We went to Palmera beach on the 29th April, when we booked our holiday they said that there wasn’t a transfer but the hotel was only about 40mins away! We got into Alicante airport around 9.40am, asked a taxi man how much it would be down to Orihuela, he said about 70euros, on a budget we thought Ouch! So we asked in the tourist information and she gave us some bus details, she was very help full. We caught the C-6 bus into Alicante town and each bus fair was only 1.50euros. He dropped us off in the middle of town and chucked us off, we stood there not knowing where to go or how far away we was from our hotel, around the corner we found a tourist information point, by this time it was about 10.30am. She directed us to the main bus station where there were loads of different help desk. It was lucky I had my hotel letter with the address and I just pointed to it, as my Spanish is very poor. He pointed to the board saying how much it was, it was far down the list so looked like there was a way to go. It cost 4.70euros each. We was on the bus until 1oclock, so it’s a good 2 and a half hours from main town Alicante on the bus. We kept pointing to the paper in front of the bus man he kept saying ‘mas’ with means more, we must have to so annoyed with us! He dropped us off on a round about, 4 roads leading to motor ways and 1 leading down to the beach! In the pictures we saw it was on the beach front so we walked down, bumped into some work men and ask where the hotel was, they said it was about a mile and a half down the road, at 1oclock in the after in England clothes and suitcases it was very hot, so hot that our plastic wheels melted from our suitcase and we had to just drag it along the floor!
Finally at the hotel at 1.30pm so it only took us 4hours to get there!!!
The reception was very clean, was directed to our room, it was clean and tidy! The pool area was empty with only about 6 beds full, and the pool was freezing, so cold you couldn’t really swim in it for to long. Wondered down to the nearest shops was about a mile and took a good 15-20mins. There are a few bars and restaurants there. We ate in the hotel restaurant the first day not knowing how much it was, it turned out to be 14euros each, and was terrible, just awful fatty foods and was in total shock at the bill would have walked out if it wasn’t our hotel! So avoid to the max!
Down the road there was a mega friendly English bar called JPs, so helpful, friendly and hold some really good fun evenings, we went down every morning for breakfast to find out what to do that day. There wasn’t anything in the area you had to catch a taxi everywhere, so on our last 3days we rented a car, but do not go out without a map! We found a really fabulous Chinese restaurant in Torre, only 9euros all you can eat, and make your own dishes it was amazing we went back a few times! In a car was only about 5mins, but a good 50min walk! But defiantly worth the time to go there.
We went into Cadaroy, a good 40min walk, but it was a lovely walk, along the beach and around the harbor, we went a few times it’s a nice strips of bars and restaurants. We went into bushwhackers which is really Australian bases and really good food with massive portions. Also sunrise which is excellent for fine food and a reasonable cost we went there a few times and was more then happy every time, defiantly a recommendation. We watched Stevey s in Flammingos, if you don’t like drag, still go it was a funny night he was really good. Go to Orihuela but stay somewhere more with in town or rent a car for the whole duration because its not worth getting stuck in the middle of no where, its not worth it! I woud not go back to Palmera beach as of its location!

We stayed 3 nights at the Palmera beach apartments (slightly away from the Hotel itself for my pal’s stag doo and found the whole stay fantastic. Our apartments were right on the seafront with an absolutely wonderful view of the beach etc. The apartments were literally a 1 minute walk from the small strip where there was a great mixture of bars, restaurants and late night spots which catered well for a large group of men such as we were. The apartments were decent sized 2 bedroom affairs with a double main bedroom with a small balcony overlooking the beach at the front and a good sized twin at the rear. In-between was a very small bathroom. Downstairs was a toilet, a small kitchen and a very small courtyard which never once got the sun. There was however a small patio at the front of the apartment with chairs and table to sit out inside. The only issue was that the stairs (which were circular) were very dangerous, steep and small so difficult to safely use when sober!!! IMHO these all need changing as it is an accident waiting to happen. There was ample bedding for all the beds for our stay and plenty of towels for 3 men to use in our stay.
Like other apartments in the area and in Spain in general, these had nothing out of the ordinary but they did have was a lovely welcoming feel, a great location and the staff had gave us everything we needed for the whole stay which really made our stay easy.
I would use the apartments again if I stayed at Mil Palmeras but the village itself isn't going to be hardcore enough for some stag doos. For us however it was excellent indeed...

