Stayed for work conference for 3 days. Beautiful location. Enjoyed going for walks although the weather was a bit unpredictable. Rooms well appointed with beautiful views. Service very good. Also had a spa treatment and highly recommend.

The views are to die for. Stay on the ocean side of this golf resort if you think a caddy is something that holds tea.

The building has an organic shape, clad in Corten rusted steel panels.

The rooms are huge.

The decor is minimalist yet cosy. The king bed has a selection of pillows with even more only a phone call away. The bed and pillows have protectors. The linen is spotless, crisp, and a decent threadcount.

Blonde wood and dark carpet make the room moody, even during the day. The is a Bluetooth speaker for your music, and built in USB charging. There are plenty of power sockets too.

Furniture is good quality but the small single table and chair looks slightly out of place, very lonely, and a little tragic. Get rid of it and put in something more in scale.

The bathroom is windowless, where the minimal ethos continues. The bath has built in whirlpools and is almost big enough to swim in. The twin basins sit in a floating vanity with nightlight underneath. The shower has two heads and is big enough for two, or three!

Electric blinds should be kept down if the full height windows are in the sun. Blockout curtains take care of the rest. Only one panel opens on to the full length balcony.

Food is spectacular, and the staff helpful and friendly. Most are locals who give top tips for nearby attractions.

Breakfast is a buffet affair but barista coffee is extra. What an outrage.

I loved it and would stay again.

As Club members we are familiar with all R.A.C.V properties and have stayed at Cape Schanck on a couple of previous occasions prior to the massive re build of the resort. The villas connected to the main building by extensive boardwalks are amazing. The architecture of the main resort is worthy of inclusion in any magazine.

The main dining room serves what we call 'clever food' the deserts being like a Master Chef T.V. final. The problem for us who are more traditional is that the deconstruction renders the dish unrecognisable from what you thought you ordered. However, the meals are very good. there is a less expensive cafe in the resort that will suit families.

The only possible downside is that you tend to stay at the resort as it is a good 15 minute drive to any other commercial area, but that is compensated by the truly spacious and well kept property.

We are both long time RACV members and normally stay at the Private Healesville Club but given we had a long standing commitment down on the peninsula we thought we would give this a go. When you approach this amazing new structure you cannot fail to be impressed by its look. We had booked an Ocean view suites that are seperate to the main building but when we checked in the staff informed us they had 'upgraded' us to the main building. I was a little disappointed at first but when I saw the room and its view I was blown away. All very new, all very nice. Would definatly stay here again and I have noted the room because it really was lovely. There is a little bit of construction going on at the moment so make sure you request a room well away from that area, although to be honest, I did not hear any noise from it. Just one thing that did purple me a little was why you would allow a bus to be waiting for well over 40 minutes with its engine going in front of the main building and all the rooms along it. Buses should have a holding area away from the building and drive up when called. It was a blemish on what had been a brilliant two night stay. Well done RACV.

Tucked away at a southern point of Victoria between Port Philip and Western Port the resort is physically beautiful and at one with nature. Many walking trails lead to views from high rocky ledges dropping straight into the ocean. Plenty of reality back at the resort with an attractive golf course buzzing with little white buggies zipping around. A good indoor pool and opportunities galore for kids to be active. Good wheelchair access all around and a disabled lift into the pool add to the attraction of a resort catering for all.
Averaging $600 per night we were disappointed that the ocean view corner room did not eventuate. A long, long distance view of the bay sufficed. The bathroom was almost as big as the room itself, including free standing spa tub and glass wall overlooking the course.
Although a hearty breakfast was included, dinner at the restaurant was disappointing- no ‘atmosphere’ and food not memorable.
Staff were at all times pleasant and accommodating, with the exception of the golf shop where male staff chatted with the trendier ‘golfing boys’ and I was ignored until they moved out to the course. On inquiring about golfing and hiring a buggy I was less than encouraged, clearly assumptions had been made, perhaps answering my wonderings of why so few women were observed playing golf. (4-5 over three days).

We came here as a family get together for Christmas. My husband, myself and 4 month old and my sister and brother in law and 1 year old nephew shared a ocean view town house, our parents and friends in another.

The town house is spread over 3 split levels so both bedrooms plus the lounge/dining can take in the amazing views. The facilities are fantastic, there is a good size indoor pool (plus outside pool) and a wonderful playground for kids. Plus 2 restaurants in the main building.
Only a couple of things stopped me giving a higher rating. On our first night a large group of men arrived very late. Instead of being dropped off to their accommodation they spent half an hour dragging suitcases along the board walks, shouting and swearing outside our house. It woke us and our baby at 11.30pm. I ended up calling reception were apologetic.
The split system in our room didn't work so our first night was a bit chilly. The next day we rang reception and a portable heater was dropped off at the room. The only other suggestion we had was to add a bit of warmth to the lounge/dining areas with some decor and cushions.
It is a lovely area to stay in we just unfortunately had a couple of issues arise.

