden lets our guests experience the four seasons through its changing colors: camellias bloom in the winter, cherry trees bloom in the spring, fireflies fill the garden in the summer and the leaves change colors in the autumn. Please come and see why so many of our guests are awed by the changes of the seasons in the garden.

So I was here on a short business trip . Hotel was nice , rooms reasonable size and well appointed in slightly old fashioned style. Staff is amazing and only too happy to help with anything you need in all areas of the hotel. Main downside for a tourist is this hotels location which is not close to any major centre. It’s a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest subway station that is not on a convenient line so going to any major location requires transfer(s). As such you might find taxis as easier but more expensive transport alternative. Otherwise a very pleasant stay !!

Dear FryMB Sama, Thank you for using our hotel on your business trip and for giving your opinion on this site. We were flattered to read that you were very satisfied with our hotel and appreciated the efforts of the entire staff. We are indeed in a residential area, but in central Tokyo. Depending on your destination, the Yurakucho subway line can actually be convenient. It brings you straight to the Ginza area, the old fish market and to Ikebukuro which is the nearest major commercial district. Besides taxis, there are also buses (from our compound straight to Shinjuku or Ueno). We hope that next time we can explain all the transportation options and interesting tourist spots near the hotel better. Thank you once again! With warm regards, Guest Relations

My family and I stayed here during the last leg of our vacation to Japan. I am so glad we did. This place oozes old school elegance. The hotel, rooms and grounds are gorgeous. Their attention to detail is spot on. From the remote blackout curtains to the nicest turndown service we have ever experienced, nothing was missed. The rooms are comfortable and elegant. The bathrooms are like mini spas. The garden is magic.

The only downfall is the location. It is a bit removed from the action of Tokyo so getting around took a bit longer than we were used to. The area surrounding the hotel is mostly residential, so you can't just walk out of the hotel and easily find restaurants. The restaurants in the hotel are pricy, so being so far removed from the center of Tokyo, when it came time to eat, was a little annoying.

Dear PitstburghAndi Sama, Thank you for staying with us. We are glad that you enjoyed our facilities and service. We are indeed located in a residential area. However, our concierges would like to recommend Kagurazaka for your next visit. Kagurazaka is a lovely local neighborhood just a short taxi ride away. The area is famous for restaurants, from simple noodles to 3-star Michelin establishments. Besides that, the atmosphere is very relaxed and interesting. We hope to see you again! With warm regards, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo

Wow! Hard to believe that this oasis exists in the middle of the largest city in the world. Acres and acres of perfectly manicured gardens with an incredible number of camellia varieties (“Chin" means camellia and "zanso" small mountain and Chinzanso Hotel Garden is truly is a small mountain covered with hundreds of specimen variety camellias plus an ancient pagoda relocated from Hiroshima and beautiful outbuilding restaurants. This peaceful, private garden is open only to hotel guests to wander with twice-hourly mist shows. Be sure to wander several occasions, morning, mid day, twilight and evening.
The staff is extraordinarily attentive, guests feel truly welcomed and special. My grandsons were each give a gift when they arrived, adorable little stuffed dogs, and they had the crib set up fro the baby with a hamper of baby supplies and another stuffed toy.
The view of the Tokyo skyline are incredible, you could even see Skytree from our window.
The Spa area is lovely for a small fee. Steam bath, sauna, indoor and outdoor onsen and swimming pool included. There is even a breakfast bar for a very small fee in the spa.
Restaurants were amazing and a reasonable price.
Location is in a small, quiet residential area bit only a few minute taxi ride from Shinjuku, Tokyo and the Imperial Palace. Taxis are always out from ready to go (even if you forget to book one for the airport😳) . Conbinis are within walking distance. Next door to Eisie Bunko Museum.

Dear Ms. Melissa, Thank you very much for your amazing review. Another thank you for staying with us and we hope that you and your family had a safe trip home. It is really nice to read that you appreciated our gardens, facilities and the staff’s atmosphere. Your comment about the Camellias in the garden was so adequate and it is indeed lovely to take a refreshing walk where it is not too crowded in the heart of Tokyo. It will be our pleasure to see you back again with your 3 beautiful grandsons (Hope they are enjoying the stuffed dog the iconic Japanese dog breed “Shibainu”!). Everybody will always be here to welcome you. Thanks again for your review, and all the best, and also to the other family members. Warm regards, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo

The hotel is well known in Tokyo and at times you can find a decent price. We stayed in a city view room with a king bed. The snacks they provided daily were a nice touch as well as chocolates at night.

The hotel shuttle operates weekends but the 61 bus is at the backdoor and makes things very convenient for taking the rail. Maybe staying at Shibuya would have given us more time for other things but the hotel has many amenities including an onsen which we really enjoyed. I wish we has time to explore the camelia garden which also has a winter light show.

Beautiful old world Japanese hotel with traditional rooms and amazing service.

