We had a bit of an issue with check in. The clerk was (very) unfriendly. He would speak Italian to a woman in the backroom and come back and forth to us... You could see eyes rolling and overall body language that was rude.
Apparently, the booking agency booked our room as a single and not a double occupancy. No big deal, we paid the difference of $25 per day but he was borderline rude to us the whole stay. Every other staff member was very, very kind to us.
They have a small courtyard to sit and have coffee, tea or chat. Their breakfast is amazing. Such a beautiful place to dine. They had scrambled eggs, breakfast meat, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, croissants, cappuccino and fresh squeezed juices.
The pool is not handicap accessible. Important to know if you have mobility issues. It has two ladders and requires a swim cap that can be purchased for 2 Euros from the Staff.
You can catch a glimpse of the ocean from the rooftop bar but not from the rooms. Beautiful setting for a late night date. We could hear live music on most of the nights (Although the evening we went, they did not have live music)
This hotel does have AC. We found not many places in Italy have AC. You put your key card in a holder and it allows the AC and electric to stay on while you are in the hotel. Very different than American buildings.
The hotel is close to two train stations. One is approximately a 5-10 min walk, the other is about a 15 min drive away.
Overall it is a beautiful property. I felt safe ON site, but I would not feel safe walking off site by myself.
Rooms had fridges, safes and Air conditioning and a nice view of the pool too.
Staff at the hotel were very friendly. Pool was kept very clean, however a swimming cap needs to worn in the pool at all times, this is enforced by the pool life guard. Snacks at the pool were nice and very reasonably priced.
The sky bar is a nice place to have dinner and sit and enjoy the views during the evening and sometimes provide and additional light breeze which alway welcome due to the high temperature during the day and in the evening.
Continental breakfast is from 7:30 to 9:30 in which you can site outside or in the restaurant.
The hotel has some beautiful gardens to sit and chill.
Would highly recommend this hotel, the swimming pool is an absolute benefit after a day of sightseeing.
A hire car is highly recommended due to the distance between sightseeing locations. There is ample parking at the hotel.
Would definitely recommend renting a small car to use around Italy. Ensure to take video and photos of any damage to the car before taking out and also when you return.
On returning back to the uk, the car hire company were going to charge for a small mark on the car that was already present before we picked it up be beware!!
My biggest criticism is that the beds were less comfortable than I would have liked.
This is the place to stay in Torre del Greco if you find yourself here. The area however has nothing going for it and the town itself is an unprepossing grotty port no taxis, if you want to visit other places a car is essential. The only criticism of the Marad is that they provide no information about the area or transport. We speak Italian but found it very difficult to make any plans without spending a fortune on private hire vehicles.
Lovely clean room with 2 incredible views: ocean on the right and Vesuvius vulcan on the left!
Greece influences in terraces decorations with little elegant details.
You will find a Very friendly restaurant's staff and an excellent guide in mr Masimo from reception!
This hotel has an excellent location, so you can visit Pompei , Vesuvius, Amalfi coast, Sorento and ...if you need a bit of stress, Napoli ....
Food is great, only not too many daily choices ....
Definitely we loved this hotel. We would gladly recommend it and go back , whenever will visit Italy again!
