An experience and a privilege to stay here. Gorgeous small palace, staying here is like someone letting you stay in their home.We were invited in and then left to our own devices. Breakfast appeared like magic in the morning. I had read it was cold, it’s a big old building and we stayed in January. I mentioned this to the lady prior to my visit and on arrival all the fires were roaring and the heating on. Yes the large lobby and halls were cold but the room and lounge were lovely and warm.

Magnificent experience of being able to stay in the Palauet de la Muralla.Located in the old town of the city. The house is well preserved and glad to be able to enjoy it. Very good service from the staff. The dimly lit room, I think to recreate the light they had at the time.

We absolutely loved this place! Rarely do you have the opportunity to stay in such a residence. Breakfast was excellent every morning and the staff was super helpful and friendly. The reviews that complain about it being old and not having television in the room completely mss the point of choosing to stay in a lovely piece of history instead of a generic chain motel. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived.

Beautiful manor house, very well located in the old center of Balaguer. Few rooms, ours on the 2nd floor, without access facilities for people with reduced mobility (I imagine due to permit problems or lack of space). Spacious room, with comfortable bed, bathtub and shower, hot and cold air conditioning. Breakfast, on the first floor, very correct. Ease of parking in the surroundings. The person responsible for the operation of the establishment has been helpful and friendly. Considering the price, I have found that there is a lack of complimentary water in the room, amenities in the bathroom, better closing of the windows and neglect of some towels that had a hole. Also the lack of a television in the room but it could be in line with the philosophy of the place. Despite everything, a correct option in the center of Balaguer.

This is a classic house-palace with a great athmosphere. Enormous rooms, very comfortable, big dinning room, terrace with views to the river. All together really charming. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was great, even with the limitations imposed by covid. Recommended.

Not a hotel, really a B&B, but with lots of character. An ancient home, with centuries of history. Also very comfortable. We stayed in the three bed room, and had plenty of room, a large lounge room next door to ourselves. Parking was easy in the square around the corner, we had to pay but not very much. Breakfast was great, the lady manager had only English but she made up for this with enthusiasm. We would have been happy to stay more than one night, a real experience. And great value, we booked a few moths ahead and this was a real bargain.

No better place to find a relaxing in a stunning 14th century's palace. Nice rooms and clean. Excellent service, and the atmosphere of living in a house that has an history like El Palauet brings you to peace and mindful relax. Nice books and arts.

El Palauet de la Muralla (http://elpalauetdelamuralla.com and https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casa_Tarragona_(Balaguer)) is a flabbergasting uncoventional lodging in Balaguer, close to Leida in Catalonia. It is a true 17th century palazzo in the centre of the old town, in the former Jewish quarter, imbedded in what was the former city wall. Originally a hospital, the building became later a nunnery and a nun´s school among others before becoming the residence of the Tarragona family. They have recently completely restored the building and offer now an exceptional lodging, which enables from separate booking of two double-rooms and one triple-room (each with its own full bathroom) to rental of the complete three-store house (including full kitchen, a library with incunabula, an astonishing dining room, a living room, a glamorous terrace and a huge cellar with car parking), finely decorated with carefully-selected ancient furniture. All three double rooms are ok, each unique in its character, but interior. The triple room is roomy and faces the (quiet) street on the front facade. An absolutely unique endearing and sweetly decadent place (see pictures), for which welcoming Ionela takes care.

We were only in the area for one night...traveling through on our way to Barcelona. This looked like a unique place to stay so we booked it. We ended up having to change our reservation date at the last minute and management was very easy to work with and accommodated our request. This is a gorgeous, very old mansion with a deep and interesting history. The owners have gone to great lengths to restore it in grand style. The common rooms are so lovely and I was amazed that we could stroll around the home at our leisure and enjoy the grand salon, library and dining room. Our room was upstairs (no lift) and was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was so lovely and more than we needed. The staff checking us in did not speak english but they were able to get management on the phone (who did speak very good english) and we managed to easily get checked in. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful--even to the point of helping us track down the parking attendant that gave us a parking ticket as we were checking in. If you park in the square while checking in, make sure to buy the 3euro parking pass. We weren't familiar with the area but it did not seem to be a very tourist area--not a lot of restaurants within walking distance and we weren't sure how safe the area was to walk around in the evening. For an extra charge, we were able to park in their garage overnight which was very convenient. All in all it was a great experience.