The rooms are really spacious in Japanese standards, the curtains are floral which is a little unusual (but they open and close with a press of a button) and the furniture dark wood and the big bed very comfortable. Big spacious cupboards and great bathroom too. Beautiful amenities replenished daily. Loved the turn down service at night with the little chocolates left by the bedside.
A lovely treat.

The gardens are just spectacular with a pond, a red bridge and a pagoda. Great for a stroll & taking photos. Many brides come there for wedding photos. The BEST part of the hotel is the impeccable service.

I was a tour leader with 16 ladies and we stayed for 4 nights and everyone was impressed. The reception was helpful and efficient and the concierge desk was just so amazing giving us recommendations and making dinner reservations on our behalf. I’m particular I need to mention Andre Sol who really went beyond the call of duty every day for me. Also Akiho Hitoshi was very kind and helpful on numerous occasions. The ladies at the desk also were amazing. ( sorry I didn’t catch their names).

Only a couple of issues;
1. The hotel is quite a distance from Shinjuku and other entertainment and interesting districts so we used taxis very often. There is a station not too far away as well which I used once.
2. The breakfast room isn’t big enough. Sometimes there is a wait for breakfast which isn’t good when in a hurry to meet the group for our daily tour. They offered a buffet in one of the banquet rooms downstairs but they was t very amazing for a hotel of that standard. But the service is good everywhere. I didn’t try the other restaurants in the hotel.

Dear Zeeva San, Thank you for taking the nice Australian Ladies to our hotel! It was a real pleasure seeing you going around happily with the group and serving you all in the best possible way. My apologies for the wait that occurred at breakfast. Due to high occupancy, we arranged a buffet, but the restaurant was still busy. Thank you also for your nice comments. Especially Akiho Hitoshi was glad to read them and inspired him to study English even harder! I do hope we can welcome you back more than once again with another fun group! In the meantime, all the best! With warm regards from Hitoshi and myself! Andre

My family and I stayed six days at the hotel Chinzanso. I faced the challenge of finding a hotel for five people near the University of Tokyo. The options were limited. For example, we would have needed three rooms at the Tokyo Dome hotel that were expensive and ordinary. The Hotel Chinzanso had suites, so we could do one normal room for two and one suite for three. Combined with their get one night free for each two nights stay, the hotel was LESS expensive (an astounding outcome given the quality of the Chinzanso). For that price, we were able to enjoy their beautiful Japanese garden, which we visited every day (the regular misty cloud generation is something to look forward to). The dining options were excellent and reasonably price. Even by Tokyo standards, the service was amazing. Housekeeping was impeccable. We were on upper story rooms and enjoyed great views. While the hotel is not located in an interesting neighborhood, there is a bus stop in front and a subway station less than ten minutes away. Taxis are always waiting. We had no difficulty visiting anywhere we wished within 30 minutes. The hotel does have a dated, 1980's look to it, but after you have been there for more than a day, that becomes part of the charm. I suspect that the dated look is why it is not twice as expensive. Tokyo is a tiring city, the Hotel Chinzanso is a great place to come home to. We were so grateful we found it.

Dear dallasdrc and Family, Thank you for choosing our hotel for six days. Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo is indeed a special place, completely different from other luxury hotels in town. It is in a quiet and peaceful residential area in central Tokyo so, as you mentioned, it is easy to get around by subway or taxi. The interior is rather classic with marble floors and wooded panels, decorated with Asian antiques which is also rare as most hotels have a more modern design. We are also grateful that you found us and hope that we may welcome you back many more times. In the meantime, all the best and warm regards! Guest Relations, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo

Hotel Chinzanso.....Tokyo my new home away from home in Tokyo. Also my new place to switch from what had become indifferent and non personalized service of the Four Seasons brand in the post COVID. I have to say while I had amazing experiences at the FS properties from 2004 through COVID and experienced personalized service, most of the old management is gone and was replaced by assembly line hoteliers with goos but indifferent service. If local non tourist luxury for the discriminating traveler at a gem renowned hotel that once upon a time used to be the Fourth Seasons, if personal service where everyone knows who you are and greets you as family, if unsurpassed rooms with views of an historic Japanese garden, delicious food and amazing concierge service is what you are looking for then this hotel is for you. If hype, tourist status and commonality in a place that you are nobody special and no-one cares to acknowledge you because you are not an Arab Sheik or a Los Angeles celebrity, is what you are looking for then go to the Four Seasons. I have to say everything was impressive about the Chinzanso hotel. The amenities, the welcoming, the gardens, the rooms, the food (try the Japanese restaurant in the garden, Ryiteri Kinsui as well as the one inside the hotel). A big thank you to Andre Sol manager of Guest services and Kumiko Ikehara at the concierge desk who made us feel at home before we even arrived. From detailed planning of our arrival at Haneda to my final send off home (which included a debacle fright back to Tokyo from Nagasaki) service is just superb. The room we stayed in was a dream. Overlooking the Japanese gardens and all the sights of young couples getting married in traditional Japanese festive attire and dressing this was a cultural delight. It was very instructive as well to learn more of the Japanese culture. The teatime and lobby services are also unsurpassed as were the off premises restaurant recommendations either for high end and no frills. Because my wife is from Japan and lived in Tokyo we did not need a guide so one out of the hotel, with care and driver we made our own itinerary. If you traveled the world and stayed at high end hotels and have discerning (not flashy) test, do stay at this hotel. It changed my mind and made me rethink the properties I will be staying on from now forward.

