This is the quietest, most peaceful and most noiseless hotel I have ever spent a weekend at.
Beautifully surrounded, with a nice swimming pool, a magnificent hall for breakfast and really spacious rooms with a view that stretches out forever.
All the staff is professional and helpful always trying to make you feel at home.
A big thanks to Cristina and Roberto who take such good care of breakfast that you'd like to stay with them for a long time.
Do not miss the chance to stay at the Somaschi. You won't regret it.

Original an old monastery that has turned into a beautiful hotel with spacious rooms. The hotel is located in the charming small town Cherasco, where not many tourists come. There are very good restaurants and Barolo and Albs is nearby.

Breakfast is typically Italian (a bit boring) but if you are used to travel in Italy that is often the standard.

A small pool is situated at the back of the hotel.

Could recommend that the hotel make a small lounge area in the yard, where you can sit and read and have an afternoon tea og wine. We were missing that.

This is an old monastery turned into a hotel. The building and the grounds are spectacular. The rooms are super huge and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and service amazing. The town is charming and the locals are welcoming and friendly. One of my favourite places in italy

Great location in a lovely town filled with fantastic restaurants. The exterior of the building and the grounds are impressive and well maintained. Inside one can literally feel history in the walls, although it is humid and a bit moldy. The room was large and clean, so was the bathroom. A minus is the carpet on the floor which I do not enjoy in a hotel room. Air conditioner was extremely noisy and did not work, making our room uncomfortably hot and humid. The pool area was lovely although there are a lot of bugs in the gardens. The big minus was the breakfast. the staff were very friendly, however they did not seem to be trained in proper food preparation. Tomatoes had not been washed, there was dirt on them. Cheeses and meats were not kept chilled, the eggs must have been boiled many days ago, when we ordered scrambled eggs and omelette they seemed to have been cooked in a pan that everything sticks to and burns. I was afraid to eat anything but toast with jelly. Due to the bad experience with breakfast we did not try the on-site restaurant for dinner. Snacks and drinks by the pool were fine.

Somaschi is very nice hotel, impressive entrance with garden, main door through out arches of this ancient building. At first look rooms are also very nice. unfortunatelly when you spend some time in there you notice the unfortunate list of items which should never happen in such hotel category: paper toilette holder broken and missing, main door elettronic key lock brocken ( we received normal key instead), air conditioning not working and we could not sleep for most of the night because was by far too warm, inside the guardrobe full of dust!
it might be a great 4 stars hotel, but there are so many things which are not at that hotel category expectation! it's just a pity

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful hotel in early March 2014. The hotel is located in a beautifully renovated old mansion in the center of Cherasco. From here you can easily visit the Langhe and Alba, which is approx. 30 min by car. All the hotel staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. They arranged at the last moment a great view at a winery in the region. We dined divinely every evening in the hotel restaurant with innovative menus, but at the same time with traditional Piemontese ingredients .The restaurant also has a great wine list, not to be missed. the breakfast is great and varied with fresh fruit, cakes, croissants, bread, salami, ham, cheese, ....

Charming hotel in perfect location with beautiful views of the area.
Room was spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast abundant and good quality with very friendly service.
The restaurant was a disappointment: average meal with less than average service, really surprising for Italy and huge contrast with breakfast, not to mention outstanding restaurants in town.
Strongly advise to venture out to one of the many gems within a 5 min walk for lunch/dinner until the mgt will bring those meals up to the rest of the standards @ otherwise charming hotel

No service
Only ONE staff for reception+concierge. At times even nobody. Once after waiting for a long time we had to make an international call while in front of reception to find a staff. On arrival no porter assistance; our driver and guide had to carry luggages.

No public space
No decent lounge, bar, health center.

Avoid duplex rooms
Besides being ugly and inconvenient they are very hot. No heat control in rooms. Lower level was 27 degrees in October, so surely a lot more than 30 degrees in upper level where we were supposed to sleep. No windows to open to cool it. There is only a backyard door opening to an unguarded open space which can be reached from the street.

Bad breakfast
Served in a room without daylight with synthetic table cloth and napkins. Very bland cold food and variety. You can order egg dishes but 50 percent of times they will arrive burnt.

Bad internet
Sometimes worked sometimes didn't.

Lovely hotel with really helpful staff clean well furnished rooms, (air con a bit noisy) nice pool and grounds, superb Walter eynard restaurant with gourmet food but at reasonable prices, wish we had longer to look around old town and visit chocolate factories and shops! Good secure parking for motorbikes