Dear 87jemmab, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback following your stay with us at the RACV Cape Schanck Resort. It is very pleasing to see that you enjoyed the majority of your stay as well as the beautiful expanding view from the Ocean View Rooms. It is also wonderful to see that you took full advantage of the internal and external pools at the resort. In regard to the noise that was created by other guest at the resort, we do apologies that this impacted your stay and also woke up your baby at such a late hour. Thank you for providing your feedback in regard to the maintenance issues in your room with the split system. Once this feedback was provided on the property, we organised an external contractor to come out as quickly as possible to attend to the issues. We hope to welcome you back to the RACV Cape Schanck Resort in the near future. Kind regards, Cate Cormie Front Office Duty Manager

After our wedding night debacle I thought I would try again

Booked a room with the intention of having a solo staycation away from the family as we live close by. My idea was spa, pool, movie, room service

I booked one of the ocean view rooms separate to the main resort. It was very nice and I didn’t mind walking up to the pool and gym at all

However! Nowhere on their booking site does it say they don’t provide room service or a mini bar to these rooms. Nor was it mentioned on check in

They do apparently let you pick up very limited (unhealthy options ie pizza, burger) takeaway from the main building but considering it was dark and pouring I don’t think that’s very reasonable

The place is full of golf carts and surely they can run a room service order down?

I didn’t have dinner and couldn’t even get a mini bar snack. This really needs to be made clear when people book these room types - for me, a night in with room service was the whole purpose of my stay.

Oh and construction started around 8.30am on my building (6) so you couldn’t sit on the balcony and enjoy the ocean view in peace. Could it not start at 10am when guests check out?

After two poor experiences I can only assume this resort doesn’t care for repeat business

I am a Peninsula local and long-standing RACV member and so was excited to stay here

We booked for our wedding night as something special, let the hotel know of course as we would be arriving late after our reception.

We checked in, in full ballgown and tux, very happily, at midnight.

Our happiness was short lived as we were woken at 7am not by a beautiful ocean view but to find the hotel had placed us directly above the huge kids bouncing pillow. In school holidays. Not exactly romantic and while we do realise the resort caters for families surely they had other rooms.

We had let them know we would be sleeping in being our wedding night however due to the noise we left at 11am

To have the rude shock at check out that we had been charged an additional $160 for late check out, which we barely even used (usual check out is 10) due the hotels own choice of room allocation.

Since we had only checked in at midnight would an 11am checkout without charge been too much to ask for

So our first day of married life started with us standing around, holding a wedding dress, asking to speak to the manager - who after some back and forth where we were made to feel small and stupid for complaining reduced the $160 fee but would not waive it.

We had stayed less than 12 hours. It was a special night, and neither the room nor the customer service was what we had hoped for. The room wasn’t cheap at almost $500 for 12 hours and given we were barely there, didn’t use any facilities and couldn’t sleep well due to our room placement I don’t think any charge at all for late checkout was ok

Left a really bad feeling with us and we won’t be back or recommend to family and friends visiting.

Dear Jellyblush, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback following your recent stay with us at the RACV Cape Schanck Resort. I am sorry to hear you had such a disappointing stay with us on your wedding night. I am very concerned about the 11am check out with a $160 charge as a paid 11am check out is only $35. We would normally offer this complimentary as it was your wedding night. Could you please contact me at, dutymanager_capeschanck@racv.com.au with your reservation details so I can look in to your account to rectify this. Once again, thank you for your time and we hope to welcome you back to the RACV Cape Schanck Resort in the near future. Kind regards, Jemima Wood - Front Office Duty Manager

I understand you pay for a lot that you might not use. We were here for a long weekend with friends and spent most of our time outside exploring the peninsula so we didn't use any of the hotel's facilities. The main building was impressive, the gold course looked pretty good as did the pool and gym area but we didn't use those. What we can comment on is the room and facilities as compared with 'regular' hotels which don't cost $400 per night. The view was the main plus, just lovely. The room had a sofa and the bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee was provided as you would expect but one cellophane pack of 2 biscuits is petty. When you don't want a big breakfast because of plans for lunch and dinner, a cup of coffee and a bikkie gets you through. Not only was there just one packet but it was not replaced the next day. This demonstrates an attitude of meanness which is just disappointing and sadly is the thing I will remember most. Interestingly, when I filled in the resort's own survey and made these comments I received a response thanking me for my 'mostly positive review' and hoping to see me again!!

There aren't any elevators in the beach view units (the older accommodation) but there are lifts to the several floors of the new facility (a multi-story hotel), that take people to rooms, or from the underground car park to reception, restaurants and the accomodation above the restaurant and reception floor.