This hotel is so HUGE and I can only describe it as opulent. The staff members were so helpful and courteous. They cleaned our room every day and even did more cleaning a second time during the turndown service in the evening. They don’t skimp on shampoo, soap, coffee, etc like some other hotels. And we absolutely loved the gardens behind the hotel. The whole stay was a magical experience!

very comfortable hotel with a stunning garden which is certainly one of the highlights. Some very positive recommendations:
1/ rooms are spacious and beds very comfortable...nice bath amenities, great water pressure and water heat in the shower. Bathrooms are spacious and nicely appointed. 2/convenient if you don't mind the walk to Waseda stations nearby 3/ bar food in lounge is fair/good, not outstanding, 4/ drinks in the bar are overpriced 5/ nicely appointed gym with very nice staff, but it is VERY disappointing that hotel guests have to pay extra to use the swimming pool. When we were there it seemed only elderly guests/spa patrons used it which was disappointing. 6/concierge services are WONDERFUL! Here a special "THANK YOU" to Mimi Katsumoto-san (Mimi) and her crew who were extremely helpful

My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights. What a wonderful amazing place. Firstly the gardens surrounding the hotel are simply stunning , 10 out of 10. I dont think words and photos do the gardens justice. Simply stunning. The hotel is also amazing. So big, plenty of restaurant and bar choices. We had a few meals here and the food was amazing. Our room was so great, big and we had a wonderful city view. The bathroom was really big and everything you would need was supplied. 3 train stations in walking distance, also a bus stop out the front we used most days. And a big shout out to the wonderful amazing staff who were ALL so happy, friendly, helpful and made our stay so great.

Thank you for your inquiry. Our hotel is located near Edogawabashi station on the Yurakucho subway line. This line brings you straight to the Ginza area in about 15 minutes. Ginza is famous for shopping and close to Tokyo station. You can also get directly to Ikebukuro (less than 10 minutes), a major commercial district and the old fish market (Tsukiji - in about 20 minutes). For Shinjuku you would have to change to a different subway line, but we have a bus stop in front of the hotel straight to Shinjuku (or Ueno where the museums are). The concierge in the hotel can give you the quickest and easiest transportation options once you are here - also for transportation from and to airports. Please keep in mind that we are in central Tokyo but in a residential area, surrounded by our garden and more greens - it takes about 10 minutes to the subway station. We hope this answers your question but feel free to contact us. It would be nice to welcome you here in a quiet green oasis in the metropolis. With warm regards, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo!

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing our hotel. You actually choose one of the best hotels in terms of jogging courses. We are located in a very green residential neighborhood in central Tokyo. Right behind our garden there is a river. This river (Kanda river) is a popular route for jogging, whether it is 5, 10 or more kilometers. You can run together with many other local runners. In your room you will find a jogging map or the concierge can give you the details upon arrival. Looking forward to your visit! Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo

Dear Wienerwoman Sama, Thank you for your interest in our hotel. Guests can always leave their luggage with us - even for longer than a few hours. Our check-out time is indeed 12:00. Depending on the occupancy and next guests, we may sometimes extend the check-out time a few hours. We cannot guarantee a complimentary late check-out of 15:00 - it really depends. If you want to secure your room until 15:00, we charge 30% of our regular (not discounted) rates. It may be the best to ask when you are here, and if it is not possible you can always enjoy a restaurant, garden or the neighborhood. Please contact us in case you have more questions. With warm regards from Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo!

Dear Georgette, Thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay. The easiest way to get to our hotel is by means of the Airport Limousine Bus. The bus leaves right in front of the arrival lobby. Tickets can be bought upon arrival at the counter in the arrival lobby. There are buses bringing you to Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, departing at 15:55, 16:55, 17:55 (depending on the arrival terminal about 5 minutes later, resp. 16:00, 16:05 & 16:10 for the 15:55 bus). The 15:55 bus will arrive at approx. 18:40 at our hotel. It akes a bit of time, but it is the easiest. Otherwise, the Skyliner is another option to Nippori station and then a 20 minute taxi to our hotel. If you want to use your rail pass, you can only use the Narita Express to Tokyo or Ikebukuro station and then a taxi to our hotel (from Ikebukuro station about 10 minutes). We are looking forward to welcoming you and your children. Our hotel is really nice for little kids as we are in a quiet green and safe area and have a playground next to our compound as well. With warm regards, Andre (Guest Services)