Lovely hotel but out on a limb . Apartment clean and spacious with lovely private balcony . Lovely restaurant with excellent breakfast facilities . Ten minutes walk to nearest super market and restaurants . On the bad side room wall very thin you can hear you neighbours every move . TV only has 1 English chanel Sky news ( Take a radio ).
All in all we had a very lovely stay there .

Peak season, last minute booking. Hired car with SAT NAV - so travel no problem. Pool was inviting with plenty of loungers in shade or full sun. Short walk left or right to beaches. JP's in town was very friendly, we found that the Spanish bars either totally ignored you or served all the locals/spanish customers first. Shopping very resonable. Love this part of Spain.

We needed a place to stay for one night, we checked in late and the bar were very accommodating and allowed us to be served food and drink. The room was clean and we had a lovely sea view.

The reception staff were very nice and assisted us with a map and useful numbers.

It's very close to the beach which looked lovely

Just had two weeks here. There was very few English in hotel and in the resort. It was mainly Germans. Also this hotel had a lot of 18/30 in which was very loud early in the morning 5/6 am. The hotel is modern and in a good location. The food was eat able but there was no choice at all. Only one choice of meat/ fish on grill. It had a bath size swimming pool. And garden with sun beds on had a lot of wasps. The beach near hotel was small and shingle also had to pay 10 Euro for sunbeds everywhere in the resort. Also no live music anywhere. On a good note Star beach is amazing and there is some nice bars on sea front
We are a English couple aged 50

I recently stayed at this hotel for a week with my Mother and 3 sisters (Ages: 21, 17, 9). We had a really lovely time here. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was perfect for us, very clean, huge balcony, good air con. The pool area was lovely! Gorgeous pool with plenty of sun loungers.
Beach was directly behind the hotel which was perfect! Although the only way down to the beach was a huuuge set of steps which is very exhausting especially on the way back up... not ideal for people with poor mobility.
The closest supermarket was a 15 minute walk away, which was longer than we expected! This is also where the nearest restaurants and bars are. The hotel itself is in a very quiet area, a bit out of the way! There is not much going on.
We chose the self-catering option, which was fine. We chose to eat at the hotel restaurant one day for lunch. It was 90% seafood which I personally loved however my mum has a huge allergy to seafood so she was quite on edge. Especially because there were no labels on the buffet at all.
There was constant entertainment for children throughout the days and evenings. 2 members of staff would play pool games in the day then put on a show in the evening, it was very lovely to see! However, the entertainers spoke Spanish as all of the other children were Spanish. My younger sister felt left out at times as she was too shy to join in and scared that she wouldn't understand the game dues to the language barrier. Towards the end of the week, the entertainers realised that my sister did not speak spanish and they began to speak to her in english, explaining the rules of the games. They also learned her name and really made her feel included which was so so lovely. They were fantastic at their job and were so great with all the children.
Overall, our stay at the Palmera Beach Hotel was great and just what we needed. However, if you are looking for somewhere with a busy atmosphere and a lot of English tourists, this may not be the place for you!

We wanted a Spanish focussed hotel and this ticked all of the boxes. It was in a great location just 150m from a nice beach and a 15 minute (not flat) walk into town for the restaurants.
The room had two separate bedrooms which was ideal for us and our 2 boys. The room was a little tired but it was kept spotlessly clean with plenty of towels provided. It had cooking facilities, a fridge, microwave and sink.
Breakfast had pretty much everything and was pretty good overall.
The staff were always helpful and friendly and could not do enough to help. We had a couple of problems with the shutters in our room on two separate occasions and these were fixed within an hour which is outstanding in our experience.
We were surprised to find entertainment laid on occasions during the day and evening as we did not see this on any reviews. There were also quiet times. Victor, the main entertainer, was outstanding and had more energy than I have seen in someone for a long time. The entertainment and games laid on were good fun but mainly in Spanish which was fine as he would also translate for us as needed. The one big problem was that it went in until nearly midnight and if you had a pool facing room, like us, then you are unlikely to be able to sleep. We asked to move room 3 times without success. In the end we just got on with it!
Finally there was the usual problem with sun beds being reserved despite the numerous signs saying it wasn't allowed, although the times we turned up we always found something.

A party of 8 golfers booked this hotel for our visit in June. We had previously been for the past 10 years. But to our dismay the hotel has gone from excellent to awful this year. The whole place is in need of refurbishment. The staff were not interested in the clients. The breakfasts were poor; When we wanted service at the bar we could not find a member of staff to serve us. There were very few guests staying this year whereas previously the hotel was always very popular. All the original staff had disappeared and what a shame to see a place go so quickly down hill. We will not go back.
